THE SPINNING PLANET
Like there are borders dividing nations, the world was divided into day and night. Half of the planet was day and the other half was the night. On the day side it was always hot because the sun was always shining on them nd on the night side the weather was very cold because there was no sun to heat them. The sun was controlled by the goddess, Hemera and the night was controlled by the goddess Nyx, Hemeras daughter. They both had gone far away from Olympus on personal business and had left the gods and goddesses of Olympus five moons and suns incase they were needed while they were gone. They certainly did need them. After noticing that the people of earth need both the day and the night the gods and

goddesses of Olympus decided that they shall provide the people of earth with day and night. After thinking long and hard, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, decide they needed to consult Athena. “In order for there to be day and night on earth celestial bodies will have to go into motion” Athena advises the three gods. “She must mean the moon ” Zeus thought.
With the help of Anemoi, the Zeus made the moon orbit earth. They thought that it would bring earth night and day. But it didn’t. The moon crashed into the sun. The gods then had to use one moon and sun from the five left by Nyx and Hemera.
“Maybe she was talking about moving the sun” Poseidon thought.
With the help of Anemoi Poseidon then tried to move the sun to bring earth night and day. Poseidon failed again and had the sun crash into the moon. Once again earth still did not have night and day. The gods then had to use another sun and moon left by the goddesses.
“Maybe she meant moving both the sun and moon” Hades thought.
He then reached out to the Anemoi for there strong wind and made the moon and the sun orbit around the earth. The moon and the sun did not crash into each other for years bringing earth night and day.
Years later the moon and the sun began to spin and spin really fast until they gained so much speed that they orbited out in tot the center of the galaxy and exploded making a giant sun.
“Well, we have tried over and over again but nothing seem to work. We will just have to wait until Nyx and Hemera to return.”. Hades
suggested. “We have to keep trying” Zeus argued. “Maybe the moon or the sun should move with earth.” Poseidon followed. Once again the there gods called the Anemoi and there winds for help. They made the moon and earth move. They made the moon orbit the earth and made the earth orbit the sun that was formed at the center of the galaxy. The gods celebrated their accomplishment, too early. The sun was too close to the planet and was making the earth boil. So they decide to pull it farther from the sun. Earth was pulled too far that it began freezing. The gods tried again by placing it in the middle of the sun and its freezing point. The earth had stable weather and there was finally day and night on earth.
However Vala mentions that the Sun didn’t have her “hall” yet or know her purpose nor did Moon, noted to be Sun’s companion, know its purpose yet. The Northern Europeans understandably associated the sun and moon together as it appeared that one rose at night and one in the morning and both celestial objects glowed and must’ve held a purpose or influenced life on earth.
From the beginning, the gods emerged from “cosmic forces” and slowly defined their individual personalities and forms, “their functions articulated in relation to each other” (Clay 105). The authority of Zeus forces the rest of the gods to keep their powers balanced by filling certain niches. In the Eumenides, Pythia begins by singing a prayer to honor the gods. Although she first honors Gaia, Pythia spends a few lines talking about Apollo and his relation to Zeus. When she calls on Zeus, she calls him “the Fulfiller, the highest god” (Aeschylus, Eumenides, p. 112, 17-19). Her approval and reverence towards Zeus is made clear immediately. Even before that, Pythia acknowledges that Apollo was “Zeus inspired” and the “spokesman of Zeus,” thus making him higher up in her hierarchy of gods (Aeschylus, Eumenides, p. 112, 17-19). Zeus is known for his many godly offspring who were all “Zeus inspired”. Along with Apollo, god of music and arts, this list also includes Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. Being made from the same cosmic forces, all of the gods developed their own strengths to fulfil certain niches (Clay 106) At the end of this individualization process, there is the “emergence of a stable, ordered, and harmonious cosmos” (Clay 106). As a result, new standards of conforming and being uniform became apparent through the
In the beginning of the creation of Earth volcanoes erupted all over the planet. During this period there was a time where a brief cooling period was allowed to take place. When this period took place evaporation caused a downpour of rain which flooded the ocean creating the ocean. At the time that ocean was averaged at 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Around this same time an asteroid so powerful hit the Earth knocking off a large chunk of it. This chunk became the moon which at the time was twice as close as it is today. The hitting of the planet Earth cause such a shake that many new undersea volcanoes began spewing forth molten rock and gasses. These gasses and other particles formed on the oceans surface and with the moon being so close were smashed together by strong and violent waves.
