I’d like to start by saying thank you! Thank you for being with me, for so many years. You were my support. My haven. You were my hope, my hope for a better future; one better than a rusted bed frame, corrupt finances and cement walls all decorated with floor length iron bars. You were my freedom, you were what kept me alive.
I’m sure you understand, there were days where I just wanted out. Not probation out, death out. You don’t know Boggs, count yourself one of the lucky ones but it was during his time here with his group of sisters. These sisters were not biologically related women at all, these sisters were a ‘bull queer’ group, a bunch of grown men enjoying unconsented sex with other men. They were abusive. They made me do things, things

It's tremendously important that you understand how much I LOVE Louise. I'm telling you this because I made the mistake of not telling her every chance I could and now she's gone and she'll never know. I also don't want you starting a new believing I was guilty of something I'm not. I don't want your life to be defined by something I was wrongly accused of. You are not the product of my guilt. You don't deserve to feel like are. I want you to be confident in knowing that where you came from was love, be it not shown but love nonetheless. It's the kind of passion I should have shown her that had the potential to move mountains or to sail the seven seas. It’s the same type and amount of passion that also has the potential to turn our hopes into realities. I can’t tell you how to find such a passion, that’s now up to you. I’m passing the torch, I’m sharing my knowledge. Don’t make the same mistake as I did with Louise, don’t let your passion be …show more content…
Make my experiences your learning curve, my mistakes your motivation, my imprisonment your freedom. It's funny, even before the judge sentenced me I was trapped in my career, by my emotions and my inability to express them. It took me losing everything I had to finally realise and find what was, in fact, the most important thing in my life. But by then it was too late, I had already lost Louise and she was never coming back. It's not too late for you Randall, I have given you an opportunity to be free! Not to escape but to start a fresh and atone for whatever wrongs you’ve done. Randall, you have been given what almost every human on earth desires, a second chance. Make the most of it. Do not stop until you succeed in whatever you set out to do. I DID NOT CRAWL THROUGH SEVERAL YARDS OF SHIT TO LET YOU FAIL! I don’t mean to come off harsh but I want you to understand, it is imperative you understand. You have been given a new life with a wealth of knowledge, from me and my old life. Use it. Please, if not for you for
“Straining his eyes, he saw the lean figure of General Zaroff. Then... everything went dark. Maggie woke up in her bed. “Finally woke up from that nightmare. Man… I miss my brother. Who was that person that my brother wanted to kill?” she looks at the clock and its 9:15am “Crap I’m late for work!” Maggie got in her car and drove to the hospital for work.
I am the wife of an innocent dead man. I raised three without a father. People see us as less. We are the Robinson, and me I’m Helen Robinson. Living in the deep south in the 1930’s wineries. The Depression affected most everyone in Maycomb except for us. All of the blacks in the county live in one area outside of the landfill. I lived on the edge of farm which grows acres of cotton every year. We were a poor family that sharecropped. There weren't many people in Maycomb who treated us kindly except for Mr. Link Deas and the Finches. One year the white trash family accused my Tom for a serious crime that he never did. For months we never saw him due to the polices never let blacks and women in. The Finches and neighbours came and helped during
Calvin Johnson (along with co-writer Greg Hampikian) begins his memoir, Exit to Freedom (The University of Georgia Press; 2003), with this inhumane description of prison life. He finds himself in this situation one year after being wrongfully convicted of raping a woman in Clayton, GA. His story, the self proclaimed “only firsthand account of a wrongful conviction overturned by DNA evidence," soon leaves the swamp and takes the reader inside the prison itself. The “code of prison etiquette” is related through adages such as “never to get between fighting dogs” and “only dead men broke up fights, and only snitches talked to guards.” These jailhouse proverbs are backed up by anecdotes of brutal fights, broken prison rules, and punishments, such as a transgressor who is brutally stabbed in his sleep. Characters such as Lefty, a prisoner who signals a fight by removing his glass eye and placing it on the sink,...
You wouldn’t believe everything that's been going for the past two weeks. Remember Betty Parris? She fell into a “sickness” but I heard that there's something darker to the story… witchcraft. . Eventually she woke up and started screaming some nonsense about wanting her mother, who’s been dead for what feels like ages now. That's how you know something sinister is afoot. The only thing that could calm her down was Rebecca Nurse. I don’t know about you, but I think that's pretty suspicious that out of all the people in town, only Goody Nurse could get some sense into the child. Rumor has it that she was caught flying over the Ingersoll’s barn the just a few nights ago. That's just the beginning of it..
