Action research, which has been a frequently used research method recently, is considered a fruitful research approach used by academicians and teachers to obtain systematic and scholarly information, and to develop current applications in different fields of education. Generally considered as a qualitative research method, action research makes use of both qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Its primary purpose is to understand instructional processes, to manipulate the instruction and develop it further. Action research is also considered as a bridge between theory and practice in instructional endeavors which is conducted in a planned, organized and collaborative way involving teachers’ observing their own applications, scrutinizing on problems occurred during instruction and suggesting solutions for those problems. In the current study, general characteristics of action research are introduced and its significance in teacher training and professional development are provided. In addition, possible ways to integrate action research into the curriculum of Computer Education and Instructional Education Programs were discussed in line with the teacher training curriculum changes

Each organization has a process unique to their work environment. Organizations try different strategies or systems to teach employees or acquire knowledge from them in order to promote continous improvement through changes and re-learning. Although, typically there are few key elements that are common between organizations, known as the 5 learning areas.
In his book The Fifth Discipline, Peter Senge emphasizes his model of a "learning organization," which he defines as "an organization that is continually expanding its capacity to create its future." A learning organization excels at both adaptive learning and generative learning.
Stage 2 of Kolb’s 1984 four-stage Experiential Learning Model, involves reflective observation of an experience. The cycle treats reflection as an imperative part of learning. Upon reflection of the patient counselling scenario, I have realised that actually experiencing an event, rather than simply observing, has proven effective in my learning. This is supported by Bonwell and Eison (1991) who discuss how active learning is important in aiding student education.

Experiential Learning is a powerful form of learning. As stated by Lewis and Williams “In its simplest form, experiential learning means learning from experience or learning by doing. Experiential education first immerses learners in an experience and then encourages reflection about the experience to develop new skills, new attitudes, or new ways of thinking.” (1994, p.5). Learning through experience is something that each one of us do in our daily lives, often on a subconscious level. Rather than reading, viewing or thinking of how to do something with experiential learning we can learn by doing. Traditional teaching or training may not always be the best way for all students in both the educational setting or corporate setting to learn. This may seem to be a strange statement but this learning must take place at all levels; not just the management level. Once the company has expected the need for change, it is then responsible for crating the appropriate environment for this change to occur in.

When conducting research, one may decide to traditional research or action research. This paper will address the differences between action research and traditional research regarding their use in an educational environment, as well provide explanations and examples to delineate their uses in an education setting.
Educational action research can be engaged in by a single teacher, by a group of colleagues who share an interest in a common problem, or by the entire faculty of a school.
