When I was 7, my family took a trip to Mexico. I was told that my grandfather had bought another horse that was tamer than the rest, and I was very excited about the news. As I cautiously asked my mom if we could go to the farm, she was uncertain of our safety but ended up saying yes, if we had supervision because she would be busy there. I was already imagining myself riding on the horse majestically and jumping in the breezy air (like on tv). All my siblings and cousins had that exact same confident and awe-striking thought.
As soon as I saw this beautiful creature, I fell in love, it was very tall and disciplined, well for a while. It has a brown coat with a beautiful black mane. When I saw Brownie, I heard my mom tell my uncle if he could teach us, but he had to gather and sell cattle so it wasn’t possible. My mom made time and gradually taught us step by step, but of course I didn't understand ANYTHING, ERRRRRR! As soon as I mounted Brownie, I dramatically let out a cry and

My sister gave me a thin rope, now that I know a little more than usual this was the most amusing thing I had ever done. I could see all my family members with a wide open mouth looking at me, I started to think this was a fantastic experience. When I got off, we left back home to go buy some drinks and snacks, then we immediately came back to the farm and I started putting back the saddle since my uncle had previously removed it. Some of my cousins really wanted to get on but my other cousin, Kiara didn’t and she told me “ I don’t know how to ride it”. I had never noticed she was the only one not riding, so it shocked me to see how dreamy it was thinking about riding a horse. I smiled back at her and told her I'll teach her, so I got the other horse and showed her all the steps before riding it and she looked very excited when doing this. Before you knew it, she was walking the horse, this all happened in a blink of an
Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero’s journey. This concept allows for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero’s journey is thoroughly understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero’s journey follows a simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her quest. Finally, the hero will fulfill the prophecy and find his/herself, realizing his/her full potential. This rubric may be easy to spot in epic action films, but if upon close inspection is found in a wide array of genres, some of which are fully surprising.
There are many stories that follow Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey, and tells the tale of a Heroic character. These fables introduces us to heroes that begin their journey in an ordinary place, then receive a call to enter an unknown world full of bizarre powers and peculiar events. These heroes often display great traits, such as bravery or intelligence, that defines their character. One of these heroic's tales is Haroun and the Sea of Stories, telling the adventures of a young man named Haroun. This essay will prove that Haroun from Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie is a hero, because he possess heroic qualities. Haroun shows his heroic qualities by overcoming obstacles, helping his friends, and having good intentions.
“The journey of the hero is about the courage to seek the depths; the image of creative rebirth; the eternal cycle of change within us; the uncanny discovery that the seeker is the mystery which the seeker seeks to know. The hero journey is a symbol that binds, in the original sense of the word, two distant ideas, and the spiritual quest of the ancients with the modern search for identity always the one, shape-shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find.” (Phil Cousineau) The Hero's Journey has been engaged in stories for an immemorial amount of time. These stories target typical connections that help us relate to ourselves as well as the “real world”.
Joseph Campbell defines a hero as “someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself ” (Moyers 1). The Hero’s Journey consists of three major parts: the separation, the initiation and the return. Throughout a character’s journey, they must complete a physical or spiritual deed. A physical deed involves performing a daunting and courageous act that preserves the well-being of another person. A spiritual deed calls for action that improves another individual’s state of mind. While fulfilling their journey, a hero must undergo a psychological change that involves experiencing a transformation from immaturity into independence and sophistication.Campbell states that these events are what ultimately guides a hero into completing

December 2016 – We wish you all a very joyous Holiday season!! THE WALTHER family has been blessed watching life unfold in so many exciting ways right before our eyes! The days fly quicker, boys grow and mature more at every turn, their classes are more challenging to understand, and we are excited for what the future holds for all of us. But in hindsight, it’s been another wonderful year!! We have so much to be thankful for – and so little to complain about – though we need to remind ourselves how fortunate a life we have – red or blue state matters not, we’re all lucky to be living under the Stars and Stripes.
I am so astonished and honored to send you a letter from your very special admirer. I now know the struggles and difficulties that you withstood during your lifetime, and no one in this world can feel the same way you did after World War II, including me. Your life story has given me so much inspiration and insight to the philosophical wonders of the world, and this has influenced me to become a better person. I appreciate the gifts that God has given me, such as love, family, and companionship. Again, I feel sorrow for the losses and hardships that obstructed your goals to becoming a successful person.
If so, she was right. I flew through the air, landing hard on my shoulder. I sat there in the dirt, not crying yet. The mare raced around the arena. The tiny pony from the beginning of my lesson was no more.
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, a seed is defined as “a source of development or growth”. A physical seed requires preservation to nurture its growth. Concurrently, my SEED also requires preservation to encourage healthy growth. My salvation, education, elevation and destination, which is essentially my seed of life, needs continuous nourishment and protection. Because of its significance in my life, I must diligently and vigilantly guard my S.E.E.D to reach my destination.
The Prologue I have traveled far to reach the pilgrims. I have seen many great and marvelous thing; met great and marvelous people. In my long journey, I have met my share of problems. I have had to cross river and defeat beasts. I have conquered many mountains and storms.
Then after I jumped of the bike I remember that I barely made it onto the slip and slide. Then I heard my brothers laughing at me cause I guess they thought it was funny how I fell onto the slip and slide. I was laughing and screaming after I was done I guess that I learned how to be brave with them. Which I thought it was fun when we played boy games as my aunts told me that I had to play with dolls and girl games. But my dad and my uncles always supported me they said don’t listen to them you can play whatever you want.
Once we were comfortably seated in my bright purple kayak, we pushed off the rickety dock with paddles in hand. “Ready?” I asked my little brother Liam “ Yeah!” he exclaimed. “Are we gonna go far away to the other side of the river?
Have you ever rode a horse? Well I have this story of my was actually about six years ago, I decided to start riding horses that’s when I found out that riding horses was something that I like to do. I did so well in riding that my dad decided that it was then time for me to get my very own horse. But then my dad saw that my riding got way worse than it was when I was riding one of the stable horses named Mabaliene. But that was because of two things one I was not used to him and two he was a kind of I guess you could say a naughty horse.
When I was around the age of 7 or 8 I was one big handful. Accident prone, annoying, rude, and thought I could do whatever I want. But that all changed one summer morning. I woke up to the sound of a horse neighing. I quickly ran to my barn to see my dad with a little Shetland pony.
When I was a young child I would love to hear my parents tell me that we were going on a trip. I would be full of excitement, because I knew that we would be going to a place that I had never seen before. My parents, my brother, and I would pack our luggage and venture out in our small gray minivan. Three of my most cherished memories in our minivan are when we went to Disney World, the beach, and the mountains.
