Conserve the Preserve For my Ecology Action Project, I will gain experience in creating a healthier environment, and how the state of the environment affects my own health. On September the 30th I am going to the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. On the 30th, it is National Public Lands Day, and the preserve is having a volunteer event. To attend, all forms are signed and taken care of before September 21st. I may need to secure a ride for the trip, with either my parents driving or carpool with another friend, before the 29st. On the day of the event, September 30th, I will need to have someone drive me to the preserve. When we arrive on the morning of September 30th, I will help complete the project they assign to us, and complete the job thoroughly. By the afternoon of the 30th, someone will drive me home. There is a positive impact by my project on the environment, through the skills I’ll learn and the help I will contribute. I will help indirectly through the increase in public support and awareness if I were to talk about volunteering there. I will also pitch in and help, doing projects such as fixing fences or pulling weeds. After completing the project, I will learn better skills, knowledge, and habits that I can implement in the future. If I liked volunteering at the preserve, I may go back to volunteer again. …show more content…

When I go to volunteer, I will learn new skills, and as mentioned before, I can put those skills to use afterwards in my daily habits. I will also appreciate the hard job of keeping the environment healthy and clean. Spending five hours outside and putting a large amount of effort into cleaning signs, maintaining trails, and picking up someone else’s garbage puts my own time and habits into perspective.