After the end of the fourth world, all the gods gathered at the Aztec’s main city, or Teotihuacán, to discuss the creation of the fifth world. They chose two gods: a wealthy, healthy one and a poor, sickly one that would both jump into the sacrificial fire. When they were sacrificed, the first sunrise of the fifth world was supposed to occur, but as the gods waited nothing happened.... ... middle of paper ...

Gods and goddesses in mythology are used in allusions and often referred to in our daily lives, but do we truly understand them? We may not understand how or why they look the way they do, how they behave, what they are capable of accomplishing, or how they interacted with humans. These super-beings of extremely high status were the heart and soul of prayers and explanations of natural phenomena. They had a variety of natures and were represented in a variety of ways, by different religions.
Stars are born and reborn from an explosion of a previous star. The particles and helium are brought together the same way the last star was born. Throughout the life of a star, it manages to avoid collapsing. The gravitational pull from the core of the star has to equal the gravitational pull of the gasses, which form a type of orbit. When this equality is broken, the star can go into several different stages. Some stars that are at least thirty times larger than our sun can form black holes and other kinds of stars.
Geb, the God of earth, and Nut the goddess of the sky, were born to Shu and Tefnut. Shu lifted Nut to tower over Geb. Nut and Geb then had four children. Their names were Isis, Seth, Osiris, and Nephthys. Osiris and Isis were king and queen over earth. One day, Seth killed Osiris, because he was jealous and wanted to be king over the earth. Osiris was then sent to the underworld, and Seth became king of the earth. Horus, Osiris and Isis’ son fought Seth and became king of the earth, and Osiris king of the underworld.
Some of the gods were Zeus, who was the ruler of all the gods, Hera was his wife, and Hermes was his messenger. Artemis was the goddess of the moon, and Apollo was the god of the sun. Poseidon was the god of the sea, Loki, the god of mischief, and, Dionysus, the god of wine.
As giving light to humans was too difficult and consume of power higher, they had to sacrifice one of the four gods, this god has to kill himself by leaping into a fire. Each god sacrificed creates a new sun, and by getting a new sun it gives a new element to help the all humans (Maestri, Aztec).~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set was not like some gods who created themselves out of nothingness. Set was given life by the gods Nut (Mother) and Geb (Father), the Sky and Earth. Set was one of the four children that were born. The legend of how Set and the four others were born was a famous one. Before the five powers were born, Ra was the king. He was the one and only king. And also a year in the Egyptian calendar is only 360 days. Then the god of wisdom, Thoth, told Ra of a prophecy that the children of his daughter, Nut, will overthrow him. Ra was furious and scared because Thoth’s prophecies are always correct. Ra was the king and his order was law. He made a curse that debars Nut to give birth on any days of the 360-day-year. Thoth was friends with Nut so he was also sad with Nut. But Thoth came up with a plan. He played a game of gamble with the moon-god Khonsu. Every time Thoth wins, he gains some moonlight from the moon-god. Khonsu was very good at gambling but Thoth was the god of wisdom so Thoth always wins. Thoth gains enough moonlight to make five new days for the five children. Now each year have 365 days. Back then, the moon was able to shine fully every day. But Thoth took the moonlight to make five new days so the moon only has e...
Genesis 1:14-19 says “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years” (Genesis 1:14-19). God made two great lights – one to govern the day and a lesser light to govern the night. The sun and the moon were created. God made the sun and moon for our benefit. The sun lights up the earth during the day, but the moon gives earth light during the night. These two lights indicate seasons, days, and years. God continued his creation of light for the Earth by also creating the stars that make up our galaxies and the universe. Now that He had provided everything needed for living creatures, all was ready for the fifth
The Greeks were polytheistic, which means they believe in many gods/goddesses. The Ancient Greeks believed that a family of gods lived in a cloud palace above Mount Olympus which is the highest mountain in Greece. These gods were thought to have special powers, and each had control over a different aspect of life. Zeus became leader because he helped his siblings get out of cronus and so they made him their leader. A few examples are; Zeus the king of the gods, Poseidon the king of the oceans and water, and Athena which is the goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts, and literature. Zeus created some of these constellations many years ago.
According to Greek myths about creation, the god Chaos (Greek for ?Gaping Void?) was the foundation of all things. From Chaos came Gaea (?Earth?); the bottomless depth of the underworld, known as Tartarus; and Eros (?Love?). Eros, the god of love, was needed to draw divinities together so they might produce offspring. Chaos produced Night, while Gaea first bore Uranus, the god of the heavens, and after him produced the mountains, sea, and gods known as Titans. The Titans were strong and large, and they committed arrogant deeds. The youngest and most important Titan was Cronus. Uranus and Gaea, who came to personify Heaven and Earth, also gave birth to the Cyclopes, one-eyed giants who made thunderbolts.
