Dear. mr milliren My reading goal was to be able to read more than one book this semester and i accomplished that.i am proud of my self for being able to read more than one book. One of the books that i read this semester was the 5th wave. That book was good i suggest you read it because i liked it but that's my opinion on that book. I thought that the 5th wave was a good book i think it was a fiction book i like fiction books they are good stories that you can tell. She was surviving on her own and that’s what i like. I like people that are alone because it inspires me when they have the strength to do things on their own its kinda like my mom she was single for a while raising 4 kids in her own she inspires me to be able to be independent and have that same strength. I learned that being alone is ok but not all the time but you can do it. The book i really liked was football genius because i have a passion for football. My favorite author was tim green because he wrote football genius. In Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson it brings forth the lesson of perseverance. Mattie had to keep going and persevering even though her world was crashing down around her. When Mother first got sick Mattie had to look after her and attempt to care for her.
She was poor and very hungry. She got help from other girls who were suffering just like her. She just wanted to better her life because it was something her ancestors couldn’t do. She ended up learning that it is indeed hard to be an American. The Americans treated her like garbage and the nameless girl found out that “America” still needed improvements. In order for America to be the promised land, the nameless girl had to give a small portion of her own. The nameless girl felt sad for what was going to happen tomorrow because America would be too wise, too open hearted, too friendly handed, to let the least comer to come and make them feel unwanted.

The things this reader likes about this book is that it was interesting in the fact that it had real stories from real veterans in the war. Some of the stories were explained in gruesome detail in which this reader thought was very disturbing. It is disgusting to know what happened to some of the Vietnamese and veterans during that war. What this reader also liked was how they explained the war while showing the opinions of some of the veterans. The least thing this reader liked about this book was that it didn’t keep you on the edge. Even though this was a war story it didn’t captivate me as much as I would have wanted it to. It became boring at parts when they explained how the war started and how the Chinese were trying to take control of Vietnam. What the author should have done was explain the war with minimum detail and have many comments from the people who were actually involved in it.
Jeannette Walls came from a family that had always faced many struggles in life. They had to travel to many areas due to job search. At first it was all fun and games until their lives were affected in negative ways. Specifically, the parent's decisions and actions caused unforgettable moments. Although, Jeannette Walls’s father had struggles of his own and couldn’t take good care of his children due to his alcoholism; it made his children be more prepared for the future.
During her teen years, she was abused and lonely. She gave birth to her first child when she was only sixteen years old. She was in her first marriage when she was only nineteen years old. After three children, two marriages, and a breakdown, she realizes that there is a lot more to life than her current circumstances.
My opinion of this novel is that it was a good book. If I personally had to pick a book to read it would not be my first choice. But overall I had an easy time reading this book and it actually meant something so it wasn’t too bad. At the end I was satisfied for the time read.
The attempts the women tries so to be in vain till the end when it over boils. The women set herself free in the only way she knew how. I would recommend this book to a certain type of person that I am not. This book would be great for someone who wants to learn more about the fishes that most commonly end up on their plate. If someone was interested in in the future of the oceans and the last wild food, this book would be great for them. While I did not enjoy the book I still give it three stars out of five due to being full of good information to those that want it.
Throughout the story there are several aspects of the Protagonist’s character that play a major role in the shaping of her future. During her childhood she often demonstrates a sense of fear when she is sent to her bedroom. “We were afraid of the inside, the room were we slept (pg. 549).” She is intimidated by her personal space because she does not have control over it. Later, she gains control by adding lace to her side of the room; symbolically adding personality to herself and slipping into womanhood. When she felt uncomfortable she exercised her imagination, to psychologically regain control over the confusion in her life. Her subconscious effort to control confusing times were carried on to her later years as she was constantly put in difficult situations, which helped her to adjust quickly to change during adulthood. The dreams she created changed when she began to place emphasis on her appearance-that which she could control, other than past dreams of heroism that seemed so distant from reality. The Protagonist filled her childhood with much pride and maintained a consistent focused upon the activities that filled her childhood. She relished working at the side of her father, taking immense pride in every aspect of her assigned duties. She proclaimed, “I worked willingly under his eyes, and with a feeling of pride (pg. 551)” Once after her father introduced her to a feed sales man as “my new hired man (pg. 551),” the Protagonist was flooded with pride as she “turned away and raked furiously, red in the face with pleasure (pg. 551).” In her later years her pride helped her to assemble strong self-confidence she used in her years of growing. Passion and depth were characteristics that impacted her future as a woman. Her passion and depth was revealed early on in the story ...
... cross my mind but I find myself thinking differently since enrolling in this class. I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to relate to the main character, reflect on my life, and try to change myself in the process of reading it. I was able to see the parts of my life that had not been even fathomed before. When reading the book I found it difficult to read and somewhat boring but once I thought about the concepts and people involved in our class it gave me a better understanding of the book. One piece of advice would be to have the five people/ five concepts before reading these books because I feel I missed some key points looking back on the book. I feel that knowing these people/concepts before reading the book would have helped me understand the book better. This book was and interesting one and allows for every reader to have their own interpretation of it.
...self exaggerated stories. One thing she tells herself is that her mother was kidnapped by a lunatic. On another occasion a classmate asks where her mother is and she says that her mother is on a business trip in London. Their similarities help each other to grow and mature and eventually come to terms with their situations.
My relationship with books and reading has not been the greatest adventure for me thus far. I will not say that all my experience has been terrible but for the most part not that great. I know for me it started when I was little and unfortunately it has carried to my adulthood.
