Most people say things they wish they wouldn’t have but that shouldn’t always hold them back. In one debate Trump decided to call Clinton, “Such a Nasty Woman.” After she made a remark about him avoiding paying more into the Social Security Fund. Adding on to the commotion afterwards, Elizabeth Warren argued a few things to the public about what Trump said to Clinton. Although the term Nasty Woman was only directed towards Clinton, the public took it into their own hands and “Before the debate was over there were ‘Nasty Woman’ t-shirts being sold all over the internet.” (CNN Cast). By the looks of it, the Clinton campaign was waiting for Trump to say something sly like that for a while and just knew how and when to provoke him. Almost as if …show more content…
Saying he personally attacked her as if she didn’t deserve it was a bad judgement call on some people’s behalf because we all know she isn’t innocent herself. So, taking the word of a known liar and should be imprisoned criminal has become some people’s belief now! Wow! What has this world come to! I’m not saying Clinton is all bad but if she would’ve stuck to her speech like she was supposed to; he would’ve never said it in that moment. That whole speech that was made by Warren was completely unnecessary due to the fact I am arguing he was referring to the woman running for president not the entire female population. Yes, it is understood that he has made some crude remarks as far as that part goes but this comment was made of self-defense. The way some people could see it and how I see it; she provoked him on purpose. My family makes t-shirts for a part of our living so I know how hard it is to make a design for a shirt. The fact that they had something ready to go, waiting for what stupid remark he was going to say before the debate was even over is no coincidence. Using “Nasty Woman” as her go to logo, trying to empower women was the perfect move. She was guaranteed the women’s vote after that for sure. Unless, some others say it as do
After claiming that he never asked anyone “to lie, to hide or destroy evidence or take any other unlawful action”, his tone shifts back from defensive to guilty and shameful. Clinton relies, in the second half of his speech, on the repetition of the word ‘private’, to redirect the guilt from himself to the nosey American people. He uses this as a shame tactic, in attempt to reinforce that he is not solely to blame for his actions. He uses alliteration in saying that “it is time to stop the pursuit of personal destruction and the prying into personal lives”, which illustrates his irritability with having his personal life in the spotlight. He later goes on to say that, “I intend to reclaim my family life for my family. It’s nobody’s business but ours”, which suggests, by his use of the word “my”, that President Clinton doesn’t believe that he is solely to blame for what occurred. He later goes on to say that, “I take my responsibility for my part in all of this”, which suggests, by his use of the word “my”, that President Clinton doesn’t believe that he is solely to blame for his actions, both in his private relationship with Ms. Lewinsky and for lying under
Nothing that is considered out-of-bounds or wholesome enough to be beyond reproach. Case in point, a recent article by Carol Costello, the host of "Across America With Carol Costello" recently penned a piece where she presents the 1946 movie "It's a Wonderful Life" as sexist. Isn't that taking things a bit too far? What Did Carol Costello Say?
...is desire for forgiveness. He was dealing with an unprecedented situation, and handled it well, although the speech did feel cold in a few places. Careful word selection and organization of ideas helped Clinton successfully achieve his objective. Although this was a dark period in the history of the United States presidency, the majority of the people of America were able to accept his apology and move on.
She uses strong words to evolve her speech. “We must respect the choices that each woman makes for herself”,” Every women deserves”. When she uses these words(respect and deserves) the message is clear. Clinton is fighting for women rights, she takes this topic in a serious way. It is a commitment she has and wants everyone to listen.
Hilary Clinton impacts he audience with various ways that she explains all the abuse and torment women go through. Her diction consists of words that are horrifying and unpleasant. Such as, “violence”, “fire”, “death”, “burned”, “suffocated”, “drowned”, “greed”, “prostitution”, “rape”, etc. This use of diction creates a disgusted and harsh tone.
...women has escalated to an all-time high. Hillary Clinton’s speech “Women’s Rights are Human Rights” targets this growing problem and by portraying a purpose, style and language, and different appeals to the audience effectively.
Before stepping into the critical analysis of the speech, it is important to understand the historical setting from which the speech arose. The context can be briefly summarized as the following. In 1995 Clinton had a sexual relationship with one of his White House interns by the name of Monica Lewinsky. On January 17, 1998, a sexual misconduct lawsuit against him was filed. Clinton then quickly delivered a forceful public statement that he did not have a sexual relationship with the woman. However, unknown to President Clinton, Linda Tripp, one of Lewinsky’s associates, had recorded several conversations of Lewinsky describing her affair with the President. In the seven months afterwards, Kenneth W. Starr, the StarWhitewater independent counsel, had began collecting evidence of the affair and carrying out investigation about Clinton’s obstruction of justice. Evidence of Clinton lying under oath would be grounds for impeachment. On August 17, 1998, Clinton decided to a...
