My Influential Experience Which Motivates My Goals at CCU
Graduating class of 2001 from Aurora Central High School with a Certified Nurse
Assistant (CNA) certificate. I have always wanted to be in the healthcare field since I was six years old. I was given the opportunity to help with the special needs kids in school. High school motivated the start of my career goal of becoming a registered nurse (RN). Aurora Central High
School allowed students to attend T.H. Pickens Technical School while pursuing a high school diploma, in order to develop an early start and skills for future career goals.
After high school, I attempted to go to college to pursue my ultimate goal of becoming a
RN. Due to not understanding the student loan process and only

My adult life is going by so fast my husband and I started having children immediately and we now have seven, which they are my greatest motivation. Juggling parenthood and my employment I have mastered. Knowing that I will be involved in both for a long time, school will enhance my motivation toward reaching my career goals.
Over a half a century ago my maternal grandmother became a registered nurse and raised seven children of her own. Knowing that she did this without the modern conveniences we have today inspires me even more. This also informs me that nursing is in my bloodline, which makes it feel natural to me.
With the major accomplishments I’ve made with raising a family thus far and career goals I’ve already completed, I feel I am ready for the next plateau. My support system of my husband, parents and children are a true motivation to finish my goals as a RN.

Choosing Colorado Christian University will help me to stay in the will of God while pursuing my degree. My relationship with God is of the upmost importance to me. God knows my heart is set on helping those who cannot help themselves in health and in education.
My family is my motivation and I am determined to succeed and be successful for myself and for them and have a better life for us and have a strong foundation to where they don’t half to worry.
Another person who has influenced me to become a nurse is my best friend’s mom who is the Senior VP of Nursing at Clara
Growing up, I have always wanted to be a part of the healthcare field, but I never knew exactly what job I wanted to take part in, until I discovered how broad a nurse’s specialty could be. A Registered Nurse can work in any age group or focus on a certain system of the body. My mother works in the health field as a medical transcriptionist. I became interested in the health field by her many stories she shared with me while she worked in the hospital. She taught me a lot of different things. My family history inspired me as well to join the medical field. My grandma and great grandma both suffered from breast cancer and my grandpa suffered from throat cancer. Becoming a Registered Nurse has been my dream for as long as I can remember. This dream became real to me when my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in her life. I now have what drives me to be a Registered Nurse and to learn more about the career itself so I can help people out live all the odds against them.
My initial interest in nursing arose from a book, in early high school. My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult is about a teenage girl, Kate, suffering a life-long battle of leukemia...
When I began this journey I knew that Nursing was all I wanted to do and in order to succeed and do well in nursing school, it was going to require a ton of devotion and sacrifice. Nursing school did not come without its challenges, not only did we have to deal with going to class, clinicals, studying for exams, but we also had to add in the factors of jobs, family, marriages, children, sickness and our daily life. But our instructors encouraged us and pushed us to keep going, and for that we are grateful because we all made a decision to stick with it, and here we are today. It seems unimaginable that just a year ago this journey was just beginning, but here we are today a year later,
goal began as I watched my grandmother serve others. I accompanied her when she visited nursing
My life and my laundry pile are both out of control but I love how far Ive become. Parenting and running a household alone is hard, and then you add working and school to that and in some cases being the only financial provider, and it equals exhaustion.
I have been a licensed practical nurse for about 19 years and becoming a registered nurse has always been a plan for my future. Having to raise a family at a young age prevented me from continuing my education right away. My family is now more self-sufficient and I’m able to attend school and further my nursing journey and education.
As previously mentioned, becoming a nurse has always been a goal of mine. Throughout high school, I got the opportunity to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do in the medical field by taking nursing classes and participating in clinical rotations. I received my CNA license at the end of the course and through learning many beneficial life skills and nursing techniques, I realized during that time I wanted to go beyond CNA work, and that the nursing field was where God was leading me. Everyone defines success differently. To some people, success could be the simplest task being completed, or a major life goal being achieved. To me however, success is when I reach the goal I or others have set before me. Anything that involves my future career or potential in the medical field drives me to meet nothing but
Whether planned or unplanned, change can cause disruption to one’s stable environment if not handled in the correct way (McGarry, Cashin, & Fowler, 2012). Having children was a positive planned change for me. The decision has greatly improved my well-being and outlook on life. My thought process was changed the instant I held my first child. From that point on, every decision I make is centered on how it will affect them. Motherhood has opened my eyes to the realization that change occurs every day and there is no halting the process. As I watch my children grow, I emotionally embrace each unforeseen moment that comes with it.
of my current career goals as of right now. My current goal is to become some type of mental
There have been many influential people and events that have come into my life for the better, and changed me completely as a person. However, one experience that I believe was a turning point and a great influence in my life was when I changed schools in the third grade. Going to a new school with friendly people and a wide range of opportunities allowed me to become more confident in myself and in turn changed my life for the better. At the first school I attended, I was very shy and unsure of myself.
...tensive care unit nurses entered the room one last time. Even in the worst moments, they gave support to my family. The nurses embraced us all, giving us their condolences. Their jobs are hard and taxing. Even on days where they don’t want to come to work, they provide countless hours of help and empathy to people they don’t even know. To practice such humanity would be a honor. My grandma was a maternity and delivery nurse at Riverview Medical Center for almost her entire career. She brought me there, to the intensive care unit for a purpose. Watching the nurses work each day inspired to me further my decision of studying nursing by showing me what area of nursing I want. As a result of my grandmas intensive care stay, I will be earning my bachelors in science of nursing at Gannon University to become a registered nurse. One day, I will be a Jamie to many families.
Influence is one of the greatest effects people have on us that defines who we are as we grow and learn. Influence is aroused by people media and advertisements. The largest influence in my life has been my very own family. While not all of the effects of their influence were derived from good they shaped me into who I am today. They have instilled within me traits of financial responsibility, confidence, and the courage to fail.
Today my mom is still working as a RN. Although she just quit her job at Berea Hospital, where she had been for 4 years, she is beginning a new style of nursing.
