Ever since I was little kid, I was constantly exposed to computers and video games. When I received my first computer at the age of 10, the first thing I did was break apart the computer and see what was inside. Prior to that, I would always bombard by parents with questions on how these machines work. They could not answer much so the curiosity inside me wanted to figure it out myself. At this moment, I knew that I wanted to work on computers for the rest of my life, whether it is building or writing code. With my passion for games and computers, I have always wanted to make my own video game company, starting from scratch. The tall task was far too difficult for myself at my age but I worked extensively to do my best. Luckily, I met some …show more content…
When I was growing up in Indonesia, computers were very expensive and it was very hard to get personal access to them. However, this all changed in the United States and I was lucky enough to get one. At first, my dad got one for work and that is where my passion started. I was fascinated about how it turned on or how it stored files. My curiosity only expanded and I wanted to figure out how everything works. Finally in fifth grade, I got my dad’s old computer, which I dismantled in a few days. At first, he was angry because the computer would not work anymore but he then realized how much time I spent working on it. Soon after, my parents realized my passion for computers and they bought me a new computer. I began to work on it the first day and a few days later, I discovered how video games were created. In middle school, my friends and I created a game based on Pokemon, something that we all remembered from our childhood. After school, we would meet up at my friend’s garage and we would work until the sun came down. We wanted this game to work and we did all we could to make it a success. We sacrificed our parents’ money and valuable time but after 14 months of working, the hard work had paid off and the game was finally done. I work very well with people and it shows in the game we published, I may have had some disagreements but I did not let that stop myself
The first piece of technology that was introduced to me was the amazing, ground-breaking GameBoy created by Nintendo. My parents believed that my obsession with video games in my juvenile years would be the cause of my downfall when I would become an adult with no job, no money, and still lived with my parents. I admit that I did have an addiction in the beginning, but over the years it moderated as I became more attracted to what was actually done to develop the devices and programs that once ensnared me. Enrolling into a vocational high school, I selected Programming & Web Development as my choice of trade in order for me to learn more about this extraordinary field of science. Soon I began compiling my own applications, but with a method unorthodox compared to my classmates; I believed that the vivid aesthetics and simple navigation displayed on applications were just as crucial as the tediously compiled, intricate code virtually hidden underneath. With every annual keynote that was broadcasted from numerous Silicon Valley companies, their latest innovations constantly entertained my curiosity. Advancing as an upperclassmen, I entered into challenging courses and incessantly researched innumerable universities as I began to devise a plan of recruitment for the companies of the Bay Area. Enrolling into a university that is passionate about the
I have always had a passion for nursing. As a child, I watched my mother getting up early, putting her scrubs on and headed out the door for a 12 hour shift. She was always content, and at ease to go for a long shift and even overtime at times. I love the fact that after work, she would always come home, satisfied with the day no matter how hard it was for her. She would sit and tell my brothers and sisters how she enjoyed the conversations that she had with her patients and what impact she had on their lives that day. Listening to these stories as a child, I knew that I wanted to become a nurse and listening to the same stories and helping people, making their day feel better. I wanted to follow my mom’s footsteps. At the end of a long shift, it is a rewarding profession, knowing that I am saving people’s lives, making them comfortable when they are near of dying, advocate and teaching them. As nurses, we care for patients through illness, injury, aging, health. We also promote health, prevent diseases and teaching the community; that’s what I love about nursing. I believe that this is the right profession for me because I have all the qualities that a nurse should possess when
The computer obsession began when the first computer was built in 1939. There are many uses of a computer like the proper way and the negative way. The way Annalee Newitz uses her computer is good and bad. The definition of a good teaching tool is the best way to teach a class or something that is taught. Using a good teaching tool is not always easy. There are many things about computers who make people depend or use too much to stop depending on technology.
When I look back at my life to reach for the moments that define me, I see the look of pride on my mother’s face when I inform her of a new achievement, I smell the freshly cut grass before a major football game, and I hear the sound of my name being read off my pharmacy name tag. But it was not until I read the lines of perplexity and distress on an Alzheimer’s patient’s brow as he grasped for the name of his year-old grandchild, that I was shook with the realization that I had been taking even the smallest of my memories and experiences for granted. That humbling term at my local memory care facility became yet another defining experience for me. It powered my passion for medicine and neurology, as well as my commitment to dedicating my life
A teacher I once had told me “Invest in what you know.” I took that to heart and during a school project involving stock market investing I put what he told me to good use. I sat long and hard thinking about what I did in my everyday life that would help me in this project. I thought about what I ate for breakfast, what I used to do my chores, or even what I used at school but kept coming up empty handed. Then it hit me and I began to scan my resources for topics such as digital technology advances, new technology and devices for 2014, and cutting edge design and animation. What do all these topics have in common; they all pertain to video games, and digital electronics technology.
This interest never left me, it just grows and keep growing. After finishing high school, I was so interested in pursuing my tertiary education with something computer related and I had studied Diploma in Computer Science. It was a very great exposure towards the computer systems. During my studies, like everyone else I never forget my console and games. Play Station 3, Play Station Portable and even I had joined Garena Online to battle with other gamers around Asia. Well, not many of them were girls so I just kept my identity with some kind of...
Building a computer can be a useful skill in today's world. It allows you to
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
The mind must never be kept idle because of its tremendous capacity to absorb and learn. After careful consideration of my aptitude, interests and experiences gained while pursuing my under graduation in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, I have decided to pursue my Masters in the field of Computer Science. Being a dynamic and ever evolving field, many new developments are expected and there is immense scope for research on new products and applications. To progress and make a mark in this field, I realize that it is important for me to pursue my Masters from a reputable university. I have always dreamt of taking up research.
For a long time I have been interested in the subject of psychology. The ways people behave and why they do certain things has always fascinated me and makes me question myself a lot. To answer these questions, I started to read many books that related to psychology to gain as much knowledge as I can. I now have a better overview of psychology so I would like to continue to further my knowledge at a higher level in Berea College.
Every day, many people question my passion for pursuing accounting as a profession and the first answer I think of is that I am good with numbers. However, advancing in the field has made me realize that my passion is not only based on figures. Growing up as a kid, I was privileged to have a piggy account where I would save as little as fifty cents per week. Since my parents rewarded me in monetary value as a positive reinforcement in cases of good behaviour, I was motivated to maintain good manners so long as my savings increased. As time went by, I realized I had saved way “too much” money for a little child. The challenge came in the management of the funds because I was focused on spending more on pleasurable activities. However, the guidance of my parents enabled me to prioritize on the more important things and save more. I took interest in managing may own account as a child and even pursued accounting courses in high school. The interest grew deeper because I gained more insight on the facts about accounting and the career. Also, I believed that it is career that one would be self-employed thereby avoiding the dilemmas of lacking jobs after graduating. For instance, one would easily start their own business and manage their finances comfortably.
My passion for computers started in high school, when my father bought a home pc. Then I got the opportunity to explore my practical knowledge with a young and an enthusiastic teacher. At first I started learning about the hardware...

I cannot forget how excited I was when I first bought my own computer. Like a mother who spends time sewing and knitting for her newborn baby, I spent hours and hours to sparkle my computer. I waited a long time to buy a brand new computer. I had to work more hours and saved money to buy a computer. I did not want to buy a cheap computer, but I wanted to buy a professional one. Was I professional on computer? No! I was not. I did not even know how to type, but I was sure that my expensive com puter could make me a computer expert. 17 inches monitor, color printer, two speakers and well-designed fancy keyboard made me just happy by looking at them on my desk.
