In 2003, Nutrition Facts and nutrition information became mandatory in Canada. This action has helped and benefited millions of Canadians. This helped Canadians become aware of what they were eating, and resulted in positive change. Nutrition information should become more prominent in restaurants and fast food places because it decreases Type 2 diabetes, obesity and allergies. Nutrition information should also be more prominent because it encourages families to make the healthier choice. lastly, Nutrition facts must be available because we deserve to know, what is in our food.

There is no doubt in the fact that the nutrition table helped decrease obesity rates. Progressing to a more prominent nutrition table will help continue decreasing obesity, resulting in healthier lives. The nutrition table also helps diabetics with their diet, it allows them to know how much of a product they should and should not eat. According to largest diabetes research centre Joslin.org, “people with diabetes should avoid foods that contain so-called "simple" sugars and replace them with "complex" carbohydrates, such as those found in potatoes and cereals.” People with diabetes know they are not supposed to eat many sugars, and will then know how much of a product they may eat. expanding the nutrition table will help diabetics because they will be able to lead stronger and healthier lifestyles. Nutrition written on the side label includes serving size, number of servings in the package, calories per serving and the amount of various nutrients contained in the product. “In a study published in the "Journal of the American Dietetic Association" in April 2000, people told by their doctors to lose weight for health reasons who used nutrition labels consumed fewer calories, more fiber and less saturated fat, sugar and carbohydrates than the people who didn't use nutrition labels.” The American Dietetic Association claims that people used the Nutrition Table to lose weight to follow the amount of nutrient needed in order to be healthy. As a result, Nutrition should be fully available in all restaurants so that all people can have a healthy life.

Nutrition facts and nutrition information should be available in restaurants for people because they have the right to know. Foods in many restaurants may have traces of (GMO)Genetically modified Organism foods, that are considered undesirable.
