For as long as I can remember I have been engrossed by the animal kingdom, and as I have been growing up my fascination has only increased and my aspiration to learn about what went wrong and how to discover ways to solve the problem, especially in relation to the welfare of animals. I have invaluable experience with working with livestock as I have grown up on a suck cow farm. As well as growing up in this environment I have attained several weeks of work experience. The work experience I have undertaken has given me a realistic insight into what the entire wide-spectrum veterinary career consists of, including the highs and the lows. Having volunteered in the MSPCA for two weeks I got an insight into animal welfare issues, particularly the …show more content…
There I saw lots of intriguing operations, such as a suspected Left Displaced Abomasum (LDA). But the operation that stands out most is assisting the vet with a caesarean section. It involved pulling the calf out of the uterus as quickly as possible, and the calf must be pulled up and out to avoid further damage to the site of incision. Also I held the uterus up using tongue holding forceps, while the vet was stitching the uterus up. I learnt from this experience that it requires lots of physical effort, concentration and how essential it is to remain calm in high stress environments, trates I believe I …show more content…
I contribute to school life as much as possible, for example being part of my school’s production of ‘Made in Dagenham’ in 2016. I have been involved with music from a very early stage. I take part in competitions individually and in groups. I have gone on to represent my county and province at the All Ireland stage on several occasions. On the 1st of April 2016, I attained my grade 8 in the London College of Music for Irish Traditional Music on the piano accordion. I enjoy expressing and improving my musical skills to other people. Music has taught me many life skills such as commitment, teamwork, listening and communication skills. For many summer months now, I have been working on building sites. I have learned that time management is essential to get all jobs done as well as multi-tasking. Also, it has enhanced my awareness for health and safety risks and how to utilise and analyse situations so that all situations are safe for co-workers and
My interest in and understanding of the field of veterinary science has only been heightened with the time I have spent on various valuable work experience placements over recent years, especially during the four weeks in small and mixed animal practices in England, Wales, and Ireland. Spending time in these four very different practices allowed me to observe a wide range of routine and emergency
I am extremely interested in pursuing my life career as a veterinary technician because I believe any animal’s welfare and stability is just as important as a human being’s. I absolutely...
For this project, I decided to take on the career of a veterinarian. As a veterinarian, I would have to examine animals to diagnose their health problems, treat and dress wounds, perform surgery on animals, test for and vaccinate against diseases, operate medical equipment(x-ray machines, etc.), advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments, prescribe medication, and euthanize animals. To get a job in this profession, you have to have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. You also have to have to take many science classes including biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, zoology, microbiology, and animal science. You would have to take about four years of college which adds up to about $100,000 dollars in student
For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
...would for yourself or a family member. Nutritional Therapy by means of providing additional nutritional supplementation to your pet's diet is a relatively inexpensive, practical and useful method of health support that a pet owner can easily administer at home.
On my first clinical rotation outside of 5w, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital, I had the pleasure of visiting the OR. My last week of clinical rotation, I got the opportunity to witness two different cases. I saw a hemorrhoidectomy, and a Laparoscopic colectomy. Although I only had an opportunity of witnessing the hemorrhoidectomy in the middle of the procedure, both procedures were quite invasive. There were both very interesting to watch.
Veterinarians provide medical services for animals that are big and small. Helping sick animals weather they are big or small. They provide medicine for house pets and farm animals. When owners take there pet to the vet they are looking for someone to provide information to them about their animal. Some of the information given to the own is about how to properly care for your animal to make sure it grows the right why. Veterinarians are there to help animals no matter the size.
The complexity and diversity of the animal kingdom has always captivated me. This has resulted in a desire to accomplish a place in Veterinary Nursing. This aspiration has it’s origins in an early family life occupied with animals and pets, a developing interest in the science and wellbeing of animals and an expanding sense of duty for the care we owe to the creatures which convey true companionship and loyalty. Work experience and volunteering has taught me to recognise and appreciate the ‘guardian’ roles performed by the veterinarian and veterinary nurse which has served to increase my determination to pursue a career in a field which has an everlasting effect on animal companionship and welfare, as well as human industry, community and
Sixty-two percent of Americans own pets in the United States today. However, they aren’t just pets. They’re loyal companions and an owner’s best friend. Majority of people would go to great lengths to help their best friend. Veterinarians examine and care for animals. They perform tests to determine what is wrong with an animal, and then prescribe medicine to help it. Occasionally an animal may even need to stay at the clinic over a period of time until its well enough to go home (“Veterinarians” Oklahoma Career Information System). People who wish to be a veterinarian need specific skills and training to be able to perform the expectations of the job. Once these goals are accomplished vets are able to take opportunities offered of this job and make the income given.
Music has always been an important part of my life. During high school I have developed areas of service and leadership through interests in children and gardening, which will continue to be major parts of my life.
My love for music has kept me afloat through many tribulations throughout my life. When I was younger I was fascinated with the concept of music theory. This love led me to play recorder, piano, and now guitar. I love the freedom that music allows one when composing an original piece. There are so many genres and aspects of music to choose that one can never be bored. With my music, I feel I am able to paint a vivid story of my life. As the notes carry my thoughts and passions, I am able to share my hopes and dreams with anyone who would stop and listen. I hope to improve my skills in the future and work on sharing my love for music with others. There's no better feeling than composing and preforming ones own
Foremost, as stated by the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA), the non-profit organisation rescued roughly 27,200 injured, neglected and abused animals in 2015. Regretfully, cases of animals being beaten, burned, poisoned or stabbed to death are not infrequent. It is needless to say that the career of a veterinarian can be provoking, infuriating and dismaying. Based on this evidence, there is a common belief that one should not choose this career, since these professionals witness animal cruelty. Unfortunately, it is accurate that vets will observe suffering and truly comprehend that the human nature
I entered the center completely unprepared for the level of education and hard work that the center demanded, but thrived knowing that I was helping heal animals in peril (many of whom were there directly because of human actions). After many hours of feeding, cage cleaning, and handling dangerous patients, I felt as though I had learned as much from the animals as I had my teachers. However, I also found myself frustrated more often than not when I found a limit to my ability to aid animals. There is no worse feeling than knowing that an animal urgently needs care that you are unable to provide. This feeling encouraged me to further my education in animal care, so that I can be the best caretaker possible for animals in
Playing a musical instrument as a hobby, gives an immense sense of achievement and true satisfaction, in that one can never feel like playing difficult songs or playing it flawlessly. This boosts the ego and enforces sense of self-achievement, which accomplish more in other aspects of life. Playing instrument as a hobby, require regular practice and dedication. Allotting time to practice daily develops discipline in a person. This can be very advantageous to children who, research shows that everything else fails, but music disciplines children-when they are naturally curious and excited about it.
