Networking
For my independent study, I have created a network in my house. A network by definition are more than one computer that are linked together electronically via a protocol (common language) so the computers can communicate and share resources. This network improves the day-to-day life by adding value and usefulness to the computers. The processes and ideas that I have learned thru this experience can be applied directly into today’s rich electronic business environment.
Identifying the needs of the user is the first step for building a well-designed Network. A professional installation was needed to maintain the aesthetics of the rental house. Most of the wires are run in the attic and then down plastic conduit attached to the wall. The conduit is run all the way to the wall boxes where the Ethernet ports are located. Every wire is clearly labeled and included in an easy to read schematic of the house. This way future tenants will have the ability to utilize the network. Next, every room needed to have access to the network. In order to minimize the overall use of wires, hubs were placed in strategic locations. An 8-port 10/100-megabit auto-sensing hub is located in the computer room and a 5 port 10-megabit in the sound room. There, needed to be docking stations, so laptop users or visiting computers could easily plug into the network and utilize the pre-existing monitor, keyboard, and mouse. These are the basic needs that have been put into the design of the network.
Each computer setup is unique with certain strengths and weaknesses. The network takes advantage of the strengths of each individual computer and makes them available to all users. A network essentially expands the capabilities of each computer by increasing functionality thru resource sharing. In the house, there are a total of four computers and two laptops. Processing speed and an abundance of ram is not essential for a server with such low traffic. Thus the most antiquated computer was elected for this function. Between all the computers, we have several extra pieces of hardware such as a zip drive, CDRW, DVD ROM, scanner, and multiple printers. Each piece of hardware is dispersed between the computers.
There were several immediate efficiencies that occurred when the network went operational. The zip drive is located on the server while the CDRW is located on one of the individual workstations.
Hamlet, a play written by the prominent writer, Shakespeare, is about a Danish prince whose father was murdered by his uncle who then married his mother. The story follows Hamlet for a time period of a few months while he decides how to deal with the situation of his uncle and mother. An important rising conflict is Hamlet?s soliloquy during act III scene I, where he finally realizes the significance of his actions towards his uncle, Claudius. Fortinbras? prompt rebuttal against Denmark for his father?s murder intrigued Hamlet and made him examine the emphasis needed to be placed on the death of his own father. Throughout the soliloquy, Hamlet mentions many thoughts surrounding this dilemma and shows a deeper, more will-powered side of himself.
Enabling the business network effect which entails leveraging solutions designed for the networked economy to ensure interaction between all stakeholders.
Euripides , a great tradegian once said, “Death is a debt we must all pay” which is relevant to not only Hamlet but life in general. Hamlet, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is a play about a series of horrific events occuring in Denmark. Problems arise and blood is lost. Hamlet, the son of the late King Hamlet faces life and death situations for himself and also for those around him. Death is contemplated, but for some death is succsessful. Hamlet reacts to the deaths of each character very differently. The deaths of King Hamlet, Polonius, Ophelia, Claudius, and even his own have very different effects on the outcome of the play.
At Wildcat Hospital, I performed my first newborn assessment on a baby. I walked into the postpartum room and greeted the mother and family and asked if I could (along with another student) perform and assessment on the baby for the second time. This assessment was different from the initial assessment I performed four hours previously, because the second time around I had more control of the assessment. I listened to the heart, lungs, and stomach. I assessed the newborn’s respirations, reflexes and temperature. After our assessment was over, I was able to swaddle the baby back up and hand the infant back into the arms of an excited new mother.
The protagonist, Hamlet, does not feel emotional aspects in certain situations, such as his father’s death. His constant mourning over his father’s death is an intellectualization of this sorrowful moment. He rationalizes the unpleasant feelings in his mind and analyzes the causes of his pain:
Screening is the first step in addressing any concerns in a child’s development. Healthcare providers and parents should continue surveillance and screening through childhood; screening tools should be used whenever concerns arises about a child’s developmental (Lee, Lu, Allan, Yeh, & Chang, 2015). American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has suggested evidence-based screening tools improve early detection, causing the use of screening tools to increase (Sheldrick et al., 2016). According to a survey by AAP, there have not been improvements in developmental screening in primary care setting; pediatricians are not using effective screening methods for their patients (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2006). Thomas, Spragins, Mazloum, Cronkhite, & Maru (2016) conducted a study that suggested that health care professionals (1) override evidence-based screening results with their informal judgment; and/or (2) assistance is needed with making referrals and understanding tests. Based on literature, screening policies need to be mandated and standard for each child, for the
Mortality is the state of being subject to death. This is subject often touched upon in William Shakespeare’s work, as he often tries to paint a portrait of the human experience in his plays. In Hamlet, the subjects of suicide, murder, and death circle around the protagonist’s brain. Shakespeare fills his character’s interior dialogue with anger, betrayal, and self-loathing, sparking his turmoil regarding life and death. Hamlet’s inner battle in his three soliloquies exposes the evolution of his experiences with and thoughts on morality, ultimately ending in bittersweet satisfaction and understanding.
Hamlet's view of death morphs through the course of the play as he is faced with various problems and troubles that force him to deal with life differently. This holds particular significance for a modern audience who, unlike the predominately Christian audiences of Shakespeare's time, contains an assortment of perspectives on the subject. For the majority of the play, Hamlet yearns for death, but there are different tones to his yearning as he confronts death in different circumstances; from his encounter with his father's ghost to the discovery of his beloved Ophelia dead in the ground, Hamlet feels an irrepressible urge to end his life. There are obstacles that get in his way, both internal and external, and Shakespeare's play is an account of Hamlet's struggle with them.
The soliloquies spoken by Hamlet were directed to the audience, rather than seeming like conversations with himself. In the first soliloquy, Hamlet talks about how aggravated at life he is and that if it weren’t for God’s laws he would commit suicide. He is not really morning his fathers death in this soliloquy but more his disgust for his mother for marring his uncle especially a few months after his father’s death. He then goes on to explain he must remain silent. He is explaining to the audience that nothing can undo the situation to make it any better. But that isn’t good enough for Hamlet. Something has to be done. This soliloquy sparks an interest in the reader and provides a glimpse into Hamlet’s thoughts while informing the audience of the history of his family’s tribulations.
Communication within our network has much improved with Windows NT. We are now capable of sharing files and data between all offices. Our Fast Ethernet Intranet provides speedy and stable communication transport.
When designing the layout of a LAN, the party can choose from a selection of different technologies on which to base the main part of their LAN. The technology choices that the party adopts will be a critical part in the way their LAN performs. Two important LAN setups are a network based on Ethernet or Token Ring technology. Besides operating in a small space, LANs have some other distinctive features. LANs are typically owned, controlled, and managed by a single person or organization.
Hamlet now seems to make a decision. He makes the profound judgment that ‘conscience does make cowards of us all,’ This sentence is probably the most important one in the soliloquy. There is a religious dimension to it as it is a sin to take one’s life. So with that added dimension the fear of the unknown after death is intensified.
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is centered around the dynamic protagonist, whom shares the name of the play, and his emotional struggle which is shown throughout his seven soliloquies. Hamlet is a young man whose life is interrupted by his father’s death which in turn, leads him to questions that cannot be answered with certainty. The play stems from Hamlet’s obsession with proving his uncle’s guilt of murdering his father, and his inability to execute revenge. Hamlet’s life falls to ruin due to his tragic flaw of indecisiveness.
