Original Writing A few minutes north of London, the dark-grey sky, rising above bbuildings
; tall and thin. One end of the city is filled with people, lights,
clubs and pubs. The other side of the city is quite and dark. The fog
seems to linger over the street, clutching the buildings, the
streetlamps, the entire city, in a damp, icy grip. You can tell that
winter is on its way. The buildings are camouflaged by the dark sky,
shadowing the streets. The dark alleys, the big shops, the traffic
jams, are all part of the jungle called St Johns Wood. The naked trees
move, fiercely, with the strong wind. The city was lifeless. Cold
dense rain fell, like the dark clouds above, are crying letting all
the sadness fall on the city. Tall buildings were now barley visible
the long roads looked like small pathways. Most lights were coming
from the west part of the city brightening it up. Too many coloured
Chicago also has multiple arena and stadiums to attend sporting and concert events, including Wrigley Field, US Cellular Field, Soldiers Field, United Center, Rosemont Theatre, and The Chicago Theater. I also visited Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo on the lakefront, and Brookfield Zoo which is located Southwest of the city. If you want to spend time on Lake Michigan, there are many beaches for swimming, and piers for boating. I can honestly say that Chicago has a lot to offer. I never had a boring time. Of the many things I miss about not living in Chicago, one of them is the food. I love Chicago hot dogs, pizza, and Chinese cuisine. Chicago neighborhoods have multiple, family owned restaurants and hot dog stands. You have enormous menu choices from hamburgers, cheese fries, hand dipped ice cream and shakes, hot dogs, gyros, giant fried shrimp, Italian beef, and one of my favorites, the "Confused Chicken Sandwich". Chicago also has multiple family owned pizza "joints", such as Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, Old World, Home Run Inn, and my two favorites, Amato's Pizza and Giordano's. The best Chinese food I've ever tasted is made in
Saloons were described as part of the neighborhood. An institution recognized and familiar to its people. Many laws restricted their services; however, they continued to exist. The article talks about two types of saloons. The first being the more upscale in downtown districts. These would close around midnight not in accordance to law, but demand. The other type Melendy calls “saloons [of] workingmen’s districts” (Melendy, pg. 77). He illustrates these clubs as home away from home. They supplied the basis of food supply for those whose home was in the street or for those residents of cheap lodging establishments. It is even stated that many saloons provided free lunches.
For centuries, views of the world and its inhabitants have been expressed through various ways of art or philosophy. These views can often be related to the seeking of truth to the creation of life, politics, or the problems of the world from before, now, and after. Accordingly, it is by paintings, books, or music, that words or images have an abundant effect on people. Society indicates that knowledge is power, so then why are we sometimes burdened with the errors of generations before? The quote, “writing in English is the most ingenious torture ever devised for sins committed in previous lives. The English reading public explains the reason why,” by James Joyce; points out that any novelist, historian, or author writing about our previous failures as humans in history affects any reader in a way that brings up painful memories and leaves the reader with past knowledge. To be honest, I had to grab a chair and think for what seemed like hours before I could actually comprehend what the quote was saying. I thought to myself, “How can writing about the past bring pain to the reader? I understood how writing can bring knowledge to a person, but how can it affect anything in the present?” As Vladimir Nabokov said, “In reading, one should notice and fondle details.” So, I opened up my mind and started to analyze the quote. Then, suddenly it clicked! In The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli, Machiavelli has a similar style to this quote in which he explains that any prince should not select anything else for study but the art of war. He declares through studying the histories of the art of war, “A prince will learn of many illustrious men’s causes for victory or defeat; therefore, avoiding the latter and imitating the former.”(Machiavell...
I know it is downtown as soon as I see traffic and hearing the cars honking at each other. I can always hear someone holler out, “elotes!” which means corn, strolling by with a grocery cart that has been made to convey every one of the instruments necessary to make a few scrumptious corn in a cup. If that is not enough noise already, the music of some stores will definitely catch my attention. Hip-hop music on one store then the next will have some Mexican music turned all the way up as if a block party is about to begin.
Camden is a cool place to hang out so expect it to be busy all weekend. There is a good nightlife scene in Camden so pick up leaflets near Camden Town tube station to find out what's on. Camden is popular with Londoners and visitors.
Nihilism- Original Writing Nihilism as a philosophical position is the view that the world, and especially human existence, is without meaning, purpose, comprehensible truth, or essential value. It is more often a charge leveled against a particular idea than a position to which someone is overtly subscribed. Movements such as Dada, Deconstructionism, and punk/black metal/ death metal/ metal/goth have been described by various observers as "nihilist". Nihilism is also a characteristic that has been ascribed to time periods: for example, Baudrillard has called postmodernity a nihilistic epoch, and some Christian theologians and figures of authority assert that modernity and postmodernity represent the rejection of God, and therefore are nihilist.

My grandfather had spoken about his time in the service since before I could remember. Until recently, I had never taken an interest in what he was saying. I had become curious to everything that my grandfather, Steve had said. I had heard stories that intrigued me, and had realized that this information he was speaking about was actually important to our family history.
