Since her time here at Marymount, Alexx Holmes a sophomore resident on campus has run into numerous parking incidents. " I started working at Hooters in Fairfax my freshmen year so I was given permission for a parking pass so I could get to and from work. Many nights I wouldn't get back from work until after midnight. I lived in Rowley, and after an incident of a customer trying to follow me home; I hated walking from the White Garage to Rowley that late at night. So I began parking in the faculty parking lot outside of Butler so I could go in through that entrance. I even had permission, I was explaining my situation to a guard at one point and he waved me off and said it was fine. Yet, I still continued to get tickets. Well, I ignored them because I figured they weren't legit. Then the beginning of this past fall semester, they took $1100 out of my refund check to pay off my parking tickets. I tried to talk …show more content…
If we had cameras, maybe the person who did it to my car wouldn't have gotten away clean and could pay for the damage they left on my car."
I reached out to Marymount Director of Campus and Residential Services Tina Sheppard to see if she could comment on many on the concerns students have. When asked why more parking passes are being given out than parking spots Sheppard suggested I looked up the prices for parking passes at various college campuses in the area and compare it to what Marymount students pay. Sheppard said that students at other universities in the area are paying more for parking compared to Marymount. Here at Marymount students are paying lower costs a full year for a parking pass than students do at Mason, for example, a full semester. Students should note that the purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking spot on
The number of complaints relating to Cal State Fullerton’s parking is out of control. Considering the prices CSU Fullerton charges to park at their school, students should be guaranteed a parking space. Students are currently outraged regarding the Cal State Fullerton’s parking conditions. Some students even decide to not attend the school based on the pricing and availability of parking. A school losing an immense number of students only because of the parking situation is insane. Cal State Fullerton should reduce the pricing towards parking for reasons of availability, cost, and profit.
The infrastructure in West Main Street is not dissimilar to City Road in regards to the street bollards which have been introduced to stop vehicles parking on the pavements. Pedestrian islands are another similarly regular sight throughout the street. (‘The Street’, 2009, Scene 1) Both these material things are there to ensure the safety and ease of pedestrians while drivers may find these a nuisance as they are restricted to the small amount of parking bays along the street instead of parking on the pavement for convenience, consequently resulting in an inequality amid the public. There is a steady flow of traffic through the street of which most are cars but there are a lot of busses as well. The busses seem to be in favour of...
Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
As a non-traditional student of the University Mary Hardin Baylor, I can say parking policies could use some changes. I understand the need for parking policies for safety and security reasons, but some parking rules are just ridiculous. My family has four vehicles, only one of them has a UMHB parking sticker. This sticker was issued at registration; it is one of the many hidden fees that are added into tuition. I sometimes drive different vehicles to campus. When I drive different vehicles, I have to go to campus police to get a temporary parking permit. However, I do have the option to purchase a sticker for each vehicle, if I want to pay fifteen dollars for each sticker. Another parking issue is that vehicles cannot be pulled through or backed into a parking space. Neither backing into a parking space, nor pulling forward into a parking space causes any safety or security problems. Does it really matter if the rear of the vehicles is facing the outside row? Rules and regulations have their place, but some are just ridiculous.
When I could not locate the requested documentation in my car, the attendant proceeded to verbally assault me for approximately 20 minutes and refused to let me out of the parking garage, essentially holding me hostage. Additionally, the attendant accused me of lying when I told him that another parking attendant let me into the garage previously, saying that the key cards do not work for entering the garage. This directly contradicts what I was told as a resident of The Veridian upon moving in: residents with temporary parking permits are told to ask parking attendants for entry and exit
On 02/02/16 is when I parked my truck in the Blatt parking lot. I would like to start by saying that I paid $100 for a parking pass to park my car. Only to find out that the Blatt PE Center parking lot would be full of people parking for free (with not tickets being issued). Every weekday evening until late at night swimming practice is help at blatt. Along with that comes tons and tons of parents and high school students who need to park their cars. So they all park in the Blatt PE lot. They fill the lot up everyday and even line the rows waiting for students to walk up so they can follow them to their cars and take their spots. There parents and high schoolers are parking in the spots that I have paid to park and they pay nothing. Something
Parking by the dormitories is almost impossible. Students who live at particular dorms find themselves faced with the problem of having to park on the other side of campus. Those who live in Brown Hall, which is behind the Thompson center, have the most parking problems on campus. This is because the Thompson center is a very large building housing various departments on campus. Therefore it receives a lot of traffic all day. Visitors to the campus are taking over the parking lots around the Thompson center, which is forcing students to park other places on campus and some students chose to disregard the signs posted for reserved parking.
Sheridan College rests at the bottom of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains, in a small, friendly Western town where everyone believes that everyone else is their neighbor and treats them as such. After a week at Sheridan College, I guarantee that any visitor would mistake it for Heaven; that is, except for one issue: the lack of parking on campus. Nearly every time in the past that I have attempted to locate a desirable parking spot, I have failed and have had to settle for a spot at least five minutes away from my intended location. After three semesters of frustration, I gained the necessary permission to research this predicament and present my findings in this report.

So why should students pay for access to increasingly basic and common services? Students have come to expect these tasty perks, as if our Universities owe us for passing through their hallowed halls. But have we come to expect too much? Do we truly deserve extravagant bonuses?
At some campuses, the college administration assigns parking spaces; at others, anyone park wherever he or she likes; at yet others, a student is not permitted to park at all. The hospital interviewed dozens of people, seeking the most friendly and kindest person to serve as an aide in the children's ward; the staff decided the best-qualified candidate was me. Driving defensively is not particularly difficult if we remember to watch out for the other driver and left enough space between ourselves and the car ahead of us. My father himself built these sturdy bookshelves for myself. My roommate and her cousin was telling an extremely interesting story about her most handsome uncle to anyone who would
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis. The official home page of OU parking and transportation services is a source to consider for exploring the problem.
looking for a parking space, and waiting in line. There are many ways to save time and
Students will park in the closest spot to the school if possible. According to Matt Jobin, “students will work out endlessly on a treadmill, but they won’t walk half a mile to their cars (Jobin). Students want to get to class on time and apparently getting up early to find a parking spot is out of the question, and even so the problem will still remain. No one is saying that parking should be free, though it would be a weight lifter if it were, but if students half to pay for a parking pass to park in campus, then the college should at least have the decency to assure the buyer a parking space every time they enter the school. For example Northern Virginia Community college allows afternoon students, 4:00 pm and after, to park for free while morning students
