A Journey to Be One Ever since I was a little kid, I have always wanted to visit Yosemite National Park. The views are stunning. Everything about the park interests me, because I am a nature boy. I am thankful that my parents raised me as a camper. There is video footage of me- just a few weeks old- camping with my parents up on Ossipee Lake, in New Hampshire. I grew up on Ossipee Lake, and that is where I learned to fall for nature. There is something about being in the forest, it is so still, and quiet. I cannot think of anything more Zen than taking a walk in the woods. As a dream trip, I yearn to grow as a person by one day visiting Yosemite National Park. Firstly, with some research, I have decided that I would like to visit the park …show more content…
It would cost me $239 to rent a Toyota Yaris for a week from San Francisco airport, according to rentalcars.com (Rentalcars.com, 2017). That does not seem too bad. Transportation is crucial, so I am willing to pay for that. The ride from San Francisco airport to Yosemite National Park will take about four hours, according to Google Maps. I think incorporating a road trip into the trip would be a lot of fun. I want to be able to navigate myself through a new place. I want to prove that this trip can help me grow as a person, and help improve my navigational skills. However, a big part of this trip is going to be me realizing how I can make it possible. I would have to save up a big chunk of money. Overall, this trip is looking like it could cost me around four thousand dollars, when it is all set and done. That would be a lot of money for a college student, so this is probably a trip that I will do later in my life. My long-time girlfriend, shows a lot of interest in going on this trip with me, so I am sure that we will do it together at some point. It would mean a lot to me, to be able to make all the memories of my dream trip, with her, someone so close to …show more content…
Overall, the trip is going to cost me a lot of money. I know that I will be able to afford the trip at some point in my life, so I know I really do not have to be too worried about that part. Another thing, is the flight, I am not the biggest flan of flying, and I do not look forward to being on a plan for six hours, but I have done it before. Lastly, I have some fears that the trip could be dangerous. There are a lot of wild animals in the park, and there could be opportunities to get lost too. I interviewed Salem State University Professor, Dr. Lucinda Damon-Bach, who has visited Yosemite National Park, and had a frightful experience, “I had been camping before, and I was always cautious of animals, but not as cautious as my friend Chris. We woke up the next morning, to Chris telling us from up in a tree that we had three bears on our site, a mother bear with two cubs. I was in the tent with my friend and we froze, luckily after a while, they went away” (Damon-Bach, 2017). If that was to happen, I would certainly hope that I would be able to keep calm, or navigate myself back. I am thankful for this class teaching me some navigational skills, so hopefully that will not be a

Adams' love for Yosemite was portrayed through his elegant words and pure black and white images of the valley. The natural beauty of Yosemite was shared with the world through his images of unspoiled rushing streams, raging waterfalls, crystal clear lakes, lone trees and high sierra mountain peaks. In the combination of his photographs and writings, Adams demonstrated "that those who appreciate the earth's wild places have a duty and responsibility to use them wisely and well...
We are so fortunate to live in California and have access to so many of the properties operated by the National Park Service. There are thirteen national parks in California and I have been to seven of them. Enjoying the outdoors is something that is innate to our family. Even before our children could walk they were enjoying hikes through Yosemite in backpacks. This is an amazing fact that I learned from the map given to me in Sequoia National Park; “The only place Giant Sequoias grow now is on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. The 75 distinct groves are found within a narrow band about 260 miles long and 15 miles wide, at its widest point.” (Sequoia National Park, 2012). Without the National Park Service protecting and maintaining parks like Sequoia National Park, there may not be any place like this for my children to learn about this beautiful country that we live
It is an excellent destination for an amusing day of outdoor activities. Plus, you’ll get a bonus of astonishing scenic views.
Yosemite National Park, is a beautiful piece of nature it is a 195 mile nature getaway from the urban life that is lived San Francisco, CA and 315 miles away from the fast pace and overwhelming life that is lived in Los Angeles CA. This place is like no other in the beauty of its nature. The park is “747,956 acres, and is the home to hundreds of wildlife species and thousands of Yosemite plants” (U.S. Nat. Park Service). Yosemite is known for so many beautiful features, from its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves and biological diversity. And also for its two rivers which are the Tuolumne and Merced rivers. These rivers begin in the park and flow as far as west to the Central Valley.
...e, and a quaint town only five minutes from the national park, there is always something to keep you entertained. As one of the last, nearly intact, temperate ecosystems on Earth it is home to a very unstable, diverse ecosystem. Come to this magnificently beautiful mountain range, and witness all its beauty and serenity first hand.
Wilderness is a highly idealized concept in today’s society – we simply put it on a pedestal and choose to admire it as we see fit. Nature and wilderness are considered distant and remote concepts, separate from our everyday, civilized lives. By approaching the natural realm in this sense, we simply detach ourselves from our origin, which leaves us to fantasize about the great outdoors as an escape from the artificial creations of our everyday life. This desire to escape our artificial lives has lead to the construction of locations such as national parks, which merely appear to be the natural world, yet in reality they are simply just facets of the modernized world we have created.
Located just beyond the south entrance to the park is the visitors center and ranger station. Here you can find maps to trails, information about camping, fishing and boating, and information about the flora and fauna to be found within the park. This is a good place to start your visit, get oriented, and plan your day.
The trip began when I took a small green pencil and signed by name on the release forms needed to hike in Yosemite National Park. I and nine of my friends left the ranger station that night with a neatly folded map and a felling of excitement to what lay ahead. The long drive to the park left us tired and in need of a good night’s sleep. We decided to stay in tent city like most hikers do before they set out for their trek. Tent city was a large subdivision of tents that resembled a community of houses. Each tent was perfectly uniformed in its appearance and made up a total of fifty tents. Before we went to bead, we studied our maps and made an itinerary to the amount of hiking we would do.
Langston Hughes uses poetic elements to express the reader his feelings towards America. Langston Hughes is very upset that America is not what it promised to be. Living in America, he never saw America to be the land of the free, what it promised to be. Instead, he saw America to be cruel to him and now wants to change America to be the country of the free he thought it was. He expresses all his emotion about America, in his poem, Let America Be America Again, by using connotative diction, repetition, narrative tone and organization; poetic elements.
Located in the popular Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in California. Every year, mother nature’s breathtaking beauty attracts millions of people from around the world. People hike for three long and fatiguing hours in anticipation of witnessing forceful water rushing down the steep mountain from 2,425 feet above. Last summer, my family and I backpacked through the Yosemite Falls Trail and I came to learn what a truly exhausting experience it is.
Getting prepared and ready to explore something new is just minor compared to the actual adventure for a senior anticipating the departure of their school trip. I was a member along with 30 other classmates of the co-curricular group called Business Professionals of America, a club organized through our school. Our teachers, club officers, and all of the members had been planning and fundraising for our trip to New York City for months. The excitement grew more and more as each day got closer to take off. All of us were anixious to see The Empire State Building, "Ground Zero," a Broadway play, and the spectacular views of gorgeous ocean sunsets. We had all been told and were aware of the different surroundings of the environment, or culture we would be experiencing when we arrived. Different cultures are common throughout the world, even in different places around the United States. Going on a trip to explore New York City really made the differences in cultures aware to me.
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
The attractions of a long distance hike is exhilarating for the idea of spending several
I used to go there to be alone or to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds. I liked to go there to lay down on the grass, listen to the wind, kiss the flowers and watch the leaves moving. It was hard to go up the hill to get there, but I wanted to see everyday my seven trees, to see how the color of the leaves changed and to feel the softness of the grass.
