Babysitters who are violent against children are affecting children in a bad way in terms of their physical and psychological development. In the following paragraphs, the consequences of being affected by a violent babysitter will be examined.
First of all, there are physical problems caused by these babysitters. According to Finkelhor & Ormrod (2001), babysitters are responsible for some physical and sexual abuse in a higher rate for the children under the age of 6 in comparison to juveniles. The examples for these abuses can be aggravated assault and forcible rape but these are just two of them. In addition, it is important to consider that being unexperienced and young can increase the possibility of being violent because young babysitters can be unreliable in childcare compared to adults. There were some examples to this on the news. The title of the entry was “Babysitters kill girl, 7, with Mortal Kombat video game moves” (Mail Online, n.d.). The reason is there are only a few children who do not like video games. Therefore, they may not realize the difference between real world and gaming world. They could think that they were playing a game since they tried to ‘revive’ the child named Zoe by splashing water and ‘giving the kiss of life’ to her (Mail Online, n.d.). According to the same source, one of the children was drunk at that time. Although there is not a rule for the age of babysitters, young babysitters can beat abuse your children and even cause to the death of your children as it was in case of Zoe. People who hire babysitters are usually working and want their children to be secure. However, if a child is not responsible, it may cause some problems. In my opinion, a babysitter should work as an assistance of the ...

...social behavior” that children who sustain physical abuse grow up with criminal and antisocial behaviors. Just like the brother children who are abused have a high chance of becoming a violent parent themselves. Not only the child abuse destroys the future for one generation but many more to come because the cycle of violence stays with the parents that were abused.

Today, our society likes to take time off to relax and watch a movie. Do you think it’s relaxing to watch people die and constantly be injured? Well most of the movies out today are violent. Even thought here are strict rating rules put on these movies, children are still seeing them. For example, The Power Rangers Movie. In this movie, five teenagers take on the roles of fighters. When kids view this PG rated movie they see how cool it is to kill other creatures and human beings. About three weeks after this movie was released in Chicago, two kids were playing power rangers; they decided to take the game a step further by involving pencils used as swords. This game ended with one of the two kids with serious incisions from the pencil. This situation could have easily been avoided if some of these movies were not so violently oriented.
This paper will explore those effects and how it affects children. Exposure to violence in the first years of life brings about helplessness and terror, which can be attributed to the lack of protection received by the parent. The child can no longer trust their parent as a protector (Lieberman 2007). This lack of trust early in life can bring about serious problems later in life, as there is no resolution to the first psychosocial crisis, trust vs. mistrust. For these children exposed to domestic violence, the imaginary monsters that children perceive are not only symbolic representations or a dream.
Children today are likely to experience or witness violence at home. Researchers are concerned about the effect domestic violence has on children, and has prompted researchers to conduct an increasing number of investigations into this issue. Social learning theory and Erikson's theory of basic trust are two tools used to predict aggressive behavior in children.
“According to Time magazine, September 27, 1993, violence in video games is on the rise especially with the release of Mortal Kombat. Over 50 million children all over the United States brought this violence into their homes. The parents and other adults of these children finally decided that the video games in the U.S. had gone too far.” Mortal Kombat was the first game that brought blood and gore into the video game world. Mortal Kombat started in the arcades it was such a hit, they made it into a game you could buy for personal use. Critics raved over it when it was first introduced, saying it was too violent for kids and it needed to be taken off the shelves. This game appealed to many people because of its real-life graphics, blood and gore. The game was also responsible for the video game rating system used today. The game was an instant hit, they made an endless amount of Mortal Kombat games, for every gaming system imaginable, there was even a movie made based on the game. This essay will illustrate how Mortal Kombat is violent, and take a critical point of view of this popular game.

Violence within families often reflects behaviours learned by children from their parents. A theory is that violent behaviour is passed down from generation to generation through families (Cole & Flanagin, Pg. 2). The majority of Americans are subjected to corporal punishment at one point or another during their lifetime(Kandel, Pg. 4). Surveys suggested that almost all American parents used physical punishment at one point or another and the punishment was regared as an appropriate child rearing technique. Another survey also suggested that some psychologists belive physical punishment to be an effective and useful socialization tool(Kandel, Pg. 2). Aggression is commonly conceived as existing on a continuum, ranging from very severe parental aggression to much milder and normal parental aggression, such as use of corporal or physical punishment(Kandel, Pg. 1). A common concern is that parental use of physical punishment will lead to aggressive behaviour in children.
The effects of child abuse are multiple. The pain and trauma the abused child goes through is just a small part of how this cauldron of hidden depravity in our society affects all of us. Wrecked lives can be seen in persons of all ages and in all walks of life. Society as a whole is also effected by child abuse both in negative and positive ways. In this essay I will present some of the factor and results of this violent behavior on individuals as well as our culture.
I worked for a friend once, and I thought it was the best decision I had ever made. The job was going to be babysitting her kids as often as she needed. Not just one or two kids, but three children, of various ages. I was a little anxious because it was my first job after high school, but I was excited to get started. Without having any experience with kids, I thought to myself , “How simple it was going to be babysitting three kids” I was wrong. It was difficult, and I gave up so much of my time for this friend without getting much in return. Choosing to babysit a friends children caused so many problems. I would have never imagined my first job experience being so dreadful. Working for a friend was a discouraging experience, because I did not have
Children may appear necessitous or tempered somedays and then suddenly become insulted when treated in ways they consider babyish or doglike. When caring for children it must be understood that children are also people, not animals we chain in the backyard with a bowl of food and water or babies we’d kiss and pinch on the cheek every time we hold them. It must be understood by the babysitter that children act in a negative matter when feeling uncomfortable about any real world events mentally or physically. When responding to feelings of negativity, the babysitter should always try and speak to the child to understand what problems are occurring. General questions from children often lead to one worded answers.
Babysitters should always have an eye on the kids at all times. When it is bedtime, “Never put anything in the crib with an infant—no toys, pillows, stuffed animals, or quilts” (Boyse). You should also never show inappropriate movies or books to kids. (Tips for Teen Babysitters). “When the kids are asleep check on them every 15 minutes to make sure they are okay,” (Boyse) Babysitters will need to make sure the children are okay and breathing correctly.
A child may suffer from personal factors such as history of violent behavior, a victim of child maltreatment and attributing hostility towards others is imperative.
Not a fan of children I am not a big fan of kids. I realized this when I started babysitting. It seems like a great idea when you’re fourteen and wanting to make some money, but I quickly realized that babysitting is not for everyone. The first time I babysat it was for my neighbors who had a little boy and girl and its how my fear of children started. I arrived around four thirty and I was supposed to be there until around ten.
