Operation Valkyrie was an assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944. After many aborted attempts of the assassination, Claus von Stauffenburg carried a briefcase with a ticking bomb inside into a conference room with Hitler and about twenty others. Stauffenburg and the other plotters planned to kill Hitler and take over the German government to assume control of the government, end eventually end the war. Even though Germany was already committed to World War II, Operation Valkyrie would have altered the course of the war, had it been successful.
By 1944, Germany was already too committed to World War II for the death of Hitler to make a difference. It had almost been five years since the war started, in September 1939. Germany invaded Poland on September 1st, and France and England declared war on Germany. Operation Valkyrie was attempted in 1944, so the war had already been raging for about five years. Also Germany had invaded thirteen countries when Operation Valkyrie was attempted, and Germany’s enemies would not have let them end the war with all of the new territories. Millions of people had been killed in the Holocaust by 1944. The Holocaust began in 1933, and a total of 11 million people were killed, including two thirds of all European Jews. The entire world would not have allowed Germany to get away with the killing of millions without the German’s suffering as well, by losing the war.
Another Nazi leader could have taken Hitler’s position, had he been killed. Himmler would have assumed power if Hitler died. Himmler was the SS chief, and would have taken over after Hitler if the coup was not successful, but Hitler was dead (Galante and Silianoff 36). Operation Valkyrie was originally a contingency plan from...

The Nazi Party would have no longer had any power in Germany after the successful coup. The modified Operation Valkyrie was just a code word for a coup d’etat of the Nazi party. The plan was for the German army in Berlin to seize power and secure their districts. Once Hitler was
Even though Germany was very committed to World War II, Operation Valkyrie would have altered the course of the war, had it been successful. Had Operation Valkyrie been successful Germany could have made peace agreements with the Western Allies, and the war would have been over before they got completely destroyed. Germany could have annexed and kept some of its conquered territories. The coup of the Nazi party would kick all Nazis out of the government. And most importantly Adolf Hitler would be dead.
Not even the most powerful Germans could keep up with the deaths of so many people, and to this day there is no single wartime document that contains the numbers of all the deaths during the Holocaust. Although people always look at the numbers of people that were directly killed throughout the Holocaust, there were so many more that were affected because of lost family. Assuming that 11 million people died in the Holocaust, and half of those people had a family of 3, 16.5 million people were affected by the Holocaust. Throughout the books and documentaries that we have watched, these key factors of hate and intolerance are overcome. The cause of the Holocaust was hate and intolerance, and many people fighting against it overcame this hate
The battle of Stalingrad is argued to be one of the most significant strategizing battle for the Germans. If Germany had won Stalingrad there would have been no fight left for the Russians to have. Instead, Germany made a hasty decision to attack in order to prevent Russia from coming up with a strategy which put Germany at a disadvantage. By the end of Stalingrad the Russians had managed to push back the Germans and put them on the defensive. If Russia had lost in their battle against Nazi Germany the United States and Great Britain would have faced a much harsher fight against Nazi Germany. Some would even argue that it would have been next to impossible for America to win against Nazi
Adolph Hitler once said, “Whoever lights the torch of war in Europe can wish for nothing but chaos.” Many of Hitler’s generals realized the truth of that statement. Multiple times they attempted to keep him from wreaking havoc on the German way of life. Their repeated warnings went unheard, resulting in Germany’s downfall. The German war effort was vastly influenced by the Anti-Nazi tendencies of Hitler’s senior officers.
If Germany would have succeeded in winning the First World War, many things would have changed. If Germany had not have lost the First World War, many things would have changed. The world’s economy would be different. There would have been different world powers. The countries of the world would have been altered. The Second World War would not have happened. The effects of the winner of the First World War were colossal. The outcome of the First World War had an immense impact on the world. If Germany would have won the First World War, the world would be an exceptionally different place.
Hitler announced that the national revolution had begun and declared the formation of a new government. After a short struggle including 20 deaths, the coup, known as the "Beer Hall Putsch," failed.
Operation Valkyrie is directly linked to the July bomb plot of 1944 which was attempt by senior German army officers to kill Hitler. It was the closest successful attempt to assassinate Hitler. The plotters involved in the July bomb plot planned to use operation Valkyrie which officially passed the command of Germany over to the reserve (home) army to remove the power of the SD, gestapo and SS. Three of the major powers of Hitler’s power base, Also when Hitler died the soldiers under his command would be released from their oath to him. Claus von Stauffenberg a German army commander was the mastermind behind all this planning. He decided earlier in the 1942 that he must try overthrow Hitler. Throughout the summer of 1942 he persuaded senior commanders to move against Hitler, and he then declared in September 1942 that he himself was prepared to kill Hitler. On July, 20, 1944 a meeting at the Wolfs lair conference took place (Hitler’s secret base) with Hitler and high ranking German officers loyal to him. Stauffenburg planted an explosive in his briefcase under the table that
The Night of Long Knives, one of the most noteworthy events during Hitler’s rule, was a purge that occurred on the 30th June 1934. Hitler ordered the murders of conspicuous Conservative anti-Nazis such as Kurt Von Schleicher and Gustav Ritter von Kahr, Left wing Nazis such as Gregor Strasser and many members of the SA including its leader Ernst Rohm. It could be claimed that the murders were significant as they ended a possible takeover by the SA, deterred and intimidated Conservative critics while gaining their support, saw the rise of the SS, introduced terror and dictatorship into mainstream life and reassured the elites and the army. It could be alleged that a significance of the Night of Long Knives was that it prevented a possible takeover by the SA.
