My Perfect World

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”- Martin Luther King Jr. And isn’t he right. We all have dreams, whether it’s you or me. If only we could all create our own perfect world, one that would satisfy all of our wants and needs. It may seem impossible, but what if we could? I believe anything is possible. It’s just as possible for me to hate the color pink, collect dictionaries, and own genetically modified flying pigs (when pigs fly) as it is for me to create a perfect world. And supposing it is possible, I will begin with my idea of a perfect world, a world where there would be no surprises and no mistakes. In my perfect world, there would be no surprises. Most surprises that are deliberately prepared for a person are meant to have satisfying results for both the receiver and the one who prepared for it in the first place, but the good intentions can often be misjudged or just somehow go wrong. In a simple scenario, a family member or friend decides to give a puppy or kitten as a present for the holidays. Everyone is supposed to be happy, but it turns out that someone is allergic, the new pet does not get along well with another pet, or the landlord happens to not allow fuzzy little balls of fur in the apartment building. Either way, there is some excuse that makes the present unsuitable for the family. This holiday gift is then returned to the animal shelter, where it joins many other unwanted pets where they live in great stress and fear until they are adopted, or put to rest due to overcrowding of shelters. This happens to more than half of the pets given as holiday gifts in the United State... ... middle of paper ... ...d the better? Mistakes are also bad because they can create chaos and pandemonium. A single misplacement of a document can mess up an entire company. Misprints on the price of an airplane ticket can cause a company to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. And making the mistake of not telling someone something can cause death, misunderstandings, and other troublesome occurrences. Mistakes are negative events indeed. In conclusion, a world without surprises and mistakes is a perfect world. This perfect world would succeed, too. The fact that the people living in the perfect world are perfect themselves allows the world to succeed in becoming a utopia. Besides, the most awful mistakes are made when surprises are made, so when you take away surprises…you take away mistakes, too. A world with no surprises and no mistakes is a perfect world. And that, is not a surprise.
