The coffee shop I decided to do my observation was the well known Starbucks just a couple blocks away. The reason I chose this coffee shop was because of it 's style inside, it attracted me. For example, one side of the wall has a glass top, and the lower part of the wall, made of wood and painted in a bright red color, which was one thing that attracted me and stood out. Outside of the shop people can actually see through the glass wall and get to see what’s happening inside of the coffeeshop. By the entrance you see these two red ceiling lamps which were shaped in a flower bud and these two tall green plants. Once you were in, on the right of the shop there was a counter with food and things to put in your drinks such as milk, sugar, chocolate, etc and the colors and how the food was displayed and served was appealing to my eyes. Behind that counter there was a long table with different electronic devices plugged into the wall. On the middle of the those there is a fridge just for ice and when I turned to the other side and I noticed a big menu on the wall. Further more into the shop, there was an area filled with tables, chairs, and sofas. The tables were in different shapes, one was round and the others rectangular, also there was four bamboo baskets and I looked around and noticed that the walls in that area were decorated with paintings.
TRIPS
Most of my trips were early in the morning before classes or in the afternoon after classes, depending of my schedule.

The same people who were at the sofa area were there. Expect the people who were getting coffee were different and not the same which it made it interesting to me. The employees working at that time were the same too, one thing that changed was the menu, it was in different fonts and colors with new drinks for the fall. Around 10am, the same people were coming in with their heavy book bags and
My personal insight of the operations is that Carmine’s located in the Theater District is great place to eat and work. They are making way more money than they are spending, they have managers that are knowledgeable and know how to control cost. Carmine’s is an overall successful business and is an ideal place of employment due to the fact that you can always move up in the company. I really enjoyed writing this paper because I work here and gave me a better insight and opinion of the establishment. The food is great and the people I work alongside are even better, we host some of the funniest and great people from around the world as our guest.
Fish’s depiction of the process of buying a coffee now is an unfair stereotype, as not everyone has experienced what he describes. For example Fish states, “if you are patient and stay in line (no bathroom breaks), you get to put in your order,” (Fish). The bathroom comment was quite unnecessary because nobody gets bathroom breaks for long lines. This quote by Fish was illogical for his argument. Fish continues, stating that when one receives a coffee, the “real problem” is how the coffee accessories are placed. There are too many of them, Fish believes, and the order is random. This is not true for most coffee shops. Typically in coffee shops, the dairy is together, the sugars are neatly piled, the straws and napkins are stacked tidily. Of course, there are coffee shops now that are how Fish described. However, he only describes a percentage of coffee shops, not all of them. Fish should have made that clear in his argument. To continue, Fish writes about people fighting over the accessories and balancing coffee in one hand. This comment is almost theatrical in its description. The scene Fish depicts is rarely seen at coffee shops. Fish’s argument does not represent a realistic representation of all coffee shops. Fish does not state this, therefore being unreliable in his
When walking into the lobby, one will be greeted with a smile and be treated like family. They have a lovely dining room, filled with old family photos, which creates a real homey feel. In the center of the dining room is a grand family table. It’s great for family seating or a big event. When taking young children to a restaurant, many customers have difficulties having children happy or calm. At Carrabba’s children can expect to be entertained by receiving the “Bambini menu” (kid’s menu) and pizza dough to play with. Customers also have an option to sit front seat at the kitchen counter, where they can interact and watch the chef create the delicious meals. Patrons can also chose to sit at the bar with availability to television screens or have a more private setting. The kitchen also omits wonderful smells, making one think that they’re back at their mother’s house for dinner. The ambience of Carrabba’s can create a home away from home feeling, that will surly make one feel homesick when they haven’t visited
Another observation that I made about the customers was that most of them seemed to be dressed in professional business attire most likely stopping for coffee before work. Women were mostly wearing work appropriate dresses or suits and most Men were wearing Suits or button downs and dress pants. I stayed at the Starbucks for about an hour and a half and saw only a handful of people in casual clothing. The morning was the most unique time that I observed,it being vastly different from both the mid-day and
Inside the coffee shop, a great deal of thought has been put into spatial distribution. The space is small, but every square centimeter is utilized for sitting, ordering and preparing and displaying food. The floor plan allows customers to move in a structured way to order and then sit down or leave. The floor plan is similar to a continuous circular flow of costumers, that starts when you walk in the door and ends when you leave. Like an assembly line, this suggests that Canadian culture is very rigid and structured. The sitting area consists of small tables that let only three people sit comfortably at one time. The sitting chairs are upright with a hard surface; they're not comfortable and relaxing in the least bit. Upbeat easy rock music plays in the background, this music is very safe in that all ages can identify and accept it while still loud enough to not hear the noisy kitchen in the back. Bright lights, along with the chairs, tables and music create an atmosphere and mood that does not allow people to get too comfortable.
It was a Wednesday, and despite it being midday when most people would be in their offices, the market resembled a Sunday carnival. When I reached the top, a little sign welcomed me with information and a map of the market. Trying to be smart about my strategy, I took the elevator all the way to the top floor so I could walk down each floor missing nothing.

