We live in a place in which sports is a great part of our world. Not only in our country but also in the whole world people see sports as a past time, a hobby, a career, and a passion. There are people that are really passionate about certain sports and cannot live without them. Every four years we have worldwide events in which many countries around the world compete in certain sports. That event is called the Olympics. Also, every four years we have another big worldwide event in which many countries compete in the sport of soccer for the World Cup.

Every year two football teams compete for a national title and it creates a big fuss not only in the United States but in other countries as well. Many companies and organizations pay millions of dollars just to get several seconds of advertisement during this event because they know millions of people around the country are watching this event. The Super Bowl is very popular and it is an event that is being played by males. Is there any other sporting event that is almost as popular as the Super Bowl that is played by females?
The FIFA World Cup is arguably the most popular sporting event in the whole world. 32 countries get together in one place to compete and find out which country has the best soccer team. Again, this is an event that brings in a large amount of money and viewers and again, it is only males competing. Females also have a World Cup in soccer every four years, yet their event is not as popular as the event for the males. To me the role of sports in society is for men and women of all ages to grow and develop and be responsible members of society and the community. Sports can bring a community together as long as it doesn 't become the religion of who we are as christians. It also gives us a different setting to interact with each other and learn from one another so we can become better as a whole. Coming together as a community and being able to learn and have fun is probably one of the most important aspects to me when it comes to sports. There should be no reason that parents have to get into arguments because of a call a referee makes in their child 's game. Also sports have become a bigger deal in society then just about fun and learning the sport. A great deal of it, at the higher level has so do with economics and social status’. Players with exceptional talent are now seen in commercials and have huge salaries to play sports or even at the college level earn scholarships to get into colleges for free. I mean hey, if your that good then good for you!
Sports really shape our society, and culture. You will not find very many people who do not have some love for at least one sport or another. There are so many sports out there that people love and will always watch the sport of their choice.
