Open lunch, a waste of money and a risk of your student’s life. It is safer to be at the school rather than be out roaming the town. If a student was late to get back they would hurry and perhaps make poorer decisions then they would if they weren’t in a hurry. They could easily get hurt by a car or have a collision with another vehicle. What I believe would happen if we opened the open lunch up to more people, they would hurry and eat fast and start to mess around. They could vandalize or something else. They could even get involved in drugs like smoking marijuana or some other drugs. Every kid knows that they could never do drugs in school they would be caught almost instantly. This security is weakened when more people are allowed to leave the school. They could go out and bring stuff back into the school like weapons or drugs/paraphilia. They could fight or do other things detrimental to their health; also the kids whose family couldn’t afford to let them go out to eat open lunch, the other kids would tease them and make fun of them. The traffic would also become a lot worse; students could get hit trying to cross the street. It would also arise anger in nearby residents like in Amarillo, Texas. “The decision came after area residents complained students were clogging the streets during lunch, creating a hazardous situation for drivers and students,” reports Jennifer Wilson. Money for a high school student Is kind of a hard thing to come by. So I mean eating out every day, even if just gas station food, is still expensive. Even if just a dollar here a dollar there, It adds up almost exponentially then if you look back at all the money you’ve spent you realize you’ve spent quite a good chuck of change. Money in which you could’ve put fuel in your car, purchase new supplies, or fix your laptop. Maybe, though god forbid, you actually save it. Put it in a savings account for college, or to move out. As a high school student I know how hard it is to not spend money. But if you take how much you spend every week on food and cut down like half, I mean do you really need an extra-large? You take the money saved and put it in a savings account after a few months you’ll realize how much money you’ve actually been spending and I don’t think sophomores and juniors will realize this and spend a lot of money where then in their senior year they may need the money a lot more.
