According to Allen and others, when it comes to paid maternity leave, arguments for greater family supports are based on the perception that how accessible the supports are will result in reduced work-family conflict for employees (Allen et al. 2014). b. If employers allowed their employees to have paid maternity leave, then there will be less conflict between work and family life. If nothing is done we are afraid that families would continue to struggle on raising their children. Usually, children growing up without parental guidance tend to get into a lot of trouble and cause problems in and out of their families. Remember the children are the future generation of this country. 2. Steps of Action/Plan: How, exactly, the solution will be implemented. a. We can follow other countries example when it comes to maternity leave. Such as Germany, where women are eligible for 3 years of job protected leave compared to the U.S. where women can receive 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave (Dustmann & Schonberg, 2012). b. First we have to make it so all companies big and small have to supply both male and female workers with paid maternity leave.