Convicts rarely serve their entire sentences in prison (Ross and Richards, 146). To alleviate the costs of imprisonment on taxpayers and lessen the staggering populations of prisons across America, it is simply prudent to let inmates out on parole. Unfortunately, the parole system is imperfect and often leads to many ex-convicts recidivating. With the various trials and challenges that ex-convicts are bound to face when rejoining society after prison, Ross and Richards provide valuable lessons in their book of how a convict might survive beyond bars.
I would like to thank all of you for coming here today to help us, as a family, to heal, and to celebrate my mother’s life.
Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump… “Maggie.” Channing Tatum was running towards me through a field of daisies. “Maggie,” he said through smiles. “Maggie. Maggie!” he yelled across the meadow. “MAGGIE!” I felt a slight stinging sensation on the top of my foot. Why is Channing Tatum yelling at me? “MAGGIE WAKE UP!!” I shot out of my wonderful dream, and returned to dull reality. As I sat up from my sleeping position in the old dingy red minivan, I bumped my forehead on the little notch used to hang garments from. “OW!!” I shrieked. My headphones fell off my head, and I saw my little brother in the middle seats motioning to my mom.
Thank you to all of our amazing family and friends for everything you have done. Words aren’t enough to express our love and gratitude we have for you.
With Colt Lundy’s murdering his stepfather by firing four shots of a gun, he was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment and 5 years’ probation. There were ways Colt could’ve handled the situation and prevented his imprisonment from happening. Colt could have talked to someone about his problems that were happening at home and search for support or even a support group in his local area. Instead of dealing with the problem the way he did. He could’ve thought it through before he acted but due to his ‘reasons’, he mustn’t have had the will power to overcome the negative
Melinda was my absolute best friend. And I ruined it. We did everything together. Anything either of us did, the other one did the same. From soccer, to pink nail polish, to simply what we ate for lunch. I ruined it. She went through everything with me: thick and thin. I ruined it. I should’ve known. The night of the party. That’s when it all happened. I should’ve went to find her in the woods because I knew she was drunk. I saw her running back to the house like something had happened to her. I saw her take her phone out of her pocket. I saw her hit three numbers. I saw her put her phone up her to ear. When the police showed up I automatically assumed the worst. I had assumed that Melinda called the cops on the party to get it shut down. I never even once thought that there
I was 2:00 pm a quiet afternoon on the Air Canada Airlines. Everyone was silent until a 50 year old white woman came into the plane and began a rukas. As she arrives to her seat she has a disgusted look on her face. The passenger next to her was a black man who was in his mid 30's minding his own buisness. But he couldn't help notice that there was a furious white woman calling out to the flight attendent. The flight attendent arrived and asked, "What's the problem, ma'am?" The white woman yells at her and says, "Can't you see !? I've been given a seat next to a black man, why would you put me next to such an abomination..., disgracful...,nigger. Change my seat right now!" Everyone in the other seats were very suprised to see how ignorannt this woman was and how she even were to use such words.
Good afternoon, let me just start by saying that the kindness, support, friendship, and love extended to me and my family during this difficult time has really touched my heart- we are sincerely appreciative!
Greg Ousley, at the age of fourteen, cold bloodily murder his parents and was sentenced to a 60 year sentence in prison. Although Greg Ousley may be perceived as a cold-blooded killer who murder his parents, he is working to improve himself and get an education in prison. After many sessions of psychological counseling, Greg began to comprehend why he murder his parents. Moreover, this demonstrates that he wants to continue looking forward in his life instead of waiting for his time to end. Since Greg Ousley gave a great deal of effort in order to demonstrate that he has changed, his reward could include eligibility for parole.
According to Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren in Art History some artists of the Hellenistic period portrayed the world as they saw it, by representing people from every level of society. (Stokstad and Cothren, 2014). An example is a sculpture which is referred to as “the old woman”, produced by an unknown artist. This sculpture is not from Greek myth but instead is a portrayal of an elderly woman of the era. The marble statue of an old woman was originated in the late second century BC and is a perfect depiction of daily life in ancient Greece due to the beauty of its intricate detail and the artists portrayal of a member of society.
I just wanted to thank you for all that you have done for me. I don't think you realize how much you inspire me and I am so proud of the person you've become and are still becoming. I understand you've been through a lot and you haven't made the best choices, but I can see that you have grown. Truthfully, I've known from the first time I met you to now, that you were a strong person.
