Jarrod will work with a peer who is reading at 650L or higher on a text that is Jarrod’s frustration level. Jarrod and his partner will begin work on lesson 1 on the red LLI kit. The red LLI kit is designed for students reading in between 300L and 600L. Jarrod Jarrod will read the first 100 words on the passage by himself and running record will be completed to assess his correct words per minute. Then, Jarrod will begin working with the peer using choral reading or echo reading. Jarrod and his partner will read the text aloud at the same time, for at least two readings. On the second day Jarrod will read one time with partner using choral reading, then Jarrod and his partner will take turns reading a page to each other. Jarrod will continue this pattern for two days, then Jarrod will be assessed using a running record and 5 basic comprehension questions, with the target score of 80 percent

Students that are able to read with no guidance also may have difficulty with repeating, like the student I assessed. Assessment may be difficult for some students, when they have to sit one on one with an adult, which may cause more error. Teachers should develop a comfort level with their student while the instruction is given to make sure they are able to assess the student one on one with little hesitation from the student.
Some students simply do not test well, others try their hardest and still cannot reach the impracticable standards set for them. The individuals who create these tests do not understand the pressures of being a student, or the struggle to answer thirty-five questions in a compressed time period. One test cannot accurately measure the intelligence of a student.

Teachers, who are able to apply each of these pillars to everyday learning in the classroom, reach their students and provide instruction in meaningful and approachable ways. Each of these pillars provides important ideas and information that work together to create an effective learning environment in the literacy classroom. By accessing and including each of these pillars in my classroom environment, curriculum and instructions, students benefit from the more effective reading instruction possible.
There are many factors to consider as to why a student may have failed or had to retake a class, but we believe there is one major factor that most people neglect to think about. Students are unable to understand the material due to the style professors use to teach. When students are unable to understand the material, they begin to get frustrated. Some eventually begin to give up because they think they will never be able to learn the material. So, why is it that some students can pass a class while others do not? We think that each student has their own unique learning style while each professor has their own way of teaching. Some professors teach by lectures, some use visuals, some use hands-on activities, and some use a variety of these methods. When taking these simple factors into consideration, it is easy to see why a student that learns best by viewing pictures or diagrams may struggle or become distracted easily during a lecture-based course ("Types of Learning Styles.")
