Every person has different needs in their food diet. Finding a diet to fit their needs may be one of the best things they choose to do in their life. Some people may have conflict with choosing a diet to follow because of available resources, finances, and even what’s healthy and in season. The Paleo food diet is among one of the many diets in the world that many choose to follow and for them, it may be the best diet they have chosen to follow. Though this diet may act on limitations of certain foods and impose challenges, the benefits are greatly rewarding. The Paleo food diet strives from the foundation of eating non-processed foods; instead, eating lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats are consisted in the diet. Paleolithic diet: includes gathering and hunting foods, like meat and berries. Cultivated foods are ones that they had to learn to grow.
Our body’s immune system protects us from infections and diseases. When the immune system begin attacking healthy cells and tissues in the body, this can trigger autoimmune diseases. This disorder tend to run in families and women particularly Hispanic-American, Native American, and African-American have the higher risk. Treatment involves attempts in controlling the process of the disease as well as reducing the symptoms. Medications and supplements can be effective, while some chooses to rely in the changes of nutritional intake. Paleo is one of the most controversial nutritional diet today and many have chosen to take on this diet in fighting autoimmune diseases.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2012), the diabetes rate has more than tripled since 1980 from about 5.6 million people affected, to nearly 21 million people. And, of the 2.9 million Native Americans, approximately 16% have been afflicted with type-2 diabetes (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010). These rates were more than twice the rates for the white population and strongly correlated with income level. One factor that is believed to have contributed to the high rates of non-insulin-dependent diabetes is dietary changes from traditional foods to processed foods (Reinhard et al., 2012).

Marion Good, PhD, RN, has focused her study, “A Middle-Range Theory of Acute pain Management: Use in Research,” on complementary medicine for pain and stress, acute pain, and stress immunity. The purpose of this theory is to put into practice guidelines for pain management. Good, 1998, noted the need for a balance between medication usage and side effects of pain medications. The theory also promoted patient education related to pain management following surgery and encouraged plan development for acceptable levels of pain management. This theory was developed through deductive reasoning. Chinn & Kramer, 2008, defined deductive reasoning as going from a general concept to a more specific concept. Good, 1998, related that there was a balance between analgesia and side effects in which two outcomes can be deduced: (1) a decrease in pain, and (2) a decrease in side effects. These outcomes can be studied further or more detailed concepts can be deduced from them.

Nutrition is a very controversial and confusing topic. One day coffee is bad for you, but the next day it is good. Alcohol is detrimental for our health one day, but the next day red wine is the elixir of life. There are dozens of diet plans and they promise a leaner and healthier body. There is the 3-Hour Diet that involves constantly eating small portions of anything we want to eat. The latest diet craze, the Paleo Diet, is based upon eating foods that our “hunter-gatherer ancestors” would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era. And there is the Blood Type Diet, the South Beach Diet, the Macrobiotic Diet, the Mediterranean Diet, and the list goes on. But who and what should we believe? Well, there is an optimal diet for humans and the answer might surprise many.
As compared to all the other fad diets out there, the Paleo Diet is one that is principled and based on ancient history which makes it absolutely unique. Also, this form of diet does not promote starvation or crash dieting; rather you are taught how to basically improve on your food choices to get the best results.
