During my Senior year at Middletown High School they added a brand new class called Career Internship, I was lucky enough to be apart of the first ever Internship class at Middletown High School. There was many options for my Internship but one stood out more than others. I chose to go to Miller Ridge Elementary with the gym teacher. I worked with fourth and fifth graders and played with them and teach them how to do the activities. I feel like me being there with the kids they would try their best and put their best effort into the games we’re playing. One of my favorite memories was when you would walk in and all the kids would be so excited to see you, they would be jumping up and down yelling my name and run up to me and I would give every
I was also in Algulitos, a program where high school students teach younger students Spanish. I led a classroom of second graders every Friday while integrating fun and learning. I was very excited to be involved in this program because it was an opportunity to be a successful role model for younger children. I developed many friendships ...
The Johnsonville High School was built in 1933 to serve as a high school only. Mrs. Laurene McLean, a teacher educated at Fayetteville State University (formerly known as the State Teachers College), had long dreamed of such a school being built in the Pineview and surrounding areas for young people to continue their education after the elementary years. She put forth the initial efforts for erection of the school and traveled to Raleigh, NC to make preparation and put into motion plans for the high school.
Many people are given the opportunity to overcome challenges that can change their life. In the movie Lean on Me, the students and faculty of the inner city school Eastside High School, located in Paterson New Jersey, are given such opportunity.
Leading Ladies is a comedic play written by Ken Ludwig which was published in 2006. It revolves around two men who attempt to dress up as women in order to gain inheritance from a woman who supposedly passed away. Things become difficult once they realize that the old woman, who they must call Aunt Florence, is still alive. The two men, Jack Gable and Leo Clarke, are two Shakespearean actors who are struggling to make it big. The rest of the cast involves a soon to be wed couple Meg and Duncan, the men’s “Aunt” Florence, a simpleminded diner girl, and father-son duo Butch and Doc. Doc mistakenly thought Florence was dead which led the boys to dress up as her long lost nieces in order to gain millions in inheritance, however they soon find out
On October 29th Saturday, I participated in a volunteer opportunity with the democratic campaign. The office had more than 20 people, some of them were making phone calls. I received a package with a map, a list of people’s name, address, and other basic information about the person. My duty was knocking those people’s doors and ask them “who are you going to vote?” “Do you have any things that you want to say about the society?” I do not have a car so they assigned me to the place which is located in walking distance from Beloit College. A married couple who were at the office offered me a ride to Campus. Both of them are in their 50’s. They told me that they have a friend who is now teaching at a university in Tokyo, Japan. The lady also had been to Japan in 1980 as a student. Her husband did not talk much.
On my trip to Churchill Middle School I was paired with a sixth grader named Finley Kane. Finley takes eight classes every day and it placed in Accelerated English and Accelerated Math. These classes are more advanced classes for the students that are ahead of the rest of the grade.
High school is one of the biggest decisions that I, as a young teenager, has to make. I am truly concerned that I am going to choose a school that is not going to help me. Though immediately as I walked through the doors of Thomas More High School for the open house in 2014, I knew right then and there that this was the school for me. I loved the environment and how everyone was so welcoming. The academics fit perfectly for what I want to do in my future. There are other little details that really sold me on the school. It had ultimately a great school that had everything that I could ever ask for.
Since my last year of high school has started, I have been apart of events and worked on projects that exemplify my growth as an academic student and as a global citizen. The job shadow project and career presentation I worked on in English class both reflect my growth in college and career readiness. The tree planting event I attended as apart of H.O.P.E. reflects my growth as a global citizen through taking action in my community.
I was accepted into the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program, which fits intense paramedic training into mere weeks. I both loved and excelled at the challenge, graduating top of my class and one of the only students to have earned 100% on the practical exams. This success inspired me, though I was consistently on the Honour Roll in secondary school. I enjoyed being involved in my school community, dedicating many hours to organizing events as a member of Grad Exec, Leadership, MUN, Youth in Action, and Global Perspectives - where I volunteered at the local soup kitchen and coordinated a fundraiser for the Nepal earthquake project. I also worked with a special needs group focusing on socialization skills, building connections with the individuals was incredibly gratifying.
Working at a daycare has opened my eyes to how many kids look up to us high schoolers- especially athletes. Whenever a child tells me they want to be like me, it truly puts a smile on my face. This makes feel like I accomplished being a good example for these kids. I want them to be able to see what can happen when a person makes good decisions. I love knowing how many little kids look up to me; it helps me become a better person.
Through these fun and challenging times each one of us has built strong relationships. Whether it was with friends or a teacher, we have developed connections and memories that will be with us forever, even if we lose contact with those individuals. Some students have discovered they have a passion for writing through a creative writing class or want to have a career in business from taking Mr. Ide’s inspirational marketing classes. Others have participated in CLIP or summer school to catch up and make it possible for them to be here today. I went to Heights Elementary and have spent the last 12 years with the same group of people. Attending school with the people I’ve known since elementary and middle school, and making homecoming posters with them for four years in a row, has given me a chance to get to know the people around me better than I ever thought I would.
Around my sophomore year of high school, I was manager of the junior varsity baseball team, where I learned a bit about coaching along with statistics, and marketing. I continued to manage the team throughout the summer and fall seasons, and was eventually brought up to manage the varsity teams. Along with my experiences in high school, I completed two internships before I enrolled in college. One working with a charity golf tournament, and the other working for the Washington Nationals. Today, I have already completed six internships in the sporting industry.
I spent most of my time in a first grade classroom. In this classroom I observed the children as well as the teacher and paraprofessional. This classroom had children with special needs and that is why there was a paraprofessional in the classroom for half the day. What I observed in this classroom was how children with special need should be handle and taught. The teachers in this room loves her job and each student in her class. While in the classroom the teacher allowed me to help with children with their work, read to them and help them with anything else that they needed. During this field experience I got to give back to not only a school, but to a community that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that I touched each student in a special way, because the students that I got the opportunity to help learn touched my
I would attend the school pep rallies, football games, join the school powerlifting club, and school dances like Homecoming and Prom. Although these annual school events were fun and memorable, volunteering for community service hours holds a special relationship with me. It helped me realize my passion for helping people in a socially and physical way. This passion accompanied with my hobby of exercising led me to pursue the career of a physical therapist. In general, the experiences and lessons that I’ve adopted in American Canyon High School was truly life changing, and I’m grateful for it everyday.
The teaching internship class at Sandburg has been a great experience so far. I love the fact that I am able to learn more about the profession that really interests me. It really gives me a firsthand look on how everything operates and teaches me things that ...
