My Journey to become a Teacher
Dear New Roommate, It is hard for me to describe myself to you in simple words. I can tell you that I am an energetic and compassionate person, but what does that tell you? I would rather show you who I am by telling you what my hopes and dreams are, what the driving force in my life is, and this will lead you to understand who I really am, as a person. Only when you get to know these things about me is when you really start to understand what type of person I really am, not just the fact that I am a blond twenty-two-year-old that wants to be a teacher. To make the difference in the lives of children is such an important goal to me. I remember when I was in elementary school, I adored my teachers, they were the world to me. I always felt special and successful because of the love, support and knowledge that my elementary teachers gave to me. I long to give back to children what I was so lucky to receive from my teachers as a child. This has been a major factor in my strive to become an elementary school teacher. By giving children the love, support and education they need, they have a greater chance of living a solid, stable and productive life. What is most important to remember is that children are our future. My journey to become a teacher started as early as Junior High. I started baby-sitting the children in my neighborhood when I was in seventh grade. I loved spending time with children, and by the time I was in high-school, I had many permanent baby-sitting jobs throughout Ojai, the small town we live in. Even when I moved away to San Luis Obispo, to go to college, I never gave up caring for children. I quickly found a nanny job watching two young girls while I was in San Luis Obispo, which I kept for two years. Although these were only small side jobs, they meant much more. I spent hours outside of work going to school plays, soccer games, and dance recitals of the various children that I baby-sat. The real motivation to become a teacher came to me when I started working at a Christian preschool and daycare when I moved back to Ojai.
Many individuals, teachers or not, only do what they are asked or expected to do. However, going above and beyond and being able to have greater influence on a child’s life is my goal. I know I will love my job and in this position, children and families will be going through difficult and not normative life events. It is essential to extend further assistance to make each individual feel important. Being someone who can help families understand and make their lives a little bit easier by providing support and encouraging optimal development, I can hopefully make a meaningful impact on a child and/or family. The child and family satisfaction would bring happiness in itself and be worth more than
...with that, I want to be considered their favorite elementary teacher, or at least one they remember fondly. I still remember my 1st/2nd grade teacher, Miss Dalberg. She was the one that planted the idea of becoming a teacher into my head. Back then, I wanted to be a teacher because it simply looked fun. Decorating the classroom, grading papers and getting candy from every student on every holiday did it for me. I was going to become a teacher! Of course, that delirious point of view was from an eight-year-old perspective and eventually wore off. Miss Dalberg was my favorite teacher of elementary school. At the very least she made learning fun and instilled in me the interest to be a teacher.
...ve the patience and responsibility that is required when taking care of other people’s children and making sure that they leave in one piece day after day. Elementary school teachers aren’t given nearly as much credit as they deserve because they do have a lot on their plate. Middle school and high school teachers do have a lot more work to grade and in greater detail, but they also teach students that are capable of taking care of themselves whereas students in elementary school are not and need to be guided and taught in a way that will launch them on a good path when leaving elementary school. I want to be the one who creates curriculums, gives them time to play, organizes fun activities, and teaches reading and writing basics to the new generations. Being an elementary school teacher is not just a job, it is a duty, responsibility, and in my eyes, a luxury.
...and very impressionistic, but they easily become bored and discouraged. By integrating exciting lesson plans and activities into the curriculum, I will show all of my students how much fun learning can be. Teachers are bright, charismatic, friendly, honest, organized, polite, caring, involved, reinforcing, well spoken, encouraging, firm, reliable, intelligent, and understanding people. These characteristics describe the kind of teacher that I will be. I want nothing more in the world, but to see a child achieve beyond their set limits and expectations. They are precious gifts that need care and understanding. So many people come in and out of our lives, but teachers are the ones that leave a everlasting impression and mold the future of our society.
A. What factors influenced me to become a teacher? This may truly shock some. I did not choose teaching. It chose me. By the end of each school year, I teeter on the thought of throwing in the towel. I mean, does it really make a difference, what I do? Can I do it again?
There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
As an education major at State College, I’ve decided to become a teacher for several reasons. As I progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, many of my teachers were great role models for me. This has inspired me to become a role model for someone in the near future. My love for science and math has also influenced my desire to teach and make a difference in a child’s life. I want to teach students the subjects that I love so much. I want the feeling that I helped a child accomplish or learn something they couldn’t understand. One of the main reasons I want to become an educator is because I feel education has really lost teachers who truly love teaching and those who truly love teaching and those who have the desire to make a difference. I feel I can really help make a difference in the education world and bring back the love to teach.
It’s funny how quickly time flies by it seems like just yesterday I was complaining about writing the first part of this assignment. Looking back at it now, the reasons why I want to become a teacher remain the same. I want to inspire, shape, encourage, and mentor my students. I want to make the kind of impact on each and every single one of them that they will carry on for the rest of their lives. Whether it be simply believing in them, and telling them that I know they are capable of accomplishing anything they want to, or helping them through a tough time. My desire to become a teacher has increased tremendously the past 16 weeks, and I am so eager and excited to finish my education to begin my teaching career.
To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
“I wanted to become a teacher to be able to make a positive difference on the future of children. For me, it is fulfilling challenge, stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners. I have always been grateful to my mom (who is a retired teacher) for implanting values in me. I feel I should contribute what I have learned and experienced over the years. This way I will be paying back and at the same time can fulfill my desire of enhancing the education system.”
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
Develop teaching expertise is the part of proposition from NBPTS, specifically knowing the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students (1987). One of the methods is continue to pursue their professional development by joining a professional association or organization, attending a workshop, and reading a professional journal, website, or books. These ideas enhance teachers’ cognitive growth by enlarge information of the latest strategies or method, enhance cognitive growth, and learning to help the teachers to become expert in their teaching and influence on student learning.
...her. I think I would be a good teacher at any level because I feel I have a very analytical mind and I like to figure out how people think and get the best out of them. I enjoy when teachers make learning fun and I know I can be an affective teacher while making learning fun for all students. I must admit the summer off is very appealing although I know teachers put in many after hours during the school year. I feel I can be a positive influence to the students that come into my classroom. One of my most memorable times in my school life was when I was in Mrs. Husted’s class. I didn’t do any homework, didn’t make good grades, and wasn’t very well behaved in her class. Despite all the challenges, I through her way she always helped me and encouraged me and made me do the work I was responsible for. That’s why I want to be a teacher to help students that were like me.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
...ove the times when she said that I helped her understand a certain concept. Those moments are what I live for, and they are priceless to me. I hope that I can continue to provide that satisfaction of learning to my future students and experience the pride and joy that the students will feel when the material finally clicks. Becoming a teacher would be a dream come true for me, and I hope that I can have the opportunity to purse this dream during my lifetime. I hope that with hard work this dream can become a reality. In essence, I want to pursue this career more than anything because I really want to inspire and shape the future generation. I know that they have what it takes to make a difference in the world, but they need teachers who can point them in the right direction. Every teacher has that capability, and that is why I want to pursue this amazing profession.
