No greater obligation is placed on school officials than to protect the children in their charge from foreseeable dangers, whether those dangers arise from the careless acts or intentional transgressions of others. Although the overarching mission of a board of education is to educate, its first imperative must be to do no harm to the children in its care. A board of education must take reasonable measures to assure that the teachers and administrators who stand as surrogate parents during the day are educating, not endangering, and protecting, not exploiting, vulnerable children (Frugis v. Bracigliano, 2003).
The minority countered this argument when the school board said, “it is our duty, our moral obligation, to protect the children in our school from this moral danger as surely as from physical and medical dangers” (qtd. in Board of
The Frontline video of “The Stick Up Kid,” is a good example of the effects that can occur in terms of both manifest and latent functions. The video is about the story of Alonza Thomas Jr, who was one of the first people in California to be tried as an adult for his crimes, despite him being a minor. Proposition 21, which made it easier to charge minors as adults for specific violent crimes, had been passed in California months before Alonza committed his crime. Alonza attempted to rob a convenience mart when he was only 15 years of age, and even though his attempt was foiled by the shop owner, who kept him at the store at gunpoint until the police arrived to the scene. After his trial, Alonza was sentenced to 13 years in state prison, an

Under the health and safety act everyone should be thinking about how to keep themselves, others and the environment they work in safe. Adults have a duty of care and should encourage the children to also do this, this will help increase their own awareness of what they are doing and where.
...acility. This solution provided safety for the resident by placing her in a higher monitored region of the facility. Her son would have to check in before visiting, allowing staff to keep an eye on him in a designated meeting area. Even though the solution seemed fitting, the resident did not wish to be moved. The facility could not violate her decision to stay, but we also could not allow her son to continue to pose a threat. After two days of working with the resident and discussing options, she hesitantly agreed to move to another room. This benefited her in many ways, because it allowed her to stay in contact with her son while retaining a safe environment. Through this situation I learned that the human will can defy rationality, but as a Social Worker I must still strive to safely and efficiently handle these situations in a way that accommodates their rights.
The observation took place indoor at my relative 's house. I went to observe the child on Tuesday at 12:00 in the morning. When you first enter the house and walk through the hallway, you will see that the kitchen is on the right side and the dining table on the left. After passing the kitchen and dining table, you will see that the living room connects to the back-yard. The living room 's walls had multiple picture frames and decoration pieces hanging along with a brown color clock. Moreover, the living room had dark green sofa 's, television, a coffee table and variety of toys that include a white writing board, a box of legos, soft toys, barbie dolls, kitchen sets, play house, books, ball, building blocks and a blue color table along with
Family: Benny is an 8 year old male who continues to reside in South Amboy with the Rodriguez family. On 9/12/ 17 DCP&P requested for the court to award Kinship Legal Guardianship to Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez. DCP&P Judge approved plan for KLG with the Rodriguez family. Benny and his sister were excited to hear that they will continue to reside with the Rodriguez family. Benny behavior in the home continues to improve. It appears that he has a stable relationship with Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez. He does not display the behaviors he displayed when he first was placed in the Rodriguez home. He no longer isolates his self, cries or has difficulty forming attachments or bonds with the family. CM observes Benny interaction with his foster siblings and

Although the rights of the child is evident in many procedures, after reading in extensive detail about the UNCRC and reflecting on our centres policies and procedures I have come to the conclusion that we need to add Article 31 of the UNCRC. (UNCRC, 1989, Article 31). In doing so it will ensure all educators are fully aware of the rights of the child, the right of play and the importance of it. It also ensure that at all times children’s rights are being understood, respected and adhered to by all educators that enter our service. Families can also be reassured that all educators are fully aware of the UNCRC rights of the child as well as that their child’s rights are at the forefront of all educators practices consistently as it is a policy that all educators are familiar with and have to follow. Having it as a policy ensure all children have a voice and it is being listened to and responded on appropriately allowing their choices to be respected by all educators. Not only adding a policy that is formed from the children’s right to play will benefit the children but also reviewing the wording of our current policies to ensure that the children right to play is at the forefront of our early childhood education and care program. Reflecting on our policies and procedures I strongly believe we have the foundations to ensure best practice of the children’s rights is being adhered too but we need to review and reflect on these practices to ensure that the language being used in the policy and procedure manual is clearly evident to support the children’s right of
Many students these days ride buses to transport them to and from school. Elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools have taking the bus as an option to get to school. There are also buses for transportation of children and teenagers with disabilities. The buses for disabled children need to stay an option for transportation.

...er transfers, which your pass is still valid for an additional bus ride. If you buy a bus pass, you may be eligible for discount fares, typically seniors, disabled individuals and students receive discounted bus pass fares. Also all sales are final and if your pass expires you can’t take or ride the bus. Children less than 36” tall ride the bus for free with a paying adult, but children 36” to taller must pay the full fare. Once you get on the bus insert your pass or cash into the fare box which is typically located next to the driver, your money is not refundable. Generally, bus operators don't give change, so one must be sure to have the exact amount required to pay for the fare. Then find you a seat once you are on the bus or if you have to stand, adopt a wide stance and it is important to maintain your balance because the bus can slow down or speed up abruptly.
The social effects of the laws regarding the liability of teachers is an important thing to consider as laws are instigated to protect people and so if they are not being as beneficial as possible to all those involved as well as the surrounding community, then they need to be reviewed. Liability claims against teachers more often than not result in avoidable court costs and the judge deeming the teacher not liable for the injury of the child. This is why it is not particularly advantageous for the family of an injured student to follow up the claim in court.
