Easton Clinic is a community facility, focused in providing healthcare mainly to adult patients. The institution has approximately one hundred and fifty employees, causing difficulties to reunite everybody with the purpose of conducting training. It would be beneficial for management and employees to implement an online training session that supports knowledge transmission and application in the workplace environment. A Patient Confidentiality Training will be subject to consideration.
This training is needed because in the last year, the institution encounter approximately twenty five legal issues regarding patient records confidentiality, even though employees regularly attend training on this matter, it’s of vital importance to transfer the learning to new employees to avoid legal actions when patient confidentiality is broken. This project expenses are minor, since every one of the employees have a computer with internet access, as well administrative hours to do paperwork when they are not working directly with patients. The training duration will be four hours, so for this matter, management are offered the possibility of extending the administrative hours from four to eight, and for those employees who would like to access the training from home the choice is available as well. This is an asynchronous online training, designed in a constructivist approach, where the interaction between learner-learner and instructor-learner will generate knowledge as the result of their own experiences. Prior to starting the training, participants are encouraged to follow the course guidelines. This training is designed based on ADDIE model consisting in five steps ( analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation).As noted by Online Learning Insights (2013) the model offers solid and universal principles, hence the universal application of it .

According to the report provided by the consultant, the employees at this facility were not taking precautions in safeguarding the patient’s health information. Therefore, the employees at this facility were in violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). It is important for employees to understand the form of technology being used and the precautions they must take to safeguard patient information.
All health care employees will do everything within their power to protect the patient’s right to privacy. This means they will follow the HIPAA law closely. They will disclose information that is relevant to a specialist or treatment. Also, means they will release information that a patient has asked for as promptly as possible.
