A: Where and How are Oranges are Produced?
Oranges are grown in many countries in the world. Some of these countries are: Brazil, the United States of America, China, EU-27, Mexico, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa, Morocco, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Argentina, Australia, Guatemala, Israel, Malaysia, Mozambique, Japan, Brazil, etc. The top three producers of oranges are: Brazil with 16,600 MT, the United states with 7,602 MT, and China with 7,000 MT. These countries contribute greatly to the worldwide production of oranges. Most oranges grow best in moist, tropical/subtropical climates. Oranges require high nitrogen fertilizers to thrive. Most oranges are grown in flat lands or plains. Oranges are require soil that is loose and is very deep. Oranges are able to grow at temperatures ranging from 55 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Orange trees do not produce oranges during the winter months. The average size of a farm in Florida is 195 acres, and it has a total of 9.2 million acres of farmland. The labor force of Florida's orange farms consists mainly of illegal Mexican immigrants. These workers are paid at a rate of 70-90 cents per 90 pound box. They earn less than 75 dollars each day. Some farmers in Florida are turning to machines for cheap labor. These machines are more efficient than the immigrant workers. This decreases the amount of time needed to pick many oranges. These new machines are called "canopy shakers". A company called Southern Gardens Citrus is vertically integrating farms into its company. This company has more than 16,500 acres of groves with 1.8 million orange trees. In order to thrive, orange trees need high levels of direct sunlight. Orange trees can continue to survive with small amounts of shade coveri...

((((Within a week, the price of oranges decreased by 40 cents. On Monday, February the 17th, the price of oranges was $1.67 per pound. One day later, the price of oranges increased by 20 cents. This happened because there was a greater demand for oranges in the area. Two days later, the price of oranges decreased by 60 cents. A surplus in oranges would lower the price. This happened because the oranges were nearing expiration, or massive amounts of oranges were sent. For the rest of the week, a price of $1.27 was maintained.

In “Oranges”, Gary Soto celebrates the love and affection a twelve years old boy had for his girl in the winter season. The first line of the poem makes it clear that the boy was just twelve years old when he was first able to walk down the street with a girl. The poem illustrates the nervousness he displayed as they walked down the street “cold and weighted down with two oranges in my jacket” depicts how the boy was nervous. As being nervous would get you to notice every little thing that happens around you and notice even the slightest things. As a typical twelve years old lad, he did not know what to expect on his first date with his girl.
In the article, “A Legacy of Illness: The Healing Process Is Far From Done” by Amanda Spake, the use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War is shown to be detrimental to Vietnam War veterans’ mental and physical health. The aftermath and effects of the agent did not and still does not receive the acknowledgment it deserves. The depth of the mental and physical distress of Vietnam veterans exposed to the agent is dismissed by the Veteran Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs and the general public. It is from this lack of awareness for the hardships of the veterans of the Vietnam War endangered by Agent Orange that their psychological and physical struggles stem.
The Fruits of Love Revealed in Gary Soto's Oranges! Imagine it's winter and cold outside. There's nervous electricity around you, and love is a new and exciting experience. In your heart, you feel warmth you've never known before.
“Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday conveys the inhumane, gory lynchings of African-Americans in the American South, and how this highly unnatural act had entrenched itself into the society and culture of the South, almost as if it were an agricultural crop. Although the song did not originate from Holiday, her first performance of it in 1939 in New York City and successive recording of the song became highly popular for their emotional power (“Strange fruit,” 2017). The lyrics in the song highlight the contrast between the natural beauty and apparent sophistication of the agricultural South with the brutal violence of lynchings. Holiday communicates these rather disturbing lyrics through a peculiarly serene vocal delivery, accompanied by a hymn-like
The experiment that was performed consisted of prices being manipulated on a set of 72 grocery products over a six week period. The products were classified as stock-up goods or non stock-up goods.
D. Assume that all the factors affecting demand in this model remain the same, but that the price has changed. Further assume that the price changes are 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 cents. Outline the significant factors that could cause changes in supply and demand for the low-calorie, frozen microwavable food. Determine the primary manner in which both the short-term and the long-term changes in market conditions could impact the demand for, and the supply, of the product.
Health effects are prominent in Vietnam veterans but denied by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As reported in the American Legion Magazine, “The defoliant also is believed to have poisoned many people who handled it or passed through sprayed locations. After the war, a conspicuous percentage of veterans contracted various cancers or diabetes, and birth defects occurred at high rate among their children, VA compensation and care were denied (Carroll).” Denial of these severe diseases and unnatural occurrences by the VA could be construed as a cover-up for the government’s mistake or a truthful disconnect of Agent Orange and the diseases. Research has shown, “Dioxin has been found to be a carcinogen associated with Parkinson’s disease,

Economic events are largely governed by the interaction of supply and demand. The law of supply states that with ‘all else being equal’ (ceteris paribus), as market price of a good or service increases/decreases so will an increase/decrease in quantity supplied. In turn, the law of demand states as market price of a good or service increases/decreases ceteris paribus, the quantity demanded will increase/decrease accordingly. The Australian avocado industry is an indicative example of microeconomics - the study of individual consumer or business decision making and spending behaviour in relation to the allocation of a limited resource and the correlation of supply and demand in determining
For my label I made a picture of a smiling orange wearing sunglasses skateboarding along a trail through a grassy field at sunset. In the background of the image there is a red barn with a silo, 2 palm trees, the ocean, some mountains on the upper far right, and a line of 7 orange trees on the left. On the border of the image there are many oranges hanging from orange trees along with 2 california poppy flowers among them. On the ground of the image there are shadows of palm trees. There is text in the image that says “California Orange People”. I mainly used the program Krita to make the image. I also used the program Gimp, but only to add the text.
The sales director proposed that if the firm were to reduce the price of Item 345 to FF15.00/m, they would be able to increase sales to 175,000 units (or 25% of industry volume). But if they were to keep the price at the current value of FF20.00/m, they would be able to sell not less than 75,000 units (or 11% of industry volume).
Between 1999 and 2000, there is a Y2K bug with the computers and many other electronic items because of the early setting with the computer program. People set the year with only two digits in the computer program, as the changing of the year 1999 to 2000, the digit will change from “99” to “00” which might cause the confusion of the data storage and might change from “1999” back to “1900” or “19100”(See [1]). As this might have a big influence to the society, the price of the gold also might have a big change. Therefore in the article, Swart gave out the example of the changes of gold’s price between 1999 to 2000 because of the scare from Y2K and the millennium fever. The use of financial concepts and Linear Algebra tells the readers about how the price can be changes at that period of time. The difference of the increasing or reducing the price of gold for $1 will cause the huge difference of profit after 2000. So the business needs to determine a price of gold that fair to both customers and the business. Swart uses the...
