My first experience as a student of CCD was English 092 class. Being bilingual, I was afraid that I would not be able to pass this class, for the reason that I’m not fluent in English. Thoughts, that my classmates would not be able to understand my speech due to my strong accent, and the professor would not be able to grade my assessments by cause of grammar mistakes, didn’t let me sleep well until the middle of the class. Despite my worrying feelings, I was able to prove to myself that I can set goals and achieve them. First of all, my professor Lorenza Lara helped to believe in myself, that everybody can make mistakes, that perfection is achieved by a long way of mistakes and practice. I feel that through my experience of this English class, I have improved my vocabulary, approach to the writing, and increase my confidence in writing skills.

The Boys in the Boat gave me a little shock. Actually, I have had a little expectation to read an English book before, so I was so excited and worried. However, the book describes very elaborately, with lots of words I haven’t seen before, what the rowers did. I realized that there were lots of words I don’t know. Moreover, it was hard to memorize the descriptive words because those are too many. Nevertheless, by reading the book again and again, it is getting better, and even it is fun now. I like the feeling that I’m learning the vocabulary every day by just reading instead of memorizing. Without delay, I begin my in-depth look into the requirements of this study and what was expected of me, as an English 111 student. To successively complete these assignments, I would need to be focused on the process of such writing assignments. Along with the instructor’s ideas that our writing would be done in such different ways it will eventually consume every waking moment of my time and become top priority for the next four months.
English has always provided an influential and sanctuous undertone within my literate life, assuming a variety of forms that stem from beyond the requirements of academia. Countless time has been blissfully occupied writing and experimenting with my own pieces of work, from short novels to poetry and dramatic texts, and countless time has been happily spent immersing myself in eclectic pieces from the broad spectrum of literature.
Now, I not only have a new found confidence in writing and in my life skills. Mrs.Cohen provided proper feedback and guidance with each assignment. Due to this, my writing confidence flourished. Without this course, not to mention the teacher, I would not even think about applying for dual enrollment. I certainly feel I have improved in English classes and my passion was rekindled. Mrs.Cohen made me find the enjoyment in writing again and inspired me to be myself. I wish to keep my work ethic, strong to become successful while being myself and I will be forever thankful for
Entering this course I was worried because I have struggled with writing in the past, and writing has never been my strongest area. I feared writing classes in middle and high school, and had the same expectations for this course. I had wondered if I was ready for college English, and was worried that my skills and abilities would not be one the level they needed to be for college courses. My attitude and understanding of my writing process have both changed since the beginning of this semester. One thing that really helped my attitude and confidence was the fact that I was able to complete the assignments and get a decent grade. I was worried that I might not be able to do college level writing, and when I started completing the assignments and learning new ways to write my confidence and attitude changed. Another thing that really helped me throughout this course was that there was plenty of reading and information available to guide me through my assignments. I realized that there was more freedom when it comes to writing than I had experienced in high school. Being able to write more freely, and the freedom to choose what subjects I would write over made the assignments more enjoyable and easier to
During my first semester of college, I felt like this course overshadowed all the others. I faced many challenges, gained better habits, and even increased the value of myself as a scholar. Not only did my professor provide her students with the course material she built a confidence inside of us that will allow us to be able to tackle any task, especially pertaining to any written compositions. The things that I have learned from this course could and will be applied to any and everything I do from here on out, whether that writing an essay or even taking a test. Again, the journey was long, but I will be forever grateful for the things that I, and all of my peers have gained from this
Most of us write in some form every day, so you would expect that most of us would be well practiced and pretty good at writing. I read and write all the time; I have been taken several college courses and nearly all of them require write of some form. However, before taking this class not only was I not a good writer, I knew I wasn’t a good writer. Now I am not saying that I am ready to write my first novel, but I certainly more confident in turning in my college papers. The content of this course and the style of teaching was incredibly beneficial to me. Throughout this course we had multiple assignments that were aimed to improve us as writers. I am sure that everyone took something different from this course, and I am sure that each student took more from some areas than others; however for me there were three major things that I saw that I benefited from most. Our weekly craft lessons, grammar plan, but most of all, observational learning.
My first college English class was ENC 1101 at the State College of Florida. In this course, I learned a vast amount of information about writing, reading, and grammar. When I first walked into ENC 1101 in August, I expected the class to be like any other English class in High School; with rushed busy work and a lot of useless tests and quizzes. However, throughout each week of the semester, Professor Knutsen’s class made me beg to differ. This class was not like any other high school English class. In this class I actually learned important information and did not do work just to complete it. This class had a few assignments here and there, enough to maintain, in order to learn proper information. I learned a lot in this class because I was not rushed to
Throughout this semester I have learned many ways of writing through two main essays literacy narrative and comparison and contrast. These two essays have taught me how to correctly fix my comma splices, thesis statements, and capitalization. I have engaged in numerous learning material during this summer class. Many times when I thought it would be hard to work on those three developments I never gave up. I gain more positive feedback from my teacher because he pointed out most of my mistakes I made on both literacy narrative and comparison and contrast essays to help me understand what is it that I need to work on. My development as a writer became stronger.

In summary, I had an enjoyable time in my first college English class. I pushed myself as diligently as I could and learned much more than I thought I would. In addition to, my strengths grew stronger and my weaknesses improved as well. During my studies, I have learnt to look deeper into the meaning of language we use, and how its adaptation can have different effects. My love for English language has been enhanced by the coursework aspect of my studies, it has enabled me to apply my knowledge to an independent project where I was able to write originally in different genres, such as speeches and articles. I was able to adapt my language in order to successfully achieve a purpose and engage a target audience. Before entering this class, I thought I was prepared for college English. I had incredibly capable high school English teachers, who taught me detailed mechanics, creative writing style, and of course, the necessity of practicing good grammar. On entering this class, I quickly realized how little I had actually learned in my high school English classes. While most of my high school English essays I wrote were based on literature, the majority of the essays I wrote in this class have been more experiential and centered on real-life issues. I expected to be writing essays on books I read and articles I analyzed, but that was not the case. This class showed me in a variety of ways that things are often very different than they seem originally