Hillary Clinton’s speech “Women Rights” transmitted a crucial message to the world and that was to do something about gender inequality. Pathos helped transmit an emotional appeal to the audience and make them see the soft side of Clinton.
One strategy she uses to connect herself with her audience is giving her audience a lot of credit and respect. She often assumes she knows what they want, and that what they want is what she is offering to give. When speaking on her husband and the Lewinsky sex scandal, Hillary Clinton makes it seem as if the American people are above discussing such immature topics as the affair and the allegations, and that they instead are interested in the State of the Union Address.
Unruly Women: The Politics of Social and Sexual Control in the Old South by Victoria E. Bynum begins by simply questioning the reader; asking who these “unruly women” would have been in the antebellum South, and what they could have possibly done to mark them in this deviant and disorderly light. Whenever you think of Southern Women during this time a vision of lovely refined yet quieted and weak women come to mind. It’s a time where women were inferior to men in almost every aspect. Women were expected to stay at home raising children. Women were expected to remain in the house, in the private world of home and family. White men wanted control over all dependents in his household; including their wife, children, slaves, and servants. Bynum
During the Republican debate on August 6, 2016, Trump had a falling out with Fox correspondent Megyn Kelly after she questioned him about some of his comments on women, where he referred to them as “’fat pigs’, ‘dogs’, ’slobs’, and ‘disgusting animals’,” (Bahadur). Trump went on to say Megyn was just a “bimbo” and he “did not recognize” the remarks she had said (Bahadur). However, this incident is just one of many times Trump has made belittling comments about women. On May seventh, 2013, Trump tweeted about the ongoing problem of women in the military being raped by other soldiers. He questioned, “What did these geniuses expect when they put men and women together,” (Bahadur). Rape is a very traumatic experience, and the lack of respect he showed towards the women who are laying down their lives for America is very telling of how he views women. Trump simplifies women down to their sexuality with his insensitive comments. For instance, on April 16, 2015, he tweeted, “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America” (Bahadur). Whether Clinton would be a qualified president or not, Trump disregards all her life’s work, and blames her for...
Hillary Clinton spoke at the United Nation’s fourth world conference on women that was held in Beijing, China in 1995. She made a speech entitled, “Women’s Rights are Human Rights.” The speech was designed to meet the goal of women having rights are human rights. Clinton has been a women’s rights activist since the beginning of her career. She delivered the speech to one hundred and eighty countries, non-governmental organizations, and ordinary people. In the speech, some constraints of Clinton’s speech include her political background causing the audience to be suspicious of what Clinton has to say on this topic. Male audiences that have a prejudice against women and how much freedom they should be allowed because
During her early life, Hillary Clinton learned that a huge problem across the globe was gender inequality. Women and men were not equal. Men were making more money than women for the same jobs. She believed she could change this. On September 5, 1995 Hillary Clinton gave a speech at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women. Clinton uses powerful rhetoric in order to create an air of sympathy for women among her audience. She is hoping to make the world become more aware of the inequalities women face daily while also making them feel ashamed for their previous actions of discriminating women, which would cause them to change their ways. She uses her speech “Women’s Rights Are Human Rights” to create awareness of the discrimination
She was able to deliver such an exceptional speech because of her knowledge and credibility on the topic. Clinton is a woman and frequently has to deal with her own right to be treated as equal to men. Politics is viewed as a man 's job, viewing women as though they cannot do as good of a job as men. Clinton has also traveled the women talking to many women about the struggles they encounter, “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I 've had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my own country and around the world” (Clinton). The Women’s rights battle is an important topic for Clinton. She was able to see, first hand, mothers fighting for healthcare, education, food, and safer housing and town for themselves and their children. By adding her own experience and knowledge on top of the heartbreaking facts and struggles of women makes this speech even more
The controversial question that many American’s ask is “Should there be harsher punishments for bullies?”. Most people either believe they should be treated as criminals, or they should not be treated as criminals. However, they do not take time to find other solutions to the problem. Rather than letting these kids get themselves in too deep with the law, why not find solutions that could prevent bullying from happening in the first place? Instead of enforcing harsher punishments against these children, adults should work together to help them deal with their own troubles.
