When looking at the activity of understanding the levels it is important to understand all federal laws, state laws, organization laws, and Medicaid and Medicare laws because everything must be done correctly and all laws must be followed and documentation must be correct.
Analysis of activity (why it happened). When analyzing the activity of getting the level two book in order I asked many questions so I understood what the requirements are, however, because I have spent less time in Social Services compared to the activities department there is still much to learn and I feel that I will continue this process once I am finished so I am aware of all the laws and so forth. Of course, I feel that the internship has been a benefit because of

In addition, my eyes have been opened widely to things that were never noticed before and now I am well educated and informed about how a nursing home runs, how things are done, and the expectations, roles, and duties, and responsibilities that are involved working as a social worker in a nursing home facility and I feel that the field experience and internship opportunity has been a blessing in that I am ready for the future and ready to take on a job in this …show more content…
In that regard, a social worker would always be learning in this role because there is something new to learn such as policies, new laws, and changing rules and regulations which require ongoing learning at all levels. In addition, a social worker needs to have vast knowledge of medical terminology, mental health, and medical conditions to just name a few examples and a nursing home facility needs to hire only people qualified with the appropriate skills. Of course, that has not always been my experience when looking at getting an internship position in a nursing home because there are not qualified people in some of these positions at other organizations. Furthermore, that is changing because the laws and practice in hiring standards is being addressed so that only qualified people can be hired which needs to be the case across the board. To me there is serious issues and concerns about that because if you have unqualified employees working in these types of facilities it results in subpar standards of care and that should never be tolerated and is against the law and as a social worker working in this type of setting I think that is something that most social workers would agree with and would fight to
Women of the middle ages ran the households. Women of higher class held more responsibilities and therefore often left the duties of their children to a nurse. The responsibilities that came with running a household made some mothers to be distant from their children.(www.thefinertimes.com) Lady capulet in the play Romeo and Juliet demonstrates this quote to apply to the way she mothered her child. Throughout the play, Lady Capulet exhibits to be distant, demanding, yet caring of her family despise her poised attitude. A theme that Shakespeare perhaps was trying to get across was “ No matter how much is cared about a person; If not there for that person and ask them to do exactly what is wished, then there is no guarantee that that person will

The social safety net has grown to include and protect a diverse group of people of all ages. Social workers have become vital to older persons who need long term care, persons struggling with addictions, and communities that are devastated by natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and violent tragedies
...ecause it gave me an opportunity to hear the perspective of other health care professionals that are not in the same field as me. I also got to learn what role each health care professional could contribute to the Triple Aim goal. Also, this experience would make it easier for me to work with other professionals during my course of study and after I graduate because I have been a little exposure to what it is going to be like discussing and trying to figure out ways we can contribute to the Triple Aim goal together as a team.
Aging is inevitable. People go through life meeting milestones such as going to college, getting married, having children, and then growing old. Getting older is not only hard on the individual but, also the family. It is difficult for a person who has taken care of themselves all their life to wake up one day and realize they can no longer do things on their own. That is why their are nursing homes. There are many speculations about whether or not it is okay to place a family member in a nursing home however, there are many benefits to nursing homes. The adult children of the elderly should opt for professional care for their aged parents rather than allowing them to live on their own because, nursing homes have constant help, daily activities, and people who can give family members continous support.
Nursing homes are for people who do not have the ability to take care of themselves in their own home. They are similar to hospitals, they provide medical care, physical care, and speech and occupational therapy. For this assignment I was asked to go to a nursing home and ask the facility questions and make my own observations. I was able to choose a facility easily due to the day my mom has been a CNA at the Gorham house for about two years. She works in the unit where people are mostly in the last stages of their lives, so they require a lot of assistance. After being able to make my quick visit, I was able to ask many questions and made observations on what it is like to work and to live in these facilities.
With the aging population growing faster every year many families must make a difficult decision whether their loved ones should live in assisted living or nursing home facilities. I can relate because I made the decision to care for my mother at my home. Some people do not have the money or resources to care for their parent so they must live in a facility for health and safety reasons.
I started working as a Social Work Assistant in a Welsh child protection team in August 2014 until I gained my social work qualification in October 2014 and started practicing as a Social Worker. The team that I work in gains a lot of its staff intake from newly qualified Social Workers and it appears to be well geared to developing and supporting people who may be unexperienced in social work, but have a wide and varied set of skills from other arenas.
Nursing home is a place offers residential care for people who need continual nursing care [1]. In recent years, the number of older Americans over age 65 live in nursing faculties is more than 1.4 million, and it is expected to increase because of the aging of baby boom generation and population ageing. 6% of nation’s healthcare expenditures are spent on 15,500 nursing homes in U.S. The increasing population requiring nursing home and increasing expenditures suggest a pressing need for quality measure in nursing homes.
While volunteering there, I was placed in a local long-term care home for the elderly. This experience was highly beneficial. Working along side, nurses, care aids and other health care professionals was my first view inside the “system”. Volunteering at the Care Home, did not necessarily make up my mind on the field of social work but solidified my desire to work in the field of human services. I learnt from this experience at the hospital how profound my compassion for others truly was. It was not until my first year of college, that I started to volunteer with an organization that I am still with today and absolutely adore volunteering with. That organization is the Vernon Women’s Transition House in Vernon BC. I started off by filling in for employees who met in weekly meetings. While on the floor, I met many women who were in a place of ‘in-between’ and safety. This experience was eye opening. After a brief stay out-of-town, I returned to Vernon and again volunteered with the transition house – this time in another program: Support to Young Parents. This is an incredible housing program where young mothers who have fled abuse (potentially without the resources or parenting skills they truly need) can live long term. This apartment consists of 6 units, with the 7th unit converted into a resource and common space. The program
I feel that I am now growing in knowledge, experience and confidence, and that I am becoming more aware of my own beliefs and values, and also how they affect my nursing experience, and those of others. Finally, with regards to this placement, I must mention my most satisfying experience of my nursing career so
As the police adapt to the social climate, teachers try new learning methods and those in the medical profession use new medicines, social workers must too adapt and develop with the times. Everything was once an experiment, and there cannot be progression if Social Workers are not prepared to alter their mind-sets and practice according to new evidence and research. Being research minded, and able to question yourself and the things you are taught is integral to being a good social worker, and one who will be able to enable and protect the service users they work for through an ever changing, developing society.
First, I would like to start by stating that my expectation of a nurse is that he or she must be a good communicator, emotionally strong, empathetic, patient and calm, pay attention to detail and have good physical endurance. I feel that I possess these qualities which would make me very successful as nurse in the future. I have dream about being a nurse since I was a little girl and as a young adult, I still have the desire to be a nurse so I can help others. My desire to become a nurse evolves from past experiences that have taken place in my life; for example, my father’s death, my illness, personal experience and interaction with the hospital staff, specifically, the nurses.
My work experience includes working for a small, privately run, family type home for senior adults who have Alzheimer's or dementia. Over the years, I have learned to easily develop rapport with patients and families, capable of maintaining a positive attitude, and remaining calm and professional at all times. I have also learned to become more flexible, adapting easily to changes in environment and work schedules. Lastly, I learned to always continue educating myself, as well as be more openminded to the beliefs and cultural practices of others, in order to be the best nurse I can possibly be. If I am fortunate enough to participate in the nurse residency program, I strongly believe that my skills and dedication to the health care profession will prove to be a great asset to UNC Health Care.
and what I want to become by being in the social work program. I found a sense of belonging in
