The earth is huge with all different kinds of everyday heroes. These heroes are all doing different things to help others all over the world. My Michigan hero helps me through stuff and always believes in me. She always helps me up when I'm down. She never gives up on me and always tells me that I can do stuff, even when I'm doubting myself. She walks me through tough times and convinces me to stay strong. My hero is my amazing and wonderful mother.
My mom is definitely my Michigan hero because she helps me through stuff and always believes in me. For example, when I thought about quitting band my mom convinced me to tough it out and stick with it. I used to play trumpet and I didn't really like it so I decided to switch instruments. My next
choice was percussion. I was supposed to practice this new book Mr. K gave me that had all the basics about percussion. I didn't practice at all. When school finally came around I was so upset and nervous. I thought I wasn't going to be able to play because I didn't practice at all over the summer. On the first day of school, I had my mom email Mr. K and ask if I could switch back to trumpet because I didn't practice. He said I should stick with percussion for the first trimester and if I still didn't like it I could switch back to trumpet. I was so nervous but my mom told me that I could do it and that if I really wanted to play percussion, I shouldn't give up. I'm so happy she convinced me to stick with band I have so much fun everyday and I love percussion. Another example is when I wanted to quit swimming. I absolutely love swimming so I decided to do the O.J swim and dive team. A couple months into swimming and diving I wanted to give up and quit because I was exhausted and I didn't really like the coaches at the time. My mom told me I couldn't quit. She told me to at least finish the season and if I still wanted to quit, she wouldn't make me stay in swimming and diving. So I toughed it out and stuck with it. The end of swimming came and I was so upset it was over. My mom knew I wasn't going to quit, she just knew I needed the encouragement to stay with it. I thought about quitting swimming in sixth grade I am now in eighth and I can't wait for the new season to start. My mom has helped me in so many ways. She's convinced me to stick with so many things that I now love to do and I plan on doing all the way through high school. I consider myself lucky to have a mom like her. We have such good times together and such a good relationship and I know I can tell her anything. If anything is ever going on in my life and I just need to get it out I know I can tell her and I know I can trust her not to tell anyone. She has inspired me to do so many wonderful things in life. Because of her I absolutely love to draw. I love her so much and I can't imagine what my life would be like without her.
Michigan is the only state in the union composed to two separated peninsulas. At the closest point, the upper and lower peninsulas are a mere five miles apart. In the early twentieth century, the only way to make the trip across the five miles of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron was to take a boat ride from one side to the other. As businesses expanded and industry grew, the demand to cross the lakes for travel and commerce purposes grew. The only way to cross the lake was by means of a ferry service, which was unable to keep up with consumer demand. Michigan residents were unable to get convenient and frequent transport between the peninsulas. They needed a consistent, fast, and safe way to travel freely from the mainland to the upper-peninsula. In response, the construction of a five-mile-long suspension bridge to link the peninsulas was set into action. The construction of the Mackinac Bridge was greatly significant to the national economy, the field of engineering, the efficiency of travel, and the historic symbolism of the state of Michigan.
Oklahoma is located in the south central United States. Oklahoma is placed in the south, but is partially in the Great Plains by definitions of hypothetical geographical-culture regions. Oklahoma is the 20th most expanded state and also the 28th most populous out of the total 50 states in the United States. Residents living in Oklahoma are often referred to as “Oklahomans” or “okies”. A major part of Oklahoma is its capital city Oklahoma City, which is where I was born and raised. Much of the western land of Oklahoma was part of the "unassigned land" including present day Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City is Oklahoma’s largest city in the state. Oklahoma has a big population and is currently 29th among United States cities in population. A 2012 census shows the population count of Oklahoma City is 599,199 residents. Oklahoma City is ranked as the 8th largest city in the United States by its land area. Oklahoma City is also the second-largest city in the United States by land area whose government is not stabilized. Throughout my paper I will discuss and give information about Oklahoma’s history, climate, economy, and government.