The ethnographic study took place at McDonalds’ shop, Leeds, local market in the afternoon of Monday, 17th January 2011. From away I could observe the huge logo of McDonalds. I stood at the entrance and stared at the shop for few seconds. The shop was far more elegant than the average McDonald’s. The interior has a minimal style with posh chairs, tables, black art deco fixtures, beautiful paintings and attractive lights and draperies. There were large windows so it was impossible for customers to see into the Harvey Nichols store. Also, outside were window boxed filled with flowers or greenery. I could hear some relaxing music. At first glance, I noticed that customers were people with different age groups, genders, ethnic classes, social classes and cultural backgrounds. The language which was more spoken was English. [Without thinking, I was moving towards the counter, I faced] the girl behind the counter [; she] was wearing a red t-shirt with a cap and a hut. She seemed to be in a rush to handle the orders. Despite that, she was friendly and with a smile on the face to welcome the customers. The most co...
The larger serving size of Great Cups of Coffee is perhaps the most apparent gage that will improve appeal for the company’s customers. Receiving extra of a proportionately quality product for a comparable price obviously works as an enticement for customers to prefer Great Cups more than the opposition. While customers identify with a better quality and superior taste with fresher coffee, Great Cups supports its effective model of serving coffee that has been roasted no more 72 hours ago and that is blended and ground right at the store. Great Cups also provides as an unintended marketing method community bulletin boards and assists with book club gatherings as well as
Sitting in Korouva on a Sunday night is an almost awkward experience for me as I am the only “customer” in there with the barista and her friend. But the jazz music is good and my almond milk/pumpkin spice latte is tasty. Every wall in the tiny building is covered in art. Korouva Milk Bar on 2005 Maple Street is a unique space for students to come drink coffee, tea, milkshakes, and creatively named smoothies. It is not a place where I would take my mother. After having been in Korouva during various times in my first semester at Southwestern, I decided to write my ethnography with the aim of figuring out just who Korouva is for. So I spent several more days there over the course of a week to see who walked through the door, or rather, one of two doors. The front door, facing the street, features princess Leia smoking a cigarette saying “be like me, don’t buy ExxonMobil” and “Come back soon… or
I have decided to give the Art Gallery in the F building a chance. The title of the artwork is called, Still Table, by Julie Lemon. This is a very interesting gallery. Also, I thought it was very mysterious and unusual. Every image had a story behind it. They were all colorful and were made of different shapes and materials. Obviously, the artist had a vision of how her gallery was going to turn out. She wanted to spread her vision in more than one image and she succeeded. Some people were may be confused about her results, but others were very satisfied. When I look at her images, I see tables filled with colorful objects that are combined together to create a story of some sort. Although, the images had no visible
The moment I stepped into El Milagro’s first door I saw a beautiful mural of a man, on the wall. The murals purpose was to display a man, who is wearing a white shirt and black jacket, riding a horse. There was also a woman in the mural, glancing at the man, with her finger in her mouth, as if she was admiring him (image shown on the page above on the right). Once inside of the restaurant I saw the bright colors, of the walls, such as the pink and yellow color pattern laid out around the dining facility - the ceiling and wall decorations gave the place a spacious atmosphere, along with the tables were set up in a way stretching from one end to the other end of the restaurant, in a way in which it contributed to the spacious atmosphere given the decorations on both the walls and the ceiling (as can be seen on the bottom left). After being greeted by one of the many staff members who helped me as I prepared to dine on a Mexican cuisines. The food was hot and freshly prepared, all that was left was to be placed onto a plate. Once served on the plate I ate in the back where many people were conversing as well as enjoying their food. Throughout the restaurant all you can smell was the fresh meat being prepared while people were asking each other to pass the sauces. After grabbing my first bite of the rice, I felt at ease, due to the rice being very

My research location is one of the most popular coffee shop in the city which is Starbucks that located at California and Sprues street in San Francisco. I am interested in this topics because it controls my attention to keep watch what others are doing and what is going on near me. This topic has a potential sociological significant because coffee shop is one of the most popular places that many people want to go. Starbucks is a famous coffee shop in the United States that has many customers. The, majority of customers were students who carrying bags, holding lap tops and books as well as a big number of Sutter Health Hospital employees who wear their uniforms and looking in their break time. Also there were a group of police officers who
Caf? Expresso, as the first mover in the coffeehouse marketplace, which has expanded quickly and become one of the ?big three? players in the global coffee shops chain. However, recently this company is continuously facing a lot of problems in terms of its staff, easy-copied business model and product range, resulting this company lost its leading position to the number three. Therefore, its adjusted visionary goal is ?return Caf? Expresso to the number one position in the marketplace? (Beardwell, 2010). To achieve this goal, Caf? Expresso identifies ?the coffee drinking experience? is significant to achieve competitive advantage and customer value-added, which was delivered through three key elements (graph 1),
