The personality disorder that I chose was Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) and the character I decided to write about who I believe has this disorder is Rogelio De La Vega from the TV series Jane the Virgin. It is important to state that he was not diagnosed with this disorder in the show and that my knowledge about this disorder allowed me to diagnose him. People who have NPD are very envious, and Rogelio is indeed envious of his rival Esteban Santiago. He always claims that Esteban is very jealous of Rogelio, but they are two of the same people, who are both jealous of each other. They become co-stars in a TV show, where the fight every time because of their envy and jealousy of their fame, acting, looks, etc. I chose this particular episode because it explains how Rogelio meets the criteria that exploits other people for personal goods. As mentioned, the Rogelio and Xiomara were fighting and did not speak to each other for three years and this is because of her unwanted role in the reality show with Darci. Xiomara was portrayed as the “evil ex”, which led fans to torment her. She was not happy with it and got angry with Rogelio, but he continued to film the show and allowed the producers to portray her that way for his own needs. Rogelio wanted the fame, and since the ratings went higher because of the “evil ex”, then Rogelio agreed to it. He did not care or lacked empathy for Xiomara, because of his own desires to be famous and
