Are you a girl with dreams who wants to prepare for the future? Who wants to be successful in life and wants to be confident? As a young girl, the National American Miss pageant system helped me practice lifelong skills and represent my community. NAM is a natural pageant, which means they want to find the inner beauty in their contestants. In fact, you are judged on these areas of competition; Formal Wear, Personal Introduction, Interview, and Community Service. As your 2017 National American Miss Colorado Pre-Teen, I’d like to share some useful advice you can use at your next state pageant. This is where you will be saying a 30 second “speech” about yourself. I suggest preparing your Personal Intro as soon as you sign up. This must be memorized, and should include facts the judges need to know about you. For example, what makes you unique, what are your hobbies, and what do you have planned for the future. NAM requires you to say these 3 things you have to say; your name, hometown, and ambition. You want to make your Intro catchy by being confident, enjoyable to hear, and interesting. You never want to say just the required things. They want to see if you can speak confidently in front of a crowd. Your attire can include a solid color dress slightly above the knee or an interview suit. Always smile, have an engaging voice, practice to everyone and have it memorized completely! The judges can still see you if you aren’t on stage and when you are on stage. Before speaking, you will have to stand in the back of the stage.
