I currently attend John McCrae Secondary School in Barrhaven, Ontario. In school and outside, I am involved in a gamut of activities. I strongly believe that education is imperative because an opportunity to learn is an opportunity to prosper in life.
At school, I am an avid member of musical activities such as the Junior Jazz Band Club, concert band, and Woodwind Ensemble as a tenor saxophonist. Music is a subject which I have always relished invariably. I contribute to band activities by providing improvement plans and feedback.
Clubs are another paramount part of my high school activities as they are an excellent way to form social connections and help establish long-term relationships. I am active in the eco-club at John McCrae. The intention of the eco-club is to embolden students to take better care of the school environment. During the summers of 2013, 2014 and 2015, I volunteered at my mother's Second Cup cafés accumulating over 300 hours in total. This volunteering experience helped me develop self-esteem, socialization skills, surmount shyness and become a strong team player. I contributed by serving customers, brewing and grinding coffee, conducting inventory counts and making simple drinks. I plan to volunteer again next year. The experience encouraged me to volunteer at my previous school's CASA science camp for one month. I contributed to the camp by assisting teachers with lessons, putting children to sleep and helping them clean.
