He is the baby boy of six kids and was born in Salinas, California then moved to Gonzales, California. Luis Andalon, my dad inspires me to work hard and never stop working hard no matter what. having to work a lot when my dad woke up to go to school his parents were at work and the same when he got back from school. Luis was always told that school came first. Through hard work and dedication to his school work he applied and got accepted to many colleges. Luis Andalon went to and graduated from the University of Notre Dame, becoming the first person in his family to graduate college.
Since my hero had put school first he was able to come Notre Dame and be successful. He wanted to have an easier job than his parents did and to be able to be with his kids more than his parents were with him. Specifically why he was successful was because he worked hard and didn’t get satisfied with his past accomplishments. This explains why he would work forty jobs if he had to take care of his family. My dad would run through a wall to support our family. When the mortgage has been paid and we don’t have much money he works over time to make sure we are taken care of. He has told me that he would take up awful jobs to care for us. He lets the family eat first, then him to make sure we get enough to eat. My father, Luis Andalon is a great man that our family is very proud of. My Personal Michigan hero,Luis Andalon, works hard and never stopped working hard, which inspires me to be great. My hero overcame coming from a big and a poorer family, always worked hard and never stopped. A hero is a person who inspires you and cares about you, like my hero does. My hero doesn’t have any real superpowers, but it feels like he
does.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
In order for me to better explain what I believe to be a hero, I want to describe the hero in my life; my Father. My dad is an exceptional man, not only has he been in the United States Marine Corps for 24 years and counting, going on numerous tours overseas, he is a student pursuing his Master’s degree. He is a basketball or baseball coach depending on what sport my siblings and I are currently in to, he is a math or English
A hero is a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. John Barth, an American novelist, once wrote, “Everyone is necessarily the hero of its own life story” (FamousQuotes.com). Julia Child was her own hero, she is now a legacy in the culinary industry, she not only inspired America to begin cooking French food, but she also became a role model to housewives and working women alike.
According to google.com a hero is someone who “is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievments, or noble equalities.” (google.com). For example, superman , superman is an all time american classic modern hero who is admired for his courage and for saving earth multiple times from super villains. Another example of a hero is Beowulf. Beowulf was created around 1000 AD and was known far and wide throughout the lands for his selflessness, bravery, and courage .
There are many different ways people use to define heroes. Sometimes when we think of heroes, we think of super powers, strong people or someone brave and courageous. There are also a lot of heroes. When I think of a hero, I think of Harriet Tubman. Being born a slave herself, she knew the terrible lifestyle that they lived. Imagine her constant fear as she overcame her obstacles to help bring freedom to her fellow slaves.
A hero is someone you look up to, someone who has done something to inspire you, someone who is your role model. In our society, there are many different types of heroes—family, friends, teachers, firefighters, and police officers to name a few. But a hero that stands out to me is a U.S. soldier. Soldiers risk their lives every day just so we can have our freedom.
Some Michigan Heroes can be people that helped you in life or helped you succeed in life. My Michigan Hero is someone that raised me, taught me everything I know in life today. This person is my idol, that gave me a hand when I needed one, or told me to keep my head up and never look down. I wouldn’t know what to do in life if this person wasn’t in it.
A hero could be anyone. A hero could be an ordinary person who has impacted someone or has inspired a change toward greatness in their life. A hero can be passive or active, famous or ordinary, rich or poor. What gives a hero a distinct similarities to other heroes and distinguish them from non heroes is their ability to influence others that they are extraordinary because of their means to overcome obstacles, defeated adversities, and still manage to be a leader, role model, or an admirable person within society.
My dad isn’t someone “famous” in Michigan history or someone who did something others may see as heroic, but he is MY Michigan Hero. He was born on August 5th, 1966 in Jackson, Michigan and is the youngest of four children. Both of his parents worked hard in order to provide for their children as they faced the struggles of the time with a large family to support. From a young age, he learned that a good work ethic was important to have. Andy Kershaw, my father, has always had the drive and passion to succeed. He always encourages me to succeed and become as good a worker and someday, a husband and father, as he is.
My father was a hard working man since he was born. As a teen he was foolish and didn't listen to his father, and barley finished high school. He became a agricultural worker on my grandfathers
A hero is a courageous and heroic person. They help others and do lots of crazy things.A hero is not based on what they work for, it's what they do to be a hero. Many heros do many things, but only certain people can be a hero. My dad is a police officer and I’ve seen the incredible things that happen, but what makes a hero is his traits. A hero is a passionate person who is brave, willing to risk their life, and be helpful. My number one hero lives in my house.
My dad is one of a kind, He is fairly tall, and he has brown hair with specks of grey, with green eyes that hide behind his glasses. He was what I like to make fun of him for and say a ‘pregnant belly.’ You can always find him in his million cameo shorts, T-shirts and reef flip flops. He is full of stories, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard them all a couple hundred times. My dad is the best dad there is, I know people say that a lot, but honestly, I don’t believe there is one better than mine. This man has sacrificed so much of his life to make sure my sisters and I had the best life
A hero isn’t always about the super powers and magic. A hero may have their adventures and big impacts on their lives, but a hero to me is a person who accepts the change even if it’s hard on them. This person realizes that nothing will ever be the same anymore. Their life has changed completely. The person I call a hero is my dad. He goes out of his way to give me everything I need to survive. I call my father a hero because he accepts me for who I am and accepts the changes that I have met through my teen years when no one else would. When times are tough, he finds a way to avoid the negatives and always thinks positive. Even though life is very difficult, and life is hard at times, he still manages to succeed in keeping me alive. I could not ask nothing better because my father has been here for me since day one and always will. When there’s no one to talk to, he’s there to listen to. My dad is my hero because he looks out for me and cares for me. My dad has been through so much with me and still manages stay by my side.Others may consider a super-hero being a hero because of their flying, or mind controlling powers, but think about how hard it would be without having super-hero...
My hero may just look like a normal person you see but many people do not realize that this woman puts a huge impact on my life. She may be a foot shorter than me but her heart is huge. My mom is a strong, courageous, and a positive woman. She may not be a firefighter, soldier or even a famous but she sure has the characteristics of a hero in my definition.
