1. What environmental issues does the New Belgium Brewing Company work to Address? How has NBB taken a strategic approach to addressing these issues? Why do you think the company has chosen to focus on environmental issues?
New Belgium Brewing attempts to reduce its impact on the environment while producing world-class beers. They go through strategic efforts to furnish superior products while imposing minimal damage to the environment on account of their founders’ interest in sustainability and being environmentally responsible. Their founders are highly concerned with recycling, reducing energy output, and lowering emissions through biking rather than driving. Starbucks vs Dutch Bros. Every coffee addict knows, the day just does not begin until one’s mouth has had a taste of that glorious, roasted brew. Now, whether one likes a venti iced skinny hazelnut macchiato, sugar-free syrup, extra ice, no whip, the father, the son, and the holy spirit, or simply a cup of Americano, dark; the general consensus is that the combinations are virtually unlimited and the cafes are plenty. However, coffee lovers beware of the hype: Starbucks may seem the prominent choice for a morning cup of joe, but when it comes down to it, Dutch Bros. is the only way to go. As previously mentioned, the combinations are virtually unlimited, something that Starbucks seems to take to heart when comprising their menu options.

It adapted a triple bottom line to measure success through profits, people and the planet. Through New Belgium Brewing's mission statement, they dedicate it to quality, the environment, its employees, and to its customers. p.358) Such as kindling social, environmental, and cultural change as a business role model. Another example is environmental stewardship: minimizing resource consumption, maximizing energy efficiency and recycling.
Relationships with interest groups and the public policy makers has been one of the many things that the Boston Beer Company has strived to maintain and expand. The company realizes that these relationships are critical for the future success of the company. Being in the brewing industry the policies and publics opinion can influence the changes in future policies and procedures that would affect the industry. Developing and maintaining the relationships with the interest groups as well as the policy makers could prove to be very beneficial to not only the company but the brewing industry as a whole.
The marketing mix, which is basic to any organization, can be considered the ‘controllable’ variables that every business encounters. These controllable variables can be modified based on the uncontrollable variables (external factors found in Environmental Scan) that directly affect business operations. A company focuses on four elements in the marketing mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion, which are managed and coordinated through marketing programs in efforts to appeal to their target market. Marketers strive to understand what motivates consumers to purchase certain products. The marketing mix helps to break down some of these questions: What will consumers buy? How much will they spend? Where will they buy? And will they buy again?
Business growth general is assumed to be good; bigger is assumed to be better (Hess, 2011), but if the proper planning is not in place it can lead to a business failure. Beginning a business based on something she loved, and needed in her life Susan Feller made the brave decision to build a successful business by baking and selling gluten-free cakes and desserts. After her retirement she focused on her dream and solving her own issue, finding food safe and healthy to eat for those, like herself, with Celiac disease and gluten allergies, but they also had to be delicious. Feller had some tough decisions to make as a small business owner, would she be able to keep up with the demand, how can she grow her business and what if she decided she had had enough and wanted to close the business? These are all decisions any business owner have to face at one point or another.

Breckenridge Brewery has a strong business in brewing beer. Due to the lack of professional management expertise and venturing into the wrong business, the company has not been able to turn in a profit. It is important that the company try to resolve these problems as soon as possible. Only then, will the company get out of the red and hopefully, move on to a higher level.
I will briefly summarize and examine issues facing Starbucks. Starting from there I will pick the most important issue and study it from different positions. In the end of my I will try to suggest what steps should be made to keep the company in continuing its quest to become one of the most recognized and respected brands in the world.

However, recently this company is continuously facing a lot of problems in terms of its staff, easy-copied business model and product range, resulting this company lost its leading position to the number three.
