New hire orientation is a training program provided to all new employees to an organization or new department within an organization. The New hire orientation is the process of providing the employees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviors to effectively transition into their role within the organization. It is important for organizations to provide new hire orientation as it is the foundation for the new employee’s career with in the organization and department. Not providing a new hire orientation can make a new employee feel uncomfortable in the new position and it can make the employee take longer to reach his or her’s full potential.

It is the visual aid for the trainer. The trainer’s manual that was created for the new hire orientation first provides the trainer with the tasks that needs to be completed prior to the beginning of the training class. This allows trainer to be ready to start the training class. Next the trainer’s manual provides an outline of the class. It instructs the trainer when to do what task and how long it should take to complete. This allows the trainer to stay on track. The trainer’s manual also has the module information like the trainee’s manual. It also describes how to complete each module. At the end of the class the trainer’s manual instructs the trainer to handout an assessment to the trainees to complete. This helps determine if the trainees understood and gained the knowledge taught in the class. Finally, the trainer’s manual instructs the trainer to have the trainees complete a course evaluation. The training assessment and the course evaluation will help ensure that the training is adding value and that the trainees are understanding the training. The evaluation also helps improve the future new hire orientation classes. The final step for the trainer is to talk to the class about the buddy program. The buddy program connects the employee with a “buddy”. The buddy is their first friend at the organization. The buddy will help by answering questions, addressing concerns, taking them to the security desk to obtain their badge picture, introducing them to their team and introducing them to their one-the-job
