Nils Bohlin, inventor of the three-point safety belt for cars, which is credited with saving countless lives since it was brought up.He died when he was 82 years old he died of heart failure. The cause was complications of a heart attack he suffered earlier that week and a stroke.Mr Bohlin always wanted to be an engineer.At that time, safety belts in cars were strapped across the body which was not that safe back then.The position of the buckle often caused severe internal injuries in high-speed crashes.In 1958, came out with his first design using his knowledge of seats in just under a year he designed a device that would restrain the human body as safety as possible under extreme conditions.He saved a millions of lives during his long-time …show more content…

Mr.Bohlin retired in 1985.The three-point shoulder/lap safety belt has changed very little in its overall design. Improvements to the design include the additions was to control the force needed to restrain the user and the better buckles.Safety Administration estimates the the belt reduce the risk of deaths in car crashes by the least 45 percent.At one point of time he was rewarded with the Automotive Engineering Award.This report helped inspire the United States to implement a law require automakers to equip the front seats in passenger cars with three-point belts.It persuaded a number of other national governments to do the same.Today if kids and more adults know the history of seat belts that would lower the risks of deaths.If kids know how seat belts saves lives they would want to wear seat belts more often then just jumping in the car.So make sure everyone has a seat-belt on at all times of the day and