My Personal Michigan hero,Luis Andalon, works hard and never stopped working hard, which inspires me to be great. My hero overcame coming from a big and a poorer family, always worked hard and never stopped. A hero is a person who inspires you and cares about you, like my hero does. My hero doesn’t have any real superpowers, but it feels like he
Michigan was important to the Underground Railroad because there were many routes and stops in Michigan, Michigan had many conductors and activists, and Detroit was close to Canada. There were many stops and routes in Michigan. Some of the cities that has stops were Detroit, Trenton, Ann Arbor, and Battle Creek. The 2nd Baptist Church was a rest stop for the slaves. The church still exists today. Since Michigan has the Great Lakes, there were water routes in Michigan. The water route went through Lake Michigan. Michigan also had many conductors and activists that worked the Underground Railroad. Mr. Goodell lived in the city of Adrian. He hid slaved in covered wagons on his farm. His family didn’t even know about it. Detroit had many free blacks
A hero is someone you look up to, someone who has done something to inspire you, someone who is your role model. In our society, there are many different types of heroes—family, friends, teachers, firefighters, and police officers to name a few. But a hero that stands out to me is a U.S. soldier. Soldiers risk their lives every day just so we can have our freedom.
Hockey. A sport I have always loved ever since I was a kid. It was when my dad had taken me to an open ice skate when my hockey life began. I had my first pair of skates as a present when I was four years old. I never really knew of the sport at the time, but now I was able to expirence it. No one was present on the ice as I entered the rink. The cold of the ice ran down my back as I took my first steps on. The cold didn’t stop me though. As I stepped upon the ice, I had a feeling of relief. Hockey is what let me go fast. Always have I been the fastest kid in my class and hockey let me expand on what I loved to do. One stride at a time I went, until I was able to glide upon the ice. My blades of my skates sunk into the ice like a lion tearing at its prey. As the frost beat against my face, I soon realized that I was able to skate. Even though it was all fuzzy in my memory, I remember feeling all types of joy rush all throughout my body. It was the first sign of potential in hockey. It was a first omen.
So what exactly is a hero? Parents are true heroes. Most parental units sacrifice time, money, love and everything else for their children. When times are tough good parents do all they can to make things better for their children. Mothers and fathers often work two jobs, late at night, or on weekends to provide for their kids. My mom is always there for me when I am sick, telling me she wishes she were the sick one. She also reassures me that she always has an extra kidney if I happen to need one. I personally view my parents as true heroes for all they do, have done, and will do.
My mother is my hero because she has taught me to treat others with compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity. She taught me that those values were important in the best way, by living her own life according to them. She didn’t just tell me about values she felt were important, she lived by them. I have always admired my mother and felt so blessed to have her in my life. I know I am a better person for having her for a mother.
When one thinks of heroes, names such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King, and Mother Theresa often come to mind. These people had done a lot of favors, courage, helps, and more of things for the people who needed them. They have change the world. But, heroes can be in anyway, even in each of individuals in the world. I have the persons who I think is the best hero in my mind. They are my parents.
When asked who their hero is, most people respond with the name of an athlete or an actress/actor. When asked who my hero is I would have to respond with a simple three letter word: mom. My mother has been the greatest inspiration in my life and is the main reason that I am where I am and who I am today.
Have you ever wondered why your best friend is actually your best friend? Is it just because you have known them all of your life? Or is it simply because you just like to hang out with them? My best friend is as unique as they come. I have watched and admired his way of life over the past eight years. My friends' name is Mike Linn. Mike and I met in the sixth grade. He immediately stood out to me. There was just something about him that caught my eye. He had short messy brown hair as if he had just rolled out of bed and he was wearing a yellow Nautica t-shirt that glared at you as if you were looking directly into the sun. He had on a pair of cream colored cargo shorts and a pair of sneakers from Wal-Mart. He was the typical sixth grader everyone could imagine. From that moment on we have had many great and memorable times.
My mother is the strongest woman I know, no matter what the situation is she always has held her head high. My mother has instilled in me that no matter what the situation is a can get through whatever is thrown my way. This has helped me more in my adult life than it did in my childhood because as a child I did not fully understand certain things that I understand now.
My mom cause she would spank me every time I got in trouble doing dumb things. She would always care for me and didn’t let me get too crazy. She would always make me come to school because she thinks having an education is the most important thing so I thank showed me how to take care of myself.
Everyone has had accomplishments in their life, and behind those accomplishments is someone who has had an impact on their life. My mother is my greatest influence for several reasons. She supports me, and the decisions I make, showed me that success comes from hard work, she inspires me and taught me to always believe in myself.
My hero is my dad. He is my superman. He is my leader. My dad is a dad who motivates me and keeps me going, even when I want to give up. He is there for me when I don’t want to try anymore and he always keeps me going. Of all the heroes in the world, my dad is at the top of the list.
