“The Peanut Butter Falcon” is a heartwarming comedy/drama that follows the adventure of a lifetime. The story centers on a non-stereotypical main character, Zak. Zak suffers from an intellectual disability called Down syndrome. The movie follows Zak as he escapes from a nursing home to pursue his dream of going to the Salt Water Redneck Academy to train to become a professional wrestler. Along the way, he meets Tyler, a troubled fisherman turned thief. Throughout Zak’s adventure, Tyler pushes him to do things he thought he could never do. Along the way, Eleanor, a widow who works at the nursing home, joins as well. However, once there, they discover that the academy has been shut down for ten years. Fortunately, Clint, otherwise known as Salt Water Redneck, comes back from retirement and teaches Zak some wrestling moves and even sets up a matchup, During the match, Sam did not throw the fight as originally planned. Instead, Sam taunted Zak and shoved him to the ground. Sam also told Zak that “this isn’t a make a wish foundation,” but Zak fought back and even threw him out of the ring. During the match, Tyler’s past catches up with him, and Duncan, a man who Tyler had stolen from him, hits him in the back of the head with a crowbar. After that, the movie ends with Eleanor, Zak, and a recovering Tyler in a car traveling to Florida. Throughout the movie, Zak was underestimated, and that he could never accomplish anything for himself because of his disability.
