Cancer is Cured
Your senior year is supposed to be the best year of your life but not for me. I'm known as Ashli Robson the girl whose best friend is her mom. Yeah, I know I'm a complete loser, or at least that what's people at school call me. I have never been able to make any friends. I go to school get good grades and come home everyday to my mom, who has been sick for the last week, went to the doctor the other day. The phone rings “Ring ring”. I answer,, it's Doctor Fitzgerald calling about my mom's appointment the other day. I answer,“Hi Doctor Fitz” that’s what everyone calls him. “Hi Ashli, is your mom home?”
“Yes, but she's up in bed still sick can I give her the message?”“I'm really sorry to tell you this Ashli but your mom has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and she will need to start treatment next week”“Wait, what?”
“I know this isn't something you want to here if you need any help let us know and we can get you help”. I end the call

We later meet up at our dorm, she asked me what I was majoring in. I told her all about my mom and that I was gonna cure cancer and that it was my destiny to cure cancer. For once in my life, I think I have a friend who isn't my mom. Kelsie told Mr. Defner my science teacher about how I was really dedicated to find the cure to cancer. So, one day he called me in to talk about helping me find a cure after class. We than gots some rats and started testing. It took us about a month to start planning and when we thought we finally had it we tried it. The first actual test was giving after one month of trying to find the cure, Fail. “Why is it failing I need this to work my mom is getting sicker and sicker everyday. We keep trying, but we keep failing the rats would die after 5 minutes of taking the solution. We decide to stop for today after about 5 different tests. When I went back to my dorm, I walk into my dorm and lay down cry. Kelsie asked
When Meghan hears me enter she runs crying "Tim's teasing me and I'm hungry." I ask the kids, "Why didn't you feed her?" Tim responds, "she didn't say she was hungry." Pat runs up from the basement and reminds me I have to take him to guitar practice now or he'll be late.
These last four years have been rough on me but luckily there have been some lessons learned through it. I have just looked forward and moved on to greater things in life. I leave behind the bad and move on to the good. A good quote to describe my adventure through high school is when Jeannette is talking to her mother. The mother says, “ Things usually work out in the end,” to where Jeannette replies, “What if they don’t?” The mother answers with, “That just means you haven’t come to the end yet.” The quote describes my struggles in life and also brings hope for a happier
... find small traces of the virus, and predicted that at one point in time would make an escape to the human population.
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie and she sounds upset .” As I came down stairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.
The first stop was Monica’s class room. We walked through the never ending hallway, searching for Monica’s classroom like detectives on a mission to find a key to the unknown door. We found the Monica’s classroom and dropped her off. The next stop was mine. I found myself getting more nervous each step, I toke. Suddenly my mom and my dad stopped walking and told me that this was my classroom.
I had to get on the phone and say in an adolescent voice that was not very convincing, “This is Mrs. Tan.” And my mother was standing in the back whispering loudly, “Why he don’t send me check, already two weeks late. So mad he lie to me, losing me money. And then I said in perfect English, Yes, I’m getting rather concerned. You had agreed to send the check two weeks ago, but it hasn’t arrived.” Then she began to talk more loudly, “What he want, I come to New York tell him front of his boss, you cheating me?” And I was trying to calm her down, make her be quiet, while telling the stockbroker, “I can’t tolerate anymore excuses. If I don’t receive the check immediately, I am going to have to speak to your manager when I’m in New York next week.” And sure enough, the following week there we were in front of the astonished stockbroker, and I was sitting there red-faced and quiet, and my mother, the real Mrs. Tan, was shouting at his boss in her
Imagine having to wake up each day wondering if that day will be the last time you see or speak to your father. Individuals should really find a way to recognize that nothing in life is guaranteed and that they should live every day like it could be there last. This is the story of my father’s battle with cancer and the toll it took on himself and everyone close to him. My father was very young when he was first diagnosed with cancer. Lately, his current health situation is much different than what it was just a few months ago. Nobody was ready for what was about to happen to my dad, and I was not ready to take on so many new responsibilities at such an adolescent age. I quickly learned to look at life much differently than I had. Your roles change when you have a parent who is sick. You suddenly become the caregiver to them, not the other way around.
My journey began when I signed up to play in a golf tournament for the benefit of the Breast Cancer Foundation when, ironically, I discovered a lump in one of my breasts. At the time I was more concerned with the tournament than the lump and I decided to only monitor it for any changes. Much to my chagrin, I noticed it was steadily growing. A friend suggested that I see a doctor. I procrastinated in doing so, prompting my concerned friend to call and make the appointment for me. Looking back now I probably would not have made it to the doctor if it weren't for the action of a friend who unknowingly played a key role in saving my life.
Senior year. The year known for its “lasts” of everything and the start of one 's adulthood. It’s also a busy part of life- college applications, college acceptance, graduation, and even get to know what the terminal disease “senioritis” feels like. Senior year is the last year that I will get the chance to cheer on the football team every Friday night, running track every Thursday, as well as seeing my favorite teachers on a day to day basis. This year is my year, the year that is going to change everything that I have ever known. Senior year is the year that will impact myself, my friends, my family, as well as everyone that surrounds me. It will be the year of change.
High school is meant to be the time of your life, but for most seniors just like me it can be some of the most emotional and crazy time. The things in my past make me who I am today, and the things I do now are the first footsteps into the future. I’ve learned a lot about myself in these past four years, and I still have so much learning to do. This is my high school story; the good, bad, and the ugly.
As young girl with big dreams I imagined my senior year of high school to be one of the best years of my life. I imagined going to homecoming with all of my friends, being the captain of the varsity soccer and cheerleading teams, going to Friday night football games, going to Prom with my perfect date, and going on a senior trip with all of my best friends. I never imagined my senior year to be the way that it is. I am the new kid.
The best option to achieve a cure for “any number of diseases all rely on current animal experiments” (Animal Experimentation Is Ethical). When these experimentations started to occur, laws were put into place to protect the welfare of animals. So instead of throwing them away after the experiments were done or doing mal-practice in the process, the US Department of Agriculture made the Animal Welfare Act. This act ensures that animals are not mistreated in the process of the experiment and “must be cared for in humane conditions by a licensed veterinarian or other appropriately trained personnel” (Green Haven Press).... ...
“We’ve been trying to get a hold of you for hours; I’m afraid I have some bad news your mother had a car accident and unfortunately died…”
It was a beautiful sunny morning; you could hear the birds singing in the background. I just woke up after a long sleep. It was now 11am and everyone was awake whizzing all around the house and I wondered what all the havoc was about. I came across my mum and asked, “What was going on”. I got no reply. It was like my mum didn’t even see me if I was invisible. After that I could not be bothered to ask because it looked like another busy Sunday morning.
