Christianity is more than just a religion, It is a personal relationship with God. Personal relationships are not based on emotions. It's easy for you to be in love when your relationship is still in the early stages, but it takes lots of sacrifices, effort, and compromise to keep that relationship going. So it is with your relationship with God. When you first encounter God, it is exciting and makes you feel good. But it is easy for the relationship to go sour after some time. It doesn't just happen suddenly, it is a gradual process. Though there are other religions on earth, Christianity proves to be true and stands out because of her truism, light, and peace. Christianity is a joyful and a powerful religion, but to experience her power, joy, peace and light calls for personal knowledge of God Almighty through Jesus. Being born into a Christian home, attending all Church activities, paying your tithes and offerings weekly; sleeping in the Church, being a worker, minister - even being a pastor's child doesn't make you a child of God, but your personal encounter with Jesus makes you His child. The above mentioned are good but are no substitute for new birth. Confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour secures you heaven. …show more content…
It is only to this group of people that God reveals secrets to. This can be seen in our day to day relationship with people. You can tell secrets to only those you trust to keep those secrets. If you approach a stranger on the street and start telling them your secrets, that stranger would think you're drunk or crazy. Our personal secrets are reserved for those we trust. So it is with God, too. David told us in Psalm 25:14 that "The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant."
Christianity has grounded our lives in the living God as revealed through Jesus. This belief must be a choice people make as well as a gift we all receive within the Christian community. Christians must trust in and rely upon God as the source of everything in their lives. Faith is about believing in the trinity; God, Jesus the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit as three in one. Christians follow Jesus’ teachings and answer the call to be his disciples in the world. Christian faith is looking forward to joining God in the future and entering into the coming kingdom that God has promised His followers through Jesus. Christians join together in reflecting with each other in the Christian community about the good news of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Christians believe in the “new life in Christ,” which is the gift of God’s grace; such rebirth and personal assurance gives all new eyes to see the living truth in Scripture. The Christian worldview may differ in different denominations of Christianity but only exist because of their belief of God and Jesus.
Through the close study of two of the aspects shown in the diagram, their contributions allow Christianity to be considered a living religious tradition. The significant contributions of Pope John XXIII, during both his papal and Pre-papal life have had everlasting effects on not only Catholicism, but Christianity as a whole and lead to the sense of Christianity being a living religious tradition. His works include two Papal encyclicals, Mater et Magistra and Pacem in Terris, along with his work being Apostolic Delegate of Greece and Turkey. Moreover, The significant practice of Baptism has further contributed to Christian being considered a living religious tradition as it accounts for the premise of most Christian beliefs to be initiated, especially in terms of salvation and affirming the beliefs in the trinity and following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Christianity means more to me than a religion it is my lifestyle. Being a Christian has taught me so much in my 17 years of life. I have erudite where I came from and where I belong. I have learned how to be a optimistic person and spread positivity with others. Recently I went to Puerto Rico to visit my family and there I met a numerous amount of vagrant people who did not food on a daily basis nor a home to come to after a elongated day. I felt so pleased to be able to bless those individuals with nutrition, water, and clothes. Before I developed into who I am now I did not have goals and accomplishments I did not really have a determination in life. Learning who Christ was helped me become more linguistic, kinesthetic and spatial. I can learn more of him through the scripture, to feel his power and presence and to witness his miracles. These learning styles do not only help me in my spiritual life but also in my scholastic
The Christian religion, like all other religions has its strengths and weaknesses in our modern society. Perhaps the strengths out weight the weaknesses as this is one of the largest religions in the world. Hundreds of people follow the Catholic/Christian religion yet still a greater number follow yet other religions. Perhaps this is because they see the weaknesses or perhaps it is simply because their parents have taught them that it is a sin to follow this religion.
God is like a father and we, humanity are his children. He teaches us, prepares us, disciplines us, and punishes us for not obeying and following His commands. The attributes of God that belong distinctly to him are that
With so many other religions in the world, I use to ask myself why so many people would choose to be a part of the Christian church instead of the Catholic or Buddhist. But, now I know why and that is because everyone wants to live in a world where there is love and peace all around and that is exactly what the Christians believe in. The only trouble is finding that right path to God. The only way to do that is if people have faith and trust that Jesus is the Savior (Messiah). He loved us so much that he died for all of our sins. He is now the Holy Spirit that will direct to that path heading towards God.
God will be the son’s best friend, and a best friend is someone to tell the deepest, darkest secrets to. He can trust God not to tell anyone his secrets, and also be his self around. The father knows God won’t judge his son because God knows no one is
Having this Christian faith also makes for a better way to live your life. It also explains of how everything came to be and why God put things as they are and it gives all a purpose to life. Does going through heaven do are love ones allowed to come back to earth. One think that crossed mind did Jesus have a church where he had his teaching or did he just travel around preaching. Also that is it true that the Christian have allowed or accept homosexuality and not consider a sin. Christians life looks to be more alike God and this shows because they consider God in answer to most unexplained things. Christians seem to have a more loving behavior. Also having a Christian faith makes peoples more motived to be better and have great connection to God. The Christian I have met are some of the better people in my life you can just tell from square one how different they are compare to
Scholars have been trying to come up with a well-founded, acceptable and universal definition of religion for years; however, none of these definitions so far are a perfect fit for all religions of the world. There are many things in our life that are well defined and well understood but, unfortunately, religion is not one of them. There is no common ground and understanding of what religion really means. Religion is what we make of it, so no one can truly define religion in a way that is meaningful across all borders as it is outside of the realm of reason and rationale and the definitions we give could be either too exclusive or inclusive.
What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
The following essay will evaluate the importance of the journey that takes place from Systematic to Practical theology; this view will be explored through Ronelle Sonnenberg’s research done regarding ‘being together’ in a youth setting. This essay will first build on the basis of Practical Theology; furthermore addressing the importance of the community aspect within a youth setting; this will lead to the process that takes place between a Systematic stance, leading to a Practical theological stance.
Jesus continues his dialogue with his disciples with the phrase “I am the true vine…” (John 15:1). This phrase is a continuation and the final of seven “I am” statement found in the book of John. For example, Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” (6:35), “I am the light of the world” (8:12), “I am the gate” (10:9), “I am the good shepherd” (10:12), “I am the resurrection and the life” (11:15-26), “I am the way, the truth and the life” (14:16), and finally, “I am the vine.” Each of the “I am” statements draw the Jewish audience to their foundation with God because when Moses asked, “What is your name God? He said, “I am who I am” (Exodus 3:14). John’s overall purpose in the “I am” statements is to point to Jesus being God in the flesh. Similarly,
Every Sunday. Stares and disappointment. I sat with my grandmother at this big church. People would stare when they realized I didn't know the prayers or songs. I was trying to learn more about religion why did I feel so scared? Am I going to find where I belong? Will I have enough time? These are questions I sometimes have to ask myself. When I was little I explored many religions but now that i'm older I am frightened about faith.
Religion plays an enormous role in the history of mankind. Wars have been fought over it, lives have been surrounded by it, and it has directly or indirectly shaped the lives of many individuals. Culture and religion play a large role in developing each other. People’s religion is decided by their culture. The prominence or the lack of religion will develop someone’s religious identity have play a core role in determining what that person believes.
The definition of religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods(Merriam-Webster). After this semester I have come to realize that religion is a much more advanced, complicated, and personal definition. Religion can’t be defined in one word or one term because there is a lot that religion entails. There really is no concrete answer of what religion is and the definition varies among different groups of people and individuals.
