When pressured to increase their profit margins, many companies look to child labor. Some companies and organizations work to stop such actions; however millions of children are still hired, says Mr. Dogar of the IMAC. Sadly, many of the children rely on their pay for their survival as well as their families. One might ask how long will and/or should this continue?
One of the many American based businesses that has, until recently, allowed child labor to ensue, is Nike. Nike recently dissolved its connection with Saga Sports causing many to come out and say that it's "the last thing a Pakistan struggling with militant Islam and poverty needs." I believe that the corporations should have an obligation to fix such problems. Mrs. Benjamin said, "a sweatshop is a sweatshop unless you start paying a living wage [of $3 a day]." This is an attempt to reassure consumers that their products are made under good conditions.