To begin with the holocaust had a great impact in history even though it was a time of disaster, murder, and discrimination. It was a time in which Adolf Hitler,German politician and Nazi party leader, wanted all Jews suffering or dead. Adolf Hitler turned everyone against the Jews because he believed that they were to wealthy and too powerful so he wanted to eliminate all of them. The Jews went through a lot of suffering and pain. The German soldiers which took commands from their leader, Adolf Hitler, put some Jews to work and killed others. Many Jews didn't get to work they were killed instantly. All women were separated from the man and woman were mostly killed instantly only some got the opportunity to work. The some ways that the jews were killed is that they were put into gas chambers by tons or shot by soldiers. Jews were also dying by starvation dehydration soldiers would not give them enough food or water. They would only want those with blue eyes and blonde hair they discriminated all the others. Soldiers would not only kill the Jews but torture them for anything they did. The Jews would be transported from camp to camp walking even in the worst weather conditions which also many died from it.
Nazi leader Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was one of the most powerful and infamous dictators of the 20th century. After World War I, he rose to power in the National Socialist German Workers Party, taking control of the German government in 1933. His establishment of concentration camps to inter Jews and other groups he believed to be a threat to Aryan supremacy resulted in the death of more than 6 million people in the Holocaust. His attack on Poland in 1939 started World War II, and by 1941 Germany occupied much of Europe and North Africa. The tide of the war turned following an invasion of Russian and the U.S. entry into battle, and Hitler killed himself shortly before Germany was defeated.
In the spring of 1940 Europe was enveloped in war. The German military machine had already conquered Poland, Denmark, and Norway. However, not content with northern and eastern expansion, Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been obsessed with attacking and controlling France. After their defeat in World War I, the German people, government, and military were humiliated by the enormous post war sanctions leveraged against them from the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler wanted to defeat and humiliate the French people in the same way that his country had to experience. For him, revenge was necessary. The German plan was to swing into France using a new tactic know as Blitzkrieg or “Lightning War”. Blitzkrieg used speed and surprise along with highly concentrated tank corps, supported by mechanized infantry and airplanes.
In the early 1920, Ernest Röhm organized a group called Stormtrooper. They played a powerful role in making Hitler’s new regime stronger and weakening the Weimar Republic. Röhm emigrated to Bolivia in 1928 after a few scandals and setback. In 1930, Röhm was brought back to Germany by Hitler to reorganize the Stormtroopers. Once Hitler became chancellor, he started to view the Stormtroopers as a liability. The Stormtroopers had grown restless for action; dissatisfied with the slow pace of change. Many believed Hitler sold them out for the sake of respectability. The Schutzstaffel wanted the upper hand on their rivals, Stormtroopers. Hitler moved against the Stormtroopers because he considered them thugs with no public order. On June 30,1934, Hitler ordered the Schutzstaffel to strike. This attack was used to get rid of people Hitler believed to be problematic, such as Gregor Strasser, Ernest Röhm, General Kurt von Schleicher, and the priest who helped write Mein Kampf. The number of people killed is unknown; however, more than eighty high-ranking Stormtroopers were shot. Germany military leader considered this attack appropriate in the interest of public safety. President Hindenburg even congratulated Hitler for restoring order. Many believed the Nazi regime had become an ordinary government, but Victor Klemperer had different beliefs. He
The Wolf will be dead by lunch. The conspirators agreed. He had a meeting with Benito Mussolini and his chain of command. That would be his last meeting. In 1944 and 1945, The Valkyrie plot, the bunker gas plot, and Rommel’s coup contributed to the fall of Nazi Germany and the death of Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi Party.
The conspirators of the July 20 Plot were not successful in taking a stand against Hitler, because Hitler survived, the Nazi party solidified their power, and many of the conspirators were caught and killed. Within this paper, you shall find a short background of the July 20 Plot, which contains the motives of the conspirators, the events of the July 20 Plot, and a complete explanation of my thesis.
...nd British troops began to invade Germany. Hitler’s Wife took poison, killing her-self, Hitler took some poison but it didn’t work so he shot his self. The other leaders that helped Hitler also killed their self’s so they didn’t have to do the time in prison for what they did. The American troops and the other troops found the bodies of these leaders and burned them to make sure they were long gone. But it wasn’t in a few days that the news that Hitler was dead came out to the public.
The Night of the Long Knives was another key event that helped Hitler obtain power over Germany in the period 1933-1939. The Night of the Long Knives, which was also known as ‘Operation Hummingbird’, took place on 30 June-2 July 1934, it was a great purge by Hitler to eliminate anyone who he distrusted, anyone who was anti-Nazi and members of the SA. The SA leader, Ernst Rohm, former Chancellor of Germany Kurt von Schleicher and an important Nazi member Gregor Strasser were some of the people Hitler saw as a threat to his power. Hitler perceived Ernst Rohm as a threat to his power because of Rohm’s actions, such as his suggestion of merging the general army with the SA under his command. Hitler did not like this idea because the Army regarded
