The position of a correctional case manager requires integrity, good morals, professionalism, professional writing skills, proficient computer skills, familiarity with the laws and policies relevant to corrections, and etc. In order to be a successful and effective correctional case manager at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the case manager must know the policies of the institution, be organize, use time management skills, be sociable with co-workers, adapt to the advancement of technology, and communicate well with inmates and staff at the institution (Giddings, 2015).

Acts of malfeasance are shameless acts of unethical behavior such as bringing in contraband, stealing from the institution, cruelty to inmates, and etc. (Kremling et al., 2014). Acts of misfeasance are acts of misconduct which violate the rights of others by doing something lawful, but in an illegal way for example contracting with an incompetent company for cheap medical services for inmates (Kremling et al., 2014). Acts of nonfeasance are failing to perform the functions of a job as a result others are harmed such as failing to protect an inmate from physical harm (Kremling et al., 2014). Although acts of nonfeasance occur in prisons more than any other form of corruption; unfortunately, it is the most challenging to prove. Corruption often begins with doing small favors for inmates, which elevates into more serious violations being committed. More than fifty civilians, inmates, and prison staff collaborated to commit acts of corruption inside several prisons throughout Georgia, as a result, the federal grand jury returned fifty indictments in connection with wire fraud, money laundering, smuggling contraband, and etc. (United States Department of Justice, 2016). When staff willingly get involved in unethical acts such as the example above, the entire system and its operations are scrutinized. The professional position of a correctional case manager comes with a lot of demand and responsibility, but there is also a lot of unethical temptation and potential for dangerous events that surrounds the work environment. Contrary to popular belief, the job duties of a correctional case manager consist of more than sitting in an office in front of a computer. In graduate school the course work is geared towards a specific area of study and it provides the student to gain knowledge that will be beneficial
