My Visit to Japan
“Traveling is an adventure.” Amongst my most interesting ones was my visit to the peaceful country of Japan. I journeyed there to visit my husband who was living there at the time. I had a few encounters that I thought were interesting. The journey was long and exhausting. I was the only Jamaican on the plane; everyone else where Asian. However, the atmosphere was warm and, it was a bit weird, but I appreciated something new.
I arrived at Fukuoka International Airport then drove about two hours to Sasebo which was my destination. I was so tired that I slept for two days. After I woke up, it started raining. At first I wondered why because I didn’t see a garbage disposal around but yet the streets were clean. I later noticed people hand weeding the streets to try and keep their country clean. I was also told that it was a part of the system that they had in place. They seem to take pride into cleanliness which really says a lot about them as a people. While I was there, my husband and I disposed of our garbage on the Navy Base because their deposal system was too peculiar. I cannot explain it as I still don’t know. Whenever we went out and had to get rid of something, the Japanese would do the necessary separations and get rid of it, otherwise we would take it home. I tend to be a bit hard to please but I tried to stay open minded. I visited a Ramen Noodle soup restaurant in Fukuoka. When I entered I placed my order through a machine. I told it exactly how I wanted my noodles and spices, then it dispensed a ticket. I was then seated and my ticket taken through a window. My order was completed within a minute. I was a bit skeptical because it looked weird. The noodles were in pork broth, with a slice on pork, egg, seaweed and scallions on top. It was amazing, different, it was like nothing I have ever tasted before. It was delicious. The service was also excellent. Additionally, I had the Sasebo Hikari Burger, which was Sasebo’s most famous burger. Between two huge buns were, two slabs of fried ground chicken meat combined with an omelet, bacon, layers of lettuce and tomato with a weird sweet mayonnaise. It was by far the biggest burger I had ever seen with its own unique delightful taste. I was blown away. I also had calamari for the first time, which I did not
