Heading: Experience O’Byrne’s Irish Pub!
Sub-heading: An outstanding blend of New World innovation and Old World charm.
O’Byrne’s Irish Pub is considered by many to be an unofficial piece of Ireland right here in Edmonton—and for good reason. O’Byrne’s is the city’s oldest Irish pub, and is styled after traditional watering holes in the city of Dublin.
In fact, the fittings and fixtures were all brought over from the old country when General Manager Cathal O’Byrne’s family immigrated to Alberta, and opened the pub in 1998. Cathal’s father, Denis, and mother, Mary, also brought Irish history and traditions, and their business sense, to Whyte Avenue, creating a successful livelihood for their family, and a favourite establishment in Edmonton’s food and beverage scene.

Meals are made in-house. For example, the tasty chips (i.e., French fries) are fresh-cut each day. Scrumptious salad dressings are made from scratch. Beef patties are fashioned daily from lean Canadian Angus Beef, and so on. The menu highlights vegetarian-friendly, Celiac-friendly, and Traditional Irish dishes.
In addition to O’Byrne’s classic pub fare, Red Seal Executive Chef Jenn Elder has introduced summer and fall feature menus, with fabulous items that sometimes make it onto the regular menu. The mouth-watering Drunken Chicken Sandwich falls into this category. When it appeared on the summer bill of fare, it outsold the perennial favourite O’Byrne’s Burger, and was made a mainstay. Chef Elder also includes special recipes from Granny O’Byrne, such as Rhubarb Fool and yummy Banoffee

Sadly, their warped views and precarious judgments often lead them to trouble, creating an endless amount of uncomfortable situations that usually only get worse before they get better.
There are specials offered at every meal depending on the season and the catch of the day. Chef Vanzile says that he plans the menu around what fresh fish and produce look the best rather than what is trendy. However, there is still a great deal of ambition evidenced in the menu. Some recent specials included Mahi chowder and blackened salmon with Romesco cream as well as more expected fare such as sautéed crab cakes and a shrimp omelet. Fish and chips were the special on St. Patrick’s Day, an Irish themed-meal for diners to enjoy.

Many of the customers are regulars who have been coming to the restaurant ever since it first opened, which is why the owners make it a priority to provide a consistent menu with the customer’s favorite entrees. The restaurant strictly serves dinner options, as it opens its doors at 4pm. The menu consists of seafood, pasta, steak, and sandwiches, as well as a daily entrée and soup specials, allowing every customer to find something that appeals to them on the menu. Although the menu features a wide variety of food, many of the options, especially the seafood, can be quite pricey for many customers. This results in many customers only being able to come in for special occasions, as the food is too expensive to pay for on a regular basis. Some of the restaurants most popular items, such as the prime rib, are only available on the weekend, resulting in customers who come into the restaurant specifically for thos...
