My Family: Growing Up In A Traditional Mexican Family

I was born on September 15th, 1999 in a small town called Watervliet, MI. I was the first born out of three children, and the only girl. Growing up as the oldest and the only girl in a traditional Mexican family was definitely not the easiest thing to deal with. My parents have always been strict with me, which I believe has shaped me to be a responsible woman. I have two younger brothers who are 15, and 10 years old. Even with my brother who is only 2 ½ years younger than me, they are not as strict. This has always made me mad, especially when I still lived at home full time. Although, my brothers and I fight a good amount, I still care for them as if they were my children. People tend to tell me I'm "too nice" and I believe I developed this through taking care of my brothers throughout the years. In addition, I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend for the past three years. Many people say I was crazy for getting into a serious relationship at such a young age, but this has been one of the best decisions I've made. I love and cherish every single moment with him. I don’t remember a lot about our life in Texas, but I do remember we enjoyed it a lot. At the time, my mom was a stay-at-home mom, and my dad worked at an electric company with my uncle Bernardo. The one thing I do remember is that my dad used to jam out to "Celoso" by Grupo Toppaz and that will forever be one of my favorite songs. We stopped migrating once I started school because my dad thought I would not get the best education if I never finished a school year where I first started.
