It is important to recognize positive aspects in oneself in order to move in the right direction. As a high school learning disabilities educator I am able to present information in a way where students can understand it by presenting real life examples they can relate to. I am a proactive educator with the desire and capability to assist my students and school in achieving success. I am very technology savvy and believe that it is a pertinent strength that is needed in order to be an effective educator and administrator.
I am willing and able to learn new ways to present information in the classroom to benefit the students. My presentation skills are exceptional due to my background in business management. I show flexibility, compassion and passion for children and teaching on a daily basis. I am an extremely hard worker who combines professionalism with patience and classroom management skills to lead students in an organized and prepared classroom.
I am interested in incorporating additional activities that will help students focus on cross-curricular objectives while in my class. I would also love to work one on one with different teachers who will help me gain experience and knowledge. My concerns include learning to adapt cross-curricular lesson plan development while adapting instruction to specific student needs. I am also concerned with adapting to their behavior in the modern times, the management required to keep students focused on the task at hand feels impossible sometimes.

When faculty and staff are effectively focused on the schools mission and have made progress in attaining it, and new teachers are satisfied with the training and support they received it is satisfactory to announce that achievement was attained. In addition, the school should show signs of progress in the time allotted on the time line. As administrators we must review student work only when it can be compared to or supersedes district and school standards for success is it a clear indicator of realization. Data programs recognizing positive performance from the entire school as well as individual student achievement is the final aspect of success. It is when I can sit back and look at what I have achieved with pride and gratification and say; I have made a difference!
I had the pleasure of being able to shadow Superintendent Shirley Hall of the Maplewood School District. Ms. Hall took the reins of the district over in 2012 from a very popular superintendent who was credited with making great strides within the district. Although Ms. Hall had very large shoes to fill, she seems to be doing it with grace and enthusiasm. She credits the previous superintendent with making systemic changes and establishing the overall forward momentum of the district, but recognizes that she cannot rest on past success. Her goal is to take the district to the next level of educational excellence by focusing her and her administrative team's efforts on the P.E.L.P. coherence model from Harvard University. This model focuses the leadership's attention on the interdependence of the various aspects of their school district and how they reinforce one another to support the implementation of an improvement strategy. One of Ms. Hall's mantras was change, but not just for change sake, deep change for sustained improvement. Therefore, although Ms. Hall's predecessor was able to put the district on the right path, Ms. Hall has taken the baton and run with it; establishing her own style and path to excellence.

To be successful in any venue in life, you must be able to communicate with people; this is especially true in the education world. Principals are responsible for communicating with people in all walks of life, parents, students, teacher, administrative office personnel and the general public, as an administrator, you must make each of these individuals feel a sense of trust and belonging while communicating with them. As a leader candidate, I can understand the challenges and multiplicity of complications that administrators must face each day. However, I will not accept any remote possibility that the students must be affected by some flaws of the school organization. We all as leaders, must be strategic with people, time, and money to guide our students towards an academic success.

Students with learning disabilities can learn; each student has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. Educators must continue to focus on the strengths of each student and building on them, creating a stronger student and person. As an educator there are many goals you want to achieve by helping your students become successful. But the students with disabilities cannot be left behind. Just like it took time to learn the skill of teaching, they need the time to understand the concepts that they have difficulties with. Most students that do have a learning disability dread going to school, as a teacher try to make that difference and make them want to come and learn. By being an excellent teacher, do the best to be able to teach any type of student, so for the future the students like Granger don’t hate going to school everyday.
As an administrative leader, I will seek to encourage, appreciate, and understand my colleagues, faculty, staff, and students. I will set high standards, be the first to adhere to them, and find the tools and knowledge to improve as well as help others to do the same. Building Leadership Capacity in Schools by Linda Lambert touched on a number of key ideas. Lambert provided examples from different schools, principals, and her experiences on obtaining and sustaining leadership capacity while developing her character. Lambert points out that to build leadership capacity in schools there should be participation by parents, students, and staff. Also these are the same characteristic as to becoming a great character in society. In this paper I will talk about the staff and there level of participation. Lambert points out that conversation with individuals about their roles as a leader should take place as individuals take on the task of leadership and character development. One key element in the text was the level of participation and degree of skillfulness for leadership capacity while trying to discover your character. Another element in the text that I found key was to break the dependency relationships on staff and the principal. As we work toward building leadership capacity and charcter, it will take time and time is a big factor on building leadership capacity because there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done that we would like to do without strategically planning leadership meetings.
Thomas Sergiovanni (2015) describes three essential dimensions of leadership as “the heart, head, and hand of leadership.” The heart describes those characteristics within the school leader that reflect personal “beliefs, values, and dreams.” The head of leadership refers to the practice of teaching and educating. The hand of leadership reflects actions taken by school leaders with respect to management behaviors. (p. 5) Within these elements, there is room for personal choice in how leadership is practiced and it is incumbent on new principals to find an individual leadership style that responds to the uniqueness of each school.
I believe that I am at the Proficient level of performance according to the Framework for Professional Teaching Practices (Danielson, 1996). For Doman 1, planning and preparation, I believe that I demonstrate adequate skills. I work hard to make connections to my content knowledge with other subject areas through discussions with general education teachers for social studies and science curriculums (Danielson, 1996). As a special education teacher, I must have a full understanding of my students (Danielson, 1996). I design lessons that are the instructional match for my students, modify grade level curriculum, and accommodate for different learning styles.
As I ponder over my personal professional development experiences as an educator the realization of how one has developed over time is personally satisfying. Educating children especially children with special needs is a challenge within its self. As a teacher it is important that this writer makes a positive influence with students. Everyone has their own beliefs teachers should do what is necessary not to infringe on others, but show children different way to think so that they have all the information needed to make educated choices. If children are taught from an early age they will have the ability to succeed especially children with special needs as an educator my main goal is teaching the purpose of public schools, and education reform. It is my purpose to influence children and be positive influence.
With the proper guidance and support, teachers can achieve academic excellence in the classroom. They follow their principal’s vision and share their goals. Teachers also serve as leaders in their classroom. They share their vision and goals with their students promoting positive attitudes in the classroom. Just like it is important for principals to respect and understand what their teachers need, students also need the support, understanding, respect and empathy from their teachers. When teachers demonstrate commitment in the classroom and set high expectations they raise the level of learning in the classroom. Teachers that work with the students and their parents to understand and meet their needs will achieve positive academic outcomes.
