Nail Art is the new French Manicure. In the 1970s, Jeff Pink, the creator of Orly nail polish, was on a hunt to find a nail painting technique to suit Hollywood’s glamorous yet demanding lifestyle. Actors did not have time to spend hours in nail studios getting their nails painted. He formed a style of white tipped shiny nails that gracefully blended with every look and was less time consuming - this seemed like the perfect solution. And thus began the era of the French Manicure. Now, I may not be a 70s child but this revolution in nail fashion continued for quite some time. Growing up, I was also subject to the burning desire of having the tips of your nails painted white and then a top coat of shiny, slightly pink polish. I assume Jeff Pink wanted his name to be …show more content…
So when I travelled to Europe in 2011, the nail fashion stalls in all the stores had featured sets of French Manicure polishes, pens, stickers and all such things. Following the latest trend, I bought my share of these sets and even on the plane ride back, my sister and I spent hours painting the tips of each others’ nails …show more content…
It began getting replaced by Nail Art, a new phenomenon. Being an avid follower of nail fashion trends, I began to notice the rising popularity of nail art. I formulated some theories of my own about this sudden, drastic shift from simple white tips to proper art on nails. One was based on the fact that the salons that once took two hours to do nail art had now developed techniques to do the exact same thing in fifteen minutes. Another suggested that the sudden rise in appreciation of neon colors resulted in the French Manicure being too dull for
Peruvian fashion is very similar to Europe’s. One of the main reasons for Europe’s influence on their fashion is that it was easy for Peruvians to get their hands
Acrylic nails are not new in the market; these nails are in fashion since centuries. The Egyptians were the first one to introduce
Many girls like to use nail polish to paint their nails, but how about as a libation? This is the case for 25-year-old Bertha, who drinks nail polish when she gets thirsty. Her favorite "flavors" are anything with glitter and the color blue.
Nail designs covered in school or training include full coverage, half-moon, hairline, and free edge. These are basic nail techniques. In modern times, it’s an everyday thing to see a person with acrylic nails. In fact, they have become an integral part of fashion. Although these nails seem easy to apply, they involve intricate design and a steady hand with a focused mind, as they are more complicated than press-ons.
The perfectly formed Pink Plastic Flamingo arrived into the world at just the right time in the 1950s too... when the color pink was really vogue...as in 'spread like butter' over household appliances, pink colored kitchens and overall, punctuating the fashion world in the most charming ways, and...populating bath and beauty products. Pink crisscrossed traffic conveyances from cars to scooters, and anywhere the color pink could possibly find a nook. What a boon for the pink plastic flamingo!
My day started kind of rough, because I and my wife couldn’t agree to manage our diverse schedule. I was scheduled to meet with members of my class in downtown San Diego, and she was scheduled for her event at work. Ultimately, after a brief argument, we utilized two different vehicles heading the same direction. A conflict in timing was the cause of our disagreement. As a result, the day for me started chaotic resulting in no inner peace of mind. I didn’t sense no normal pattern of tranquility in my thoughts. I felt mentally exhausted, anguish and pain at the knowledge I that couldn’t be trusted to go to a museum on my own. I started my day with an attitude of frustration and anger. To make matters worse, I thought I was going to a place where historically I found peace and tranquility in my mind. I was always very fond of art, and believe artist today have the freedom to express themselves with whatever style and methodology they have in life. Contemporary artist have greater freedom and influence than artist in the past, because they can use their artistic works to persuade individuals and help them realize or understand they have psychological or emotional personal problems. I believe art can help identify and expose underlying emotional and personal issues that some would normally be reluctant to share openly. This is my own profound personal self-realization.
As far as footwear goes, women mostly wore low heels, flats, or sandals; girls wore kitten pumps or flat sneakers and white sneakers with stockings a shade or two darker than their natural skin color. Popular men’s shoes were moccasins, sandals, oxfords, brogues, cowboy boots, and suede shoes. Boys mostly wore boots with side zippers and Cuban heels. Hairstyles for women were either very long and straight or very short. Some hairstyles were very big and required a large amount of hair spray. The late 60s popularized ‘beehive’ hairdos, ‘chin-length contour’ cut, ‘pageboy’, and the bouffant style. In addition, guiche curls were popular because they made female’s faces look smaller, like a doll. Popular hairstyles for males were the mop-top, the crew cut, and the ‘Rockability’ also known as the ‘pompadour’. The African American men styled their hair more like an afro. Female donned more jewelry in the late 60s. Some women wore the traditional gold, white pastel, and colored pearls. Children wore fake plastics, vinyl, and bold colors based on Pop Art. Large, wide bangles or stacks of thin bracelets were worn and were very noisy when they hit together. The most common makeup look consisted of long eyelashes, shimmer
History plays a very important role in the development of art and architecture. Over time people, events, and religion, have contributed to the evolution of art. Christianity has become a very common and well established religion, however, in the past it was hidden and a few people would worship this religion secretly. Gradually, Christianity became a growing religion and it attracted many converts from different social statuses. Christian art was highly influenced by the Greco-Romans, but it was immensely impacted by the establishment of the Edict of Milan in the year 313 AD. The Edict of Milan was so significant that scholars divide Christian art into two time periods, time before and after the Edict of Milan of 313.

mostly associated with the media and their deception of a perfect body. Tracey Gold is a former actor from the sitcom Growing Pains. “Gold, who now speaks publicly on the subject of eating disorders, admits that her illness began around the age of seven when she became obsessed with achieving the media's definition of the ideal body” (Chittom and Finley). Tracey Gold is a perfect example of how media affects girls at such a young age. The same way they start off dreaming of being a princess, is the same outlook they have on achieving thinness like the models that ambush their lives daily.
Having the ability to shape a student’s life is truly a gift; so many of my art teachers inspired me to follow my dreams. After hearing Taylor Mali’s poem, What Teachers Make, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher: I want to make a difference. Mali spoke with so much passion as he answered the age old question ‘what do teachers make.’ “I make parents see their children for who they are and who they can be,” this quote really moved me because I think in a lot of situations students’ talents are overlooked by their parents (Mali.) My art teachers always had their hand in the community creating sculptures for the local fire department or crocheting hats and baby booties. I feel good teaching shows students how to apply the knowledge they learned. I want to model what they learned so they can apply it to their everyday life. I attend to teach my students to be active members of society and be aware and respectful of others’ culture, and teach them how to apply the skills they learn in art in their everyday life.

In the art community there is a lot of controversy in distinguishing what the difference between an artist and a designer. Designers are told they are not artist and they need to stop thinking they are artist. When dealing with art and design specific demographics and viewers interpret the messages of each subject in different ways. Art is said to be elucidated and design is said to be understood. Artists usually develop a work of art with the intention of bringing an emotion viewpoint, instinctive feeling, and or state of mind. When you look at an artist work it cannot be limited to just exhibiting one individual thought or just one individual meaning. That is a big difference when it comes to graphic design. Graphic design usually has a very specific goal and point to make. When dealing with graphic design there should not be any room or space for any mixed messages or multiple meanings. The audience of the design should immediately understand the design that the designer created. Art connects to people differently in so many ways. The only reason it connects to people in different ways is only because it is interpreted differently.
“Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life” (Picasso). These words about the fine arts describe not only life in general, but also apply to everyday life of public school students. Many students need something to divert their attention away from jaded academics that cause them stress and mental deterioration. Fine arts are the solution to that problem; unlike academics and athletics, they provide an outlet for students to be creative and discover their talents without the pressure other courses produce. Additionally, the arts stimulate the brain, and generally promote positive brain activity and development in teenagers. So, if fine arts positively affect students, then why are they so
