• Cancer medicines (chemotherapy).
• Radiation therapy.
• Bone marrow transplants and stem cell transplants.
Oral mucositis is not caused by infection. However, the sores can become infected after they form. Infection can make oral mucositis worse.

electronic cigarettes. • Who drink alcohol . • Have other medical conditions, such as diabetes, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), or kidney disease. • Who do not drink enough fluids. • Who wear dentures that do not fit correctly. • Who are older. SYMPTOMS Symptoms can vary from mild to severe. Symptoms usually show up 7–10 days after starting treatment. Symptoms may include: • Mouth sores. They may bleed. • Color changes inside the mouth. Red, shiny areas may appear. • White patches or pus in the mouth. • Pain in the mouth and throat. This can make it painful to speak. • Dryness and a burning feeling in the mouth. • Saliva that is dry and thick. • Trouble eating, drinking, and swallowing. This can lead to weight loss. DIAGNOSIS This condition can be diagnosed with a physical exam. Then, the condition is given a grade. This helps your health care provider treat the condition: • Grade 1: The inside of the mouth is sore and red. • Grade 2: There is redness in the mouth. Open sores are present. Swallowing food might be uncomfortable. • Grade 3: There are open sores. The mouth is very red. It is very hard to swallow food. • Grade 4: No food or drink can be swallowed. TREATMENT Oral mucositis usually heals on its own. Sometimes, changes in the cancer treatment can help. Treatment may also include medicines, such as: • An antibiotic medicine to fight infection, if present. • Medicine to help the cells in your mouth heal more quickly. Medicine may also be given to help control pain. This may include: • Pain relievers that are swished around in the mouth. They will make the mouth numb to ease the pain (topical anesthetics). • Mouth rinses.
• Prescribed, medicated gels. The gel coats the mouth. This protects nerve endings and lowers pain.
• Narcotic pain medicines.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
• If you were prescribed antibiotic medicine, finish all of it even if you start to feel better.

Hello my name is Carolina Castro and today I’m going to inform you about the importance of brushing and flossing your teeth and the appropriate technique to do it.
Periodontal disease is an infection of the gum tissue that can cause damage to the tissues and the bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease is caused by the combination of bacteria and plaque to form a biofilm, which adheres to the tooth surface, resulting in inflammation. Periodontal disease is broken down into two stages, gingivitis and periodontitis. According to research, about 70 to 90 percent of people have some form of the periodontal disease. Periodontal disease has been known to increase in severity with age [1] and has shown to be the leading cause of tooth loss in many adults.
Periodontal disease involves series of infections that occur within gum tissues of the mouth and the surrounding of teeth. Some infections cause simple inflammation of the gum tissues and in some cases it causes server damage within the soft tissues and bones, and a possibility of losing teeth. Periodontal disease can be prevented if people were more educated on how to keep healthy gums and teeth. People need to also understand that the way you live your lifestyle can also have effect on your health as far as oral hygiene.

Eliminating bacteria through good oral hygiene is not possible. The gum tissue begins pulling away from the teeth. This creates pockets that allow bacteria to build up, which leads to an infection. As your body fights the harmful bacteria, the bone and tissue holding the teeth in place begins to break down. The pockets deepen and begin filling with pus.
Floss after every meal, if possible. Flossing is a very important companion to regular brushing because it is the one procedure that really gets to clean between the teeth, removing minuscule food scraps that could have gotten stuck there. Why is it necessary? To prevent the proliferation of bacteria and plaque which in turn can cause halitosis (bad breath) and tooth decay.
In conclusion, its recommended that patients brush two-three times a day two minutes long to insure that most of the bacteria is removed from the teeth, gums, and tongue also. Flossing after every meal should also be done regularly because of left foods that get stuck between the teeth. There are many kinds of toothpaste, but not all contain fluorine. Its important that you chose on that does have fluorine because it rebuild tooth enamel and strengthen the tooth too.

-Cyst that arises from epithelium entrapped within lymphoid tissue. It presents as a superficial submucosal mass that is yellow or whitish in coloration. The most frequent location is in the floor of the mouth followed by the posterior lateral border of the tongue, soft palate, tonsillar pillars, orophorynx, and the ventral tongue. The entrapped epithelium may have originated from salivary gland ducts or from the lining epithelium of surface invaginations plugged with desquamative keratin. Surgical excision can be performed; however, it is not necessary.
All practicing dentists, dental associates, and laboratories follow standard precautions and recommendations specified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The standard precautions, previously known as the universal standard precautions, focus on the perception that all blood and bodily fluids, regardless if they contain blood, such as saliva, may be contaminated and should be considered infectious. (Bebermeyer). The infection control methods that are practiced in dental offices were established by the CDC in 2003 with Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Healthcare Settings (Kohn).
