In Laura Pappano’s essay, “The Year of the MOOC”, she describes a MOOC, or a Massive Open Online Course, an online course to build a higher education for people around the world. After examining “Chunky Peanut Butter”, by James Gregory, I am convinced he’s the best college applicant to attend a MOOC because he’s flexible and can work with anyone, he’s active in the community and he never gives up.
In the novel The Wings of a Falcon, the author Cynthia Voigt uses the structure of an adventure tale to tell the story of courage and bravery. Oriel, an orphan boy with his friend Griff, encounter many hardships to earn the title of the Earl. In this story, the author uses the literary devices of setting, characterization, and symbol, which all make the book an interesting one to read.
n the college essay, “ Chunky Peanut Butter” Jam Gregory describes himself as “ the chunky peanut butter”. Meaning that he feels that he is like the heart of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. His article was certainly the most compelling out of the other two. A few reasons are, he uses good word choices and figurative language, shows he does different activities, and how he likes to help people.

Have you ever wondered who invented Peanut Butter? Did you know that the same man made “more than 450 products ranging from margarine to library paste that could be made from the peanut, the sweet potato, and various other cultivated plants”. That man, also known as the “Peanut Man”, is George Washington Carver. There are three commonly asked questions about Carver including: “What was his personal life like?” “What did he actually do?” and “What did he like to do when he wasn’t working?” Basically, Carver was an African-American slave born at the end of the Civil War that was able to overcome many obstacles and become a famous scientist and inventor.

Throughout the story, Manny goes through many big events that help him discover what his real values should be and who he really is. Manny gradually shifts from obliviously reckless, to outgoing and cautious,

Should others be able to control what we eat? Should they tell us what to eat or what not to eat, or should we be responsible for our own eating habits? In Wendell Berry’s essay, “The Pleasures of Eating”, he argues that people should eat responsibly and to eat responsible is to live free. According to Berry, one way to eat responsible is to live free. He explains how people are not free if our food and sources are controlled by someone else. I disagree with Berry’s argument, because it is up to people to decide whether they want to eat responsibly and live free. Many people do not care where their food comes from and others do not have time to learn about their food and its origin.
There were not many major characters in this movie, but all played an important roll to the subject matter. Jimmy Morris was the main character, a young man, about 30 years old with a wife, three children, and a career as a chemistry high school teacher and baseball coach. His high school baseball team was the inspiration to him helping to achieve his goal of wanting to be a major league baseball player. Lori Morris, Jimmy’s wife, Hunter was his only young son who adored his father, and two young daughters Jessica, and Jamie. Jimmy’s father who was a military man played a minor part in the movie but, was the reason for a major controversy in the main character’s life.
The parents both had demanding jobs in the movie. The dad Phil had to travel to a conference and make the family move because of his job and the mom was constantly on the phone talking with the people she worked for. Having a child with a disability did not make things any easier the mother had to pay and take her child Turner to therapy to help improve his stuttering disability. It seemed as if the mom was always running in the film to she had to take Harper to violin practice, Barker had playdates, and Turner had baseball and
